Also noted in the announcement, though, is that there's some preliminary work beginning on a new Mass Effect game, so that much, at least, catches my attention.

ME1 was a janky game but at least I can mod it so Ashley and Liara can't ninjamance me and I can romance Kaidan from the beginning. A remaster that simply leaves in all the bad stuff and leaves out all the cut content, is one that can do without my money. I don't care how pretty they make it. |

I guess they really are going to try to release it without fixing the game. Wow, I guess I will have to avoid the new version as well, that really sucks. No mention on fixing the ending either. And I gotta say, that in some way hurts as much as the lack of Kaidan from the start. The happy ending mod would have been hard to leave behind.

I'm sorry guys I can't put my hopes into the next Mass Effect. BioWare has emotionally battered me long enough. It's Clear that Casey Hudson has only made matters worse, and things will continue down that path. |

I'm sorry guys I can't put my hopes into the next Mass Effect. BioWare has emotionally battered me long enough. It's Clear that Casey Hudson has only made matters worse, and things will continue down that path. I shall take one for the team and buy this remaster. My expectations for it are suuuper low considering EA's current track on remasters as of late. I mean, take a look at that NFS remaster which i think was rather disappointing to many. |

Oh lol you guys are talking about it here woops, I made a thread on the Mass Effect Board cuz I` had no clue if there was a chat on the news haha. Anyway, adding Kaidan on ME1 would not really classify it to call it a full remake, since the files do exist for it, and the rumor said they are extensively fixing more 1, hence the delays. However, I'm not very hopeful about it either  . I guess at most we can hope if the visual change is any good, we get mods for that version. They are going to need some substantial visual changes if they want to get pc sales, since at this point everyone has their custom mass effect trilogy that makes them happy! Wish we had gotten something about andromeda though, not content or anything just at least a mention. It just feels at times they want to like forget it happened... |

They DID say they were gearing up for the early stages of the next Mass Effect game, and... I mean, I can't rule out a Milky Way return, but, at the same time, I just don't see it being viable to go back at this point. They may downplay things from Andromeda, maybe include a time jump beyond most characters' lifespan, something, but I see the only way forward for the Mass Effect franchise is from the foundation of Andromeda.
That said, yeah, I enjoyed Andromeda more than a lot of other games - hell, I think I have almost as many Ryders as I do Inquisitors, and Inquisition is three years older than Andromeda. It'd be nice if they gave it more love.

And you KNOW that if the het romances (in particular any romance featuring Male Shepard and the female LIs) were to be cut out, they'd have an absolute MELTDOWN, each and every one of them. Because it's only when a thing impacts the STRAIGHTS that it matters...

It struck me... Do some of these people responding to this shit like they are just... Not realize that my complaint is about how a remaster will offer me nothing I cannot experience in the current version, so I have no reason to buy these games again, or do they think that I've, like, sold off my older versions of the games and only could play them as a remaster?
Like, there are comments about (to make them kinder and less homophobic) "are you going to deny yourself this story because you can't be gay?" Which, first of all, I don't know about "deny," but my enthusiasm is significantly lesser, because, as Wentworth Miller just said recently, straight people have had their stories told and told. But secondly, I'm not denying myself the story, since I still have my original discs for my Xbox 360. I'm just not paying (especially not full price) to play the games with shinier graphics.
Mass Effect is not exclusive to the most modern systems or anything. It's a choice - do I want to spend my money to re-experience this story? And I'm making the choice that if I am going to do that, I had better get something out of it beyond just a prettier picture.

For real. Honestly, if we can't have a new experience then what's the point? I've already played the original trilogy so much that I'm not sure I would be able to get back into it again anyway. So without Kaidan, fuck it.

I have no love for the (likely) straight one in the reboot films.
You guys are right though - if they don't respect their gay fans by simply restoring content that was already there (as a simple fan modder has already done) then we really don't have much reason to pay full price for games we already own. We'll just have to wait and see how this goes. I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of the franchise but going in knowing that we're likely to still get the short end of the stick.

I keep watching graphical comparison videos of the new consoles. The difference is almost non-existent. The load times on next-gen are great though- regardless to which of the 3 you may want. However, those load times have all been on current-gen games..so I have no idea how it holds up for the beefy games that come out later on. I don't think anything out now is a true next-gen game. But I could be wrong!  |

Some people on the main Mass Effect group are worried that they'll replace the asari models in the OT remaster with the Andromeda asari model, I can't see that happening as they're different engines, personally I'm more worried about them replacing Ashley's ME1 and ME2 face with her awful ME3 face

I have it on good authority that even though Kaidan won’t be able to romance male Shepard in the first game, they added a new female character named Jaidan who will talk to your lonely ass Male Shep about the importance of boosting the batter and hand you a cup and a spank mag. Good stuff coming!
