Not sure what I’m twisting exactly? My only point is that by now we should have both a set female and a gay male protagonist, and instead we have neither. And that’s completely fucked. And not something I have the patience to deal with in the games industry any more. I’m not denying that sometimes people can be dismissive of Alexios or any other male protagonist without thinking of the gay male players who appreciate them. I’ve seen it, I’ve also seen it go the other way. I’m only pointing out the fact that if people who actually say things like “women don’t sell” are allowed to stay propped up in their positions, then no one is going to be happy. All it does is force people into this bickering match, because their feelings are rightfully hurt over the whole situation. But until the industry changes the way it acts and what it prioritizes we will be forever stuck taking out our frustrations on each other. ----- These are two different conversations we can have simultaneously. Homophobia in fandom is very real, and just because it gets exacerbated by the failure of video games to represent us at all, and that decision is paired up with the lack of representing women as protagonists, that doesn't lessen the homophobia fandom is responsible for, as its own, separate issue. We were talking about THAT. So by saying "blame the system, not the people who wanted Kassandra to have her own game," that's goalpost shifting, because while similar, while having ties to one another, these aren't the same conversations. Okay, so now that I'm rereading a bit, I can see how me saying "blame the system, not the people who wanted Kassandra to have her own game" might have sounded to you in this specific moment. That wasn't the intent, but I recognize that it was the impact. Tbh, I was kind of in a hurry to clock in at work so I didn't get a chance to read it over before posting like I usually would to make sure my wording was clear. That sentence is my fault, and I apologize for it. I fully realize that trying to be part of a larger fandom, while also in a minority is fucking rough sometimes. And yeah, people on the internet are assholes, and they always will be. That's the kind of the whole point of this forum right? Or at least it was, to be part of a fandom and represent a minority, without your voice being drowned out by the assholes. But, this hasn't felt (and will continue to not feel) like that place for me for a long time now. I will, however, point out that the reactions to those tweets about how women don't sell pretty quickly jumped to talk about Alexios only existing because it. And maybe it wasn't the intent, but the impact for me was basically "well, sexism worked out for us this time, because we got gay Alexios out of it." And I'm glad he exists, I'm glad Kassandra exists, but like I said before, both feel like something the devs got away with rather than something that was supported. I think that dlc pretty much proves that too. The point I was trying to make, was that if this hellscape of a world was less hellsapeish we should already have both a female and gay male protagonist is the 10 main AC titles. But instead we get 9 versions of the same character. Well, 8 because Bayek is actually a different character.

I've been too busy playing "My Time at Portia" to even pay much attention to upcoming games lately. It's nice to hear you can switch genders mid-game in Assassin's creed. That will make it easier for youtube peeps to make multiple versions of romance videos (if they are so inclined to do so). In practice, I don't see myself using the mechanic much. (that's assuming the game actually does right by male romancers this time, cause that double female romances thing won't sell the game to me this time.)I should never preorder things!!!!

These Ubisoft bosses/CEOs/managers gotta go. Not only because of their abusive behaviors but also because of their backward views of video games and players. I think that once these dumbasses go, the developers are willing to be more inclusive and have more female and/or lgbtq characters. Looking forward to this. There had been a rumor about a new RPG from Obsidian revealing during this. And if Bethesda’s Starfield is to come out this year, it would show up in this event as well (unlikely though)

I think this is the last big window of opportunity to get a mass effect trilogy remaster announcement. They brought back the bioware shop, they have a new trilogy artbook coming in february, and their anthem reveal was on an xbox show. So they tend to lean toward microsoft for these kinds of things too. The only negative that I could see them not showing it is if Microsoft doesn’t want competition to its Halo Reveal. But we shall see!

Yep. Evie, Aya (the devs vision for Aya being the playable character instead of Bayek, being shit on really burns me)...Kass... Guess they were ok with Aveline in the sidelined barely an AC game with a low budget because it was barely an AC game.

I'm cautiously excited. Weird to see a Fable game without a Lionhead logo...
