Ok so rewatching the Avowed trailer.
Im seeing crowns and flame with a sword, talk of oaths, Woedica.
Stone figure statue on cliffside with wolf - Galawain?
Land and terrain give Aedyr vibes but could be somewhere else, Old Vailia? Living Lands?
Spell casting gave me cipher vibes but also could be wizard invocation.

Also spotted a certain game Joey ew we had like, several days to make that trailer, so many things are still wip here, especially animations. I like the VO of the monster though, because it's my favorite voice actor. Also after the conference, during post-show when they showed the gameplay the screen was so big, only 33% of the game was visible. And it was watched by 30k people Team is pissed And the conference was weak overall it's insane. Like, there was no conference this summer that interested me. Or maybe I'm just not paying attention, because I've been overworking myself lately.

I agree. There hasn't been any real big console selling reveals yet for me. Probably just as well, the price might come down on the new consoles if I wait long enough.

is making first person games easier/faster or smth? rpgs are supposed to be in third person "cries" I tried to look that up and got no answers. It is an interesting question...We have a few peeps in the business around here. Maybe they can answer. I sort of like first person games myself, but I feel like it should be optional for people who suffer really bad motion sickness and other ill effects from first person games.

First person games do little more than make me suffer awful motion sickness and migraines. I'm still excited for Cyberpunk but I know I'm going to have to take breaks because of its first person stance. Games that have both first/third person options (Fallout and Skyrim) are fine for me because I can go in and out of it as needed. (I like exploring and melee combat in third person, but navigating tight corners/shooting guns is better for me in first, etc.) I had to give up my attempt to play Borderlands 2 because it made me sick. I really hope companies don't just keep going first person for their rpg games because 'muh immersion' because for me at least, first person does nothing to immerse me in a game. Unless I'm playing something in virtual reality, first person makes me feel even less immersed because where's my body? What are my disembodied hands doing? But it wouldn't surprise me if it was easier/saved budget because it feels like it'd be easier to create cutscenes in first person than in third person. I like to see proper cutscenes also - right now I'm on the fence about Cyberpunk's very few proper cutscenes and how most other 'cutscenes' can be interacted with. I wanna sit back and watch something, not be on edge I'm about to fail a quick time even out of nowhere.

Not sure if youre into this kind of game format but heres the other Werewolf game Honestly, I'm so starved for werewolf content that I might check that out, even though it's not usually my thing. Thanks for the link!

Yeah, I don't get the whole thing about "first person" and "immersion." I don't feel more immersed with first person. If anything, it takes me OUT of things. I consider the PC to be as much a part of the world as anything else, so having them stumble around and spinning in place to just look at the setting, or keeping the screen locked on their hands just reminds me that I am doing exactly what I'm doing, playing a video game.
Like I have tried playing games like BioShock and Dishonored, but there is this disconnect for me, I'm not comfortable with it. The games that got me hooked on video games and RPGs specifically are the BioWare games, KOTOR specifically, and those are locked third person. That's my home setting.
It's one thing when Skyrim or Fallout starts in the first person but gives you the ability to swap out of it. The fixed first person, though, is just increasingly unbearable, given how ridiculously common it's becoming.

Immersion is such a subjective thing. I despise fixed first person because it removes the “body sense” we have IRL that I think being able to see your character in third person captures. It’s unrealistic to feel like eyes and hands floating and nothing pulls me out of a game worse than suddenly seeing your character for the first time in an hour cause a cut scene triggered. But what is worse is purely first person cut scenes. Being able to zoom on your character in a pensive moment is such an important directorial option that emphasizes the emotional internality of life that is real hard in a first person scene which feels more visceral/horror than thoughtful/nuanced.

Some First person games can feel immersive for me but it depends how is done, there has to be a constant way of the game showing your character in between for me. For example in Deus Ex, is first person, but when you do a melee close up kill, you get the attack play out in 3rd person. That and constant story cutscenes in between where you see your character, having characters talk to you in comms often, help make do with the fps. In the case of Destiny also, when using certain abilities or swords the game switches to 3rd person, plus again cutscenes showing your character.
In the case of Borderlands 2, I could not get immerse at all, because my character had 0 contribution to the story or dialogue in anyway or would I ever be able to see him beyond pressing pause. Like I genuinely don’t get why there is costumes in the game. Its also why I haven’t played Bioshock, has I seen it just plays out fps the entire time.
With all this said, is what worries me on Cyberpunk. They mentioned that most of the game would be fps including the cutscenes, so there’s not much space for breaks from the fps perspective, and/or getting a good immersion on your V, being happy how it looks seeing it in action etc. I do hope in the end they actually taken some of the feedback from people complaining about this for months and actually popped out some 3rd person scenes at the very least.
Has for Avowed, I can deal with fps if its a shooter, but a fantasy game... not so much. That’s like a cool add on, and shouldn’t be a main thing.
(It was a crime though that the shower scene in Deus Ex played out in 3rd person covered and not fps hehehe)
