I'm about 85% sure that if you don't have Vivienne, Dorian makes the suggestion. He does (I always turn down Vivienne's suggestion to not get the disapproval hit), but during the scene itself Sera says that Viv must've puckered tight and I really don't know what that line turns to if you never even recruited her at all lol Honestly, it's been so long that I don't remember. My failure brings dishonor upon myself and my family. |

Hi Uncle, this is Dani100 or Danielle100 I used both. When I came back to BSN I guess I needed to keep a low profile for a while as the old BSN kind of got to me. I decided to open up here as it's a safer place for me and don't want to hide from the friends that I made.
Sorry I should have changed back to my original name but just had to come to it in my own time., I guess.

yourfunnyuncle it's good to see you as well You posted your introduction right before I did and knowing that Crim invited me here and seeing your name brought back so many good memories from the Sera thread. jadeprince I'm glad I'm here to and I was so very happy to see you here. I was gone from the forums for quite a while but came back under the assumed name and posted sparingly. My real name is Danielle but most people call me Dani and I kind of prefer it now. :hugs everyone too: it's so good to be back.

The only thing that I have of Sera was when she and Morrigan made out on stage. Also her reaction with qunari is still the best, classic lesbian.   |

So how would Sera and Merrill get on? Post-DA2 where Merrill is helping elven refugees rather than focusing on past Elvhen glory. (Is that the only option Varric tells us in DAI? I think regardless of if she smashed the eluvian or not that's what he says she's doing). I could see Sera appreciating that Merrill is helping the common folk but annoyed that she's targeting elves rather than everyone. And be cautious of any Dalish but maybe warm up to Merrill when she learns she was exiled from her clan? I feel like they could be a fun buddy cop film. Or 70's cop show set in Chicago. "Just shave something rude into your privates, dear. She won't get the redundancy." Love u Viv. (rofl) OMG I loved that. I loved that it was Vivienne who suggested this, that Sera was so shocked. It was completely unexpected coming from her when I heard it and it was great. I love that Viv is sex positive but not a romance option, she has her own world that doesn't revolve around the PC. Viv really missed a lot in content, I think, and we only get little hints past her mask like here. I think she could be a lot of fun if she didn't feel she had to play The Game constantly. In real life she'd be the office boss that everyone is afraid of but after a few shots at the office holiday party she's the life of the party. |

@vbibbi YES BUDDY COP FILM. I think Sera's instinctive reaction to Merrill would be a lip curl - somewhere between annoyance and oh no she's cute. Post-DAI I think they've both matured from where they were at the start of their respective games and would get along fairly well once they found common ground - that is, helping people, dealing with crazy shit. This is actually one of my FAVORITE Merrill portrayals of all time, and it's exactly how I envision her in a post-DAI world. archiveofourown.org/works/3315497/chapters/7244483 It's actually primarily a Hawke/Fenris fic, but even if you don't care for that this Merrill is SO GOOD, SO WORTH IT. vertigomez I finished that fic, it was great! Very high quality writing and really cool to see some underlying themes tied together throughout the story. I checked and it was all written between DAI's release and Trespasser, yet the author was able to predict a lot of Trespasser's plot fairly well!

(Yes I went there and I loved it.) "Make her happy. I will keep that she was happy." I love her journals and that they keep updating, what a treat it was in the game. Sera's not my favorite BW romance, but there's so much about it that's really sweet...I think part of what's wrong with it is the Inquisitor herself. Playing human, at least, the PC is a bit dull overall and there are too many opportunities to be mean to Sera, it's weird. Even on the romance path, you can confirm every fear/bad thought Sera has about herself. It just felt for me that despite all the highlights of the romance, the two characters never quite gelled in that "partners in crime/you and me against the world" way. |

It is hands down my favourite single-game BioWare romance, especially after Trespasser. My Inquisitor was always understanding and never mean to her, because she decided that the only way to prove that not all Dalish elves were up their own arses was to show her a counterexample in action, instead of arguing. It helped that she lost her faith as the game progressed. I can quite understand how Sera doesn't work for everyone. She was explicitly designed do be divisive, and I think that's why you get so many opportunities to be put her down. In the end though she just gelled so well with my canon Inquisitor, and the diary was one of the things that really elevated the romance above others for me. |

Sera is also my favorite romance to date, though it's a close call - Fenris and Isabela are right behind her. I definitely noticed there were a lot of opportunities to be like "lol Sera, so dumb and incomprehensible" when really I just wanted to... agree with her?? Either because I'm totally on board with the point she's making or even just to assuage her fears a bit? But considering how many people really do have that reaction to her - there are countless posts on the BSN complaining about the way she talks or that everything with her is random!!1 and silly - so I guess it makes sense that those responses were there. I don't get it, because I get her, but...  Background probably plays a roll in it, too. I've romanced her with a dwarf and two qunari (one warrior, one mage). Those backgrounds are "scruffy" and I found it really easy to relate to Sera as those characters. vertigomez I finished that fic, it was great! I stumbled on it when I was looking for every "Hawke gets left in the Fade" fic I could find (because I love Hawke and I like to hurt myself I guess??), and fell in love. Merrill and Fenris in particular were 👌👍 mmmhmmmm. Also I'm weak for game crossovers. |
