The fact that his background as a street kid on Earth barely being referenced was such a fucking waste. That's a completely unique perspective (besides certain Shepards) among the squad and crew across the ME games.

I did just cheat at poker against Gil. He brought up Jill saying Gil wasn't doing his duty by [essentially] being gay. Never mind the shitload of people still in cryo who would love to be out and about before people start having babies. I commented that she was the "disrespectful" kind of friend. Really wish that commentary could be taken to its logical conclusion wherein Gil becomes best friends with Kallo and kicks Jill off some mountain peak on Eos. Or just throw her back into cryo since her job is 100% useless at the moment. yeah, sadly they thought that "ah she just gives me shit" was supposed to make us look over how horribly homophobic that whole thing was. I don't really quite get why that was never fixed-when the trans fuck up was addressed fairly quickly. I mean do they really not get why the Gil storyline was super offensive too? This right here is why I couldn’t/can’t finish MEA. |

I explained why Gil's romance was so disappointing on BSn the other day too, then a page later someone quoted an earlier post of mine and demanded to know what was offensive about Gil's romance. Apparently they were too busy to bother reading my other posts. Just wanted to be a bitch about that particular post. I ignored them. I won't answer the same question twice in the same thread it's been less than 3 pages since I already did so. (unless maybe I really feel like it's an honest question and not just a troll being a troll) |

Honestly, the only thing you are really missing out on is the lovely Kaidan art that DMC posts, but most of it gets posted here anyway.  Though if you ever just want to get salty for some reason it's still good for that. |

It's always a bit annoying when people make a fuss about Kaidan's bisexual status. I sort of get it, but not every bisexual person is upfront about it-and honestly there were hints to Kaidan liking Male Shepard-but if you weren't looking for them you wouldn't see them. Sadly even gay people are guilty of heteronormative thinking sometimes since it's so drilled into us before we come out into the gay side of the playground. |

I'd love to see them released before Gil is forced "to do his duty as a man". Poor Gil. Like I've said before, it MAKES. NO. SENSE. that, in Gil's words, Jill's been out of cryo since the beginning. You don't bring out a reproductive tech before you have a chance to establish a colony - the Initiative can't even turn on all the lights on the Nexus when Ryder shows! She should still be on ice! And that would have let Gil be their advocate and such for Ryder - he's concerned for someone he cares about being stuck in cryo indefinitely. Humanizes those people in pods, builds up his relationship in a way that revolves around what it does for them both, not just him being her turkey baster, and then, when she does get out near the end of his character arc, makes the question of a kid more of a hypothetical and less of a 'make this life-altering decision RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW,' where Gil says 'so now that Jill's out of cryo, it's made me think it over, would you ever want to have a kid?'
Just... This was something that I thought up in like fifteen minutes, how to use the pieces already assembled to turn this into a less homophobic mess. Why was homophobic and illogical the favored path?

...I miss Gil and Andromeda...
I've been in a Mass Effect mood for some time now so I hope I can revisit Andromeda and the trilogy again soon!

I've been in a Mass Effect mood for some time now so I hope I can revisit Andromeda and the trilogy again soon! Same, I only just got into replaying Andromeda and trilogy this week! Feels nice to be at it again. Playing through some of the last reveals in Adromeda made me really happy and sad at the same time. |
