I thought I'd be safe in SWTOR. NOPE. NOPE. N-O-P-E. Sigh, I know. I remember you saying how much fun you were having there. That's why this bothers me so much I guess. I really was enjoying myself. I suppose I can hide and continue RP/ERP stuff and ignore the story. |

I'm afraid my lack of MMO experience blocks me from fully understanding how it works with expansions. I take it you can't just skip one then like with other games and dlc. That is really unfortunate. |

It's going to be like Solas and new playthroughs all over again. Starting new characters and coming across them during the Forged Alliances stuff, you're just going to be side-eyeing them all the time.  The part of me still in denial only hopes it's just someone pretending to be him ala Star Cabal magical face tech stuff but... I know it's just Bioware, being Bioware. I bet they're all just patting themselves on their backs over this twist whilst the fanbase falls apart. I'll look forward to watching the forums burn when it releases as this traitor had a lot of fans. |

It's going to be like Solas and new playthroughs all over again. Starting new characters and coming across them during the Forged Alliances stuff, you're just going to be side-eyeing them all the time. Okay having read the datamined dialogue it's clear that it actually is him. No surprise that he escapes but damn is it heartbreaking. Seems like there's some shady masked character pulling the strings so he might not be the one fully behind it and being manipulated. Like, my characters forgave Quinn and they redeemed Arcann, they'd save Theron if they could. I'm still fucking salty that they decided to use Theron to tug at the heartstrings though. It sucks, we have to do the stupid story to move onto the next expansion when it releases - which means they're going to drag all this out forever. I'm salty I wasted all those gifts across all those characters, he was a high influence on a good few of my characters.  |

From the datamined dialogue it really does sound like he might be trying to infiltrate this 'order' though why he couldn't ya know, tell someone that is beyond me. Lead the commander out somewhere private, tell them, no witnesses, he can pretend to try and kill them, etc, and then we take down this new order from within.
Though given how terrible the Swtor writers are lately, I fully expect this to just be a ridiculous villain plot twist to Theron's already battered personality so they can kill the game when all his fangirls and fanboys drop their sub. I'm just really glad I never started a new character to romance them after all. Just having one go through this will be depressing enough, especially as he already has trust issues. |

Like if they weren't that many straight options then ok, but dang there is a lot. Same for me in many ways, finally got into the game for the romance options, and stayed for the story. Luckily some classes don't have as many ugh flirt options but if you go smugger or agent you're practically tripping over them. The m/m flirts don't start until well after the class quests, in Rise of the Hutt Cartel and onward and even then, nothing actually comes from them until you get Theron and Koth. I really hope it's just under cover infiltration and that the Commander couldn't be told because their reaction to the betrayal wouldn't be as pure otherwise to anyone who might be watching, and thus messing up the infiltration. At least this is what I really want rather than stupid random bad guy twist. Either way it's going to mess up a lot of people's relationships whether it's under cover work or not. Also pretty cruel for anyone who dumped a former romance option for him and are now double screwed. |

Why couldn't we just get KOTOR3 with the KOTET/KOTFE storyline and a finite ending? That's what the last expansions feel like, the intended original end to the Revan mythos started in KOTOR and subtly continued in KOTOR2.
The problem with having a story-focused MMO like Bioware calls SWTOR is that MMOs by nature are meant to go on indefinitely, which is at conflict with a story based SP game which has a finite end. So we're now seeing the slow decay of the story as Austin tries to pump as much money out of the game as possible while having no game plan for how to continue the story.
Even if Austin had the best game writers in the world (which...yeah) they would have always run into the problem of ending the story they wanted to tell while having to stretch it out for the life of the MMO. The Jedi Knight class story and Shadows of Revan storyline both seem like duplicates to the KOTET/KOTFE story, just in an early format. It feels like they're just recycling the same story now and treading water.

It's still bullshit to play with the player and their character's hearts with this shitstain story, but I'd rather that than the alternative of him truly being a full on traitor trying to murder us because he thinks that even the lightest of light characters is suddenly some oppressor. Like, having to choose between the Republic and the Empire wasn't MY idea. I wanted to stay with just the Alliance but noooo, Bioware didn't allow it and somehow we're being punished for it. You're gonna look good on that throne, my ass.  None of my characters wanted the damn throne, they'd have given it back to a redeemed Arcann or blown it up if they had the option. But if it's anything like what they originally planned for KOTFE/KOTET they're gonna do their best to drag this out, so what happens to the characters who had him at the highest influence? They've just lost one of their best and possibly favourite companion. If they can do this to a staple, fan favourite, one of two a lot of people thought were in untouchable plot armour, I dread to think about the other companion returns. |

The story is in no way complete by KOTFE so why name the second half as a completely different story? |

Since I will likely never know if Reyes will betray me, bioware decided I experienced that in some other form. Fun! But at least in Andromeda I like Gil and Jaal. Here I don't think im interested in the other options but we'll see I guess.
