I haven't read this yet, but it is nice to know Sebastian is getting some love. I might check it out just for him. (Although I admit I do have the other set of comics but haven't read them yet! I should probably do that first...)

I should probably do that first...) I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to think about his brief appearance so far. Nothing bad, and nothing too spoilery, but just in case, he kisses Vaea's hand and acts kind of...suave? But then she flirts back to throw him off his guard and he looks confused/embarrassed? So I don't know if it was meant to convey that he's naturally chivalrous but not flirty and is awkward? I guess this fits his DA2 persona but it still irks me that apparently when he went into the Chantry he completely forgot his life as a playboy noble. Especially moreso now that he's been ruling Starkhaven for a few years and should be better versed in human interaction by now. But this is a minor nitpick I realize. But hey, do what you're good at, right? Another minor nitpick, I didn't like the aerial view of Starkhaven. It was much more of a fortress than I had imagined rather than a large city. I looked it up in the wiki and apparently this is the description from Last Flight and WoT: So I guess the depiction is faithful to source material, which is good. But I thought the total defensiveness of the city was weakened since there was a straight path from the outer gate right up to the palace, rather than staggered openings around the perimeter of the wall so attackers would have to circle through the city before they could reach the keep. But obviously this is a minor artistic nitpick rather than anything to do with the story.

Sounds like I have some catching up to do!
I like that Sebastian shows up. I know a lot of people either don't like him or write him off because he's DLC, but I'm glad they've taken an opportunity to... sorta(?) flesh him out a bit? Or at least acknowledge his presence.
I just like when less popular characters aren't completely written off the map. Basically the opposite of Varric.

FWIW, despite my endless whinging I'm enjoying this comic series a lot more than Magekiller and think the story for the first three issues has been fairly strong, given that two of the main characters are completely new. I also like that it's tying into the ending of DAI and probably leading up to DA4.

OK, reading it now. I will give my thoughts when I'm done. Well, I'm on the third one right now, and here's the thoughts so far: - Varric's facial expressions look really unnerving, tbh. I almost wish they didn't have him there at all because the faces he pulls are 2weird4me.
- Also is it my imagination that he suspected something was up with Vaea
- is Vaea's boss all just bullshit or
- Charter, Varric, and Sebastian? Well, cheesy cameos are what DA is all about, so I won't complain.
- Charter have you called your gf yet
- Have you called her now
- Tessa: come overrr baby
- Charter: can't, leliana wants me to assassinate a guy in denerim
Tessa: Marius isn't home Charter:
- what if Vaea wakes up back in the alienage and this is all a dream??
- that "knight" she's working for turns out to be only 95% bullshit apparently
- whomp whomp
- Vaea is a bamf how does she pull this shit off
- NGL we need more characters like Vaea in dragon age, just a ton of serious angry women who aren't afraid to beat the shit out of people

lol. I do like Vaea as a character, I think the comic has done a good job in only three issues in establishing her as a character, and a sympathetic one. I think that's very hard to do in comic format, especially with limited issues in which to work. I defo am enjoying her more than Tessa and Marius at this moment. Not that I'm not open to more exploration of those characters. I would be okay if she's a companion in DA4 at this point. Though we have yet to see how the story ends.

- My prediction for the next issue: Varric wakes up after a night of passion with Sebastian. Vaea makes some self-realizations about herself. Her knight figures out it's her who's been thieving and gives her a promotion to full-on thief knight.
I can't tell, overall have you enjoyed the series so far? I'm loling at your reactions. And agree with your prediction, Vaea's gonna have some splainin to do to her knight! Also, Marius' line about not being good in bed, I will bet money that he's a LI in DA4 and his romance plot is going to be how he's a virgin and makes way too big a deal about it.

It has some good parts and some eyeroll worthy parts. Ugh, I hate Marius. Can't he just have a small cameo and call it a day?

I enjoyed gaycaravaggio's rundown more than the actual comic. As for Marius, it's already been established that he had a thing with Calpernia. Granted, that doesn't mean they actually had sex, but they're both mature adults. I just find it unlikely they will go down your route. I also thought he was written out of character. I wasn't joking earlier when I said he wasn't scowling enough; that's all he ever did in Magekiller. Even when he was reunited with Calpernia he was Mister Mopey Face, so I can hardly believe he would find humor that 1) Vaea thought he and Charter were together, 2) would be all modest to some stranger about his bed skills. It's like Marius was replaced with someone else entirely.

I do think it's an unfortunate tendency that DA cameos tend to have the characters be allies/friendly/nice no matter what to the player/new main character, with some exceptions. (Not returning characters, I mean characters that are just there for a quick cameo)

Is this comic by the same person who does Magekiller? No, different team all around. But really, all you have to do would be to read the previous comics to know what Marius is like. Reading them all would take less then 30 min.

Plus they were really cute together, so I hope he will not become a LI because I only want to see him with her. 🙈

I really want there to be a choice between Calpernia's pragmatic vestiges of Venatori faction that wants to destroy slavery entirely by overthrowing the government and Dorian's Inquisition faction which seeks to abolish blood magic and reform the government on a more peaceful scale.

I think both sides are needed. You need one side to do the diplomatic part with words and compromises, but then you need the other side to do a little violence to show that (1) they are serious, (2) are willing to do what it takes if more peaceful matters don't work, and (3) offer a compelling reason for the opposition to listen to the diplomats (the threat of violence). Literally blowing up the Imperium isn't going to help anyone in the end, not the people who are trying to keep the status quo, OR those who will remain after the smoke is cleared, even if there is victory.

People are talking about a comic and I'm like...why couldn't it have been a book. With words A) finding untranslated comic (hell, even a translated one) is a bitch around here B) I hate episodical releases of pretty much anything C) it's expensive to get a whole story. Maybe I'm old fashioned, idk. Not a fan of comics (unless I can read them on the internet using the...free way )

People post scans of comics online all the time.
