I watch scary movies SOMETIMES. But they need to be the really shitty ones that I can lol at, or there needs to be a really good story. I don't normally seek them out, but I'll watch them if they're on TV.
I find it frustrating, though, that so many of them rely on characters doing the dumbest possible shit.
I prefer stuff that subverts some of the tropes a bit, and injects some self-aware humour into it. I like Cabin in the Woods, for instance, and Tucker & Dale vs Evil is great.
Scream 1 totally still holds up, and I'll even watch Scream 3, just to see Jenny McCarthy get murdered. But by that point, I still get shitty with Sydney. It's like... You have done this twice before! Don't run away when he falls down! Stomp on his face until brain squirts out!
And then in the last thirty minutes she randomly remembers how to be awesome again, lol.
I liked the Alien franchise too, mostly because of the world it created. But Resurrection is shit, we all know that. And Prometheus sucked ass as well. I'm not inclined to pay money to go see the new one.

Oh, and I watched AHS:Roanoake because I wanted to talk about it with Nocte and his friends, lol. Some parts legit scared me, and I had a real visceral reaction to seeing dead piglets thrown around the place. But that whole second half is just a big WTF. By the end, everyone left turned out to be so awful that I just didn't care if they lived or not.
Plus, I REALLY don't like horror stories where there's no way to win fairly. If failure is a foregone conclusion, why even bother watching? At least try to convince me that the good guys MIGHT win. Not that there are ever any good guys in AHS.
Because I was watching Roanoake, my mum bought me that one about the witch school on DVD. I only got a few episodes in, but maybe I'll go back and finish it. It seemed pretty dumb overall, to me. And I find Kathy Bates' character SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE to watch. Which I guess means she's a good actress, but I could do without that entire "sadistic slaveowner back from the dead" subplot, tbh.

I got stabbed. I'm not surprised, I make a lot of really bad decisions. Oftentimes even if I know better. And I'm doing it, this thread has inspired me and I'm renting Autopsy of Jane Doe tonight aww yissss Welp, Starry Eyes was a rec of yours, don't regret checking that out, look forward to your analysis of your rental. edit: I would have put money on you making it to the sequel, shamefur dispray fam. Look I know I am a New Kid around these parts and therefore I should make a good impression and try to impress you everyone, but I will say up front I am not to be counted on to survive long/get shit done in any kind of monster/killer/zombie/apocalyptic situation. I make bad decisions! I have accepted that my role in these scenarios–A ROLE I HAVE COME TO TAKE PRIDE IN–is to fall down, distract the zombie horde (for example) and give everyone else a chance to get away. Maybe my self-awareness and willingness to sacrifice myself for others...yes, that is a positive spin on "ineptitude in emergency horror movie situations" will be impressive in time. Like when the crisis passes and you're enjoying a drink somewhere all thanks to the fact that I fell down. YOU'RE WELCOME EVERYONE

Probably the best season and it had pretty clear goods guys/bad guys, which you like.

I love anything where people get slaughtered. Cabin in the Woods is still one of my favorites even though its a spoof.

Soo, watched Get out last evening. For me, it's not an horror movie, but it sure is a disturbing movie :/ (I'm so glad I quitted smoking by my own will ^^). More like a good psychological thriller than horror per say. And AHS:Asylum? the most disturbing serie I ever watched. It reminds me of an old game: sanitarium (trailer). And definitely the best "chapter" of AHS to me I need to catch up with I-zombie. I missed the last 2 episodes (I know, it's not a movie, it's not horror, but hey, there is zombies inside ^^)

For those interested in classic horror, of the 30s/40s, this is a great review of the best to check out. I've only seen a handful of them myself tho.

I love Jeepers Creepers! was so happy to hear filming for the 3rd installment has started. Yeah, I'm curious to see how that will turn out. The second one was just ok.

Continuing the era reviews. 1950s B- movie goodness, alien invaders/monsters on the loose/scientific disasters, best to check out. Part 2, 1960s best horror, Hammer Horror included.

Love that movie. *post count 666 I like that he gives shout-outs to some lesser-known little gems (like Pumpkinhead and Carnival of Souls) in each video! And I know that lists are meant to provoke discussion, but man do I have some serious quibbles with his lists, particularly the 80s And the 70s too...the idea that Black Christmas would be relegated to "honorable mention" when Last House on the Left earns a place in the top 10? Nuts. NUTS I SAY And Psycho II! He's totally right, it's effing GREAT, way better than it has any right to be considering that the original film doesn't really "need" a sequel at all. But it's so good. And Meg Tilly I mean, obviously it's all opinion and meant to provoke discussion rather than provide some definitive list. I once did a thing where I asked readers to send in their top 10 favorites–not necessarily what they considered the "best" films, but their favorites. I figured the master list would be around 50 or 60 films given variations, but it ended up being over 700 titles

Ugh, yeah, I agree. They fumbled the ending really badly. They wasted a lot of potential, but at least I guess it's a sign that they might get better instead of worse. It was at least more "horror", where as Hotel was more of a kitschy drama with supernatural elements, imo. It felt too raunchy Glee for me. Jessica Lange did some of the best characters. Her characters in Asylum and Freakshow were great. They also need to give Evan Peters a bigger role next time just because I want the eyecandy, tbh. On that note, more Matt Bomer, too. Evan Peters is great, the best thing about Hotel. Thought Lady GaGa did a good job, was surprised really. I liked Hotel. It wasn't my favorite but, Lady GaGa did well. I loved the costumes and the soundtrack though. I also like Coven. Witches are always awesome. Jessica Lange as Supreme was amazing! And Asylum was one of my favorites. Roanoke was interesting...I appreciate that they tried to do something different, and I thought Sarah Paulson did a good job because she played several characters for that show.

I'm curious now as to what are your top 10 fav horror flicks. I'm sure you won't have 700 titles thrown back at me.

I like Silent Hill 2006, TWD, Outcast, The Strain, From Dusk Till Dawn (series) and some more, ah also Resident Evil series (it's kinda stupid, but I like it for some odd reason lol) AND anything with Jessica Lange in it! E: True Blood was not that bad too, and I love The Originals series Penny Dreadful and Salem series was very good but they both have been cancelled

QUEEN Is it bad though that I've never really gotten into AHS? Even though Jessica Lange is a goddess and Sarah Paulson is great? I know people have been listing good and bad seasons...and I think about starting it but then there always seems to be something else I'd rather watch. Sry bby Aha, true, it is his opinion, I never heard of some of those movies on his list btw, my knowledge is, limited. I'm curious now as to what are your top 10 fav horror flicks. I'm sure you won't have 700 titles thrown back at me. Oh lists are great for finding new stuff absolutely! Or for provoking "if you like that one, try this one" talks, I love a list. I'll show you mine if you show me yours Ahem. That goes for everybody, I wanna see favorites! It's tough making a top ten, geez. I mean, some of my favorites I'm just kind of tired of, you know? Stuff like The Exorcist and Halloween. I love them but I've seen them so many times, but then they're basically a given for this kind of thing. So I'll leave those off. Also this list changes probably every year with the exception of a couple of films. (Yes, I'm apparently going to type out every one of my thoughts on the list before posting the friggin thing.) (you're welcome) Okay fine, in no particular order even though they are numbered: - Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
- The Haunting (1963)
- Martyrs (2008)
- The Descent (2005)
- Lake Mungo (2008)
- Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
- Black Christmas (1974)
- The Fog (1980)
- Night of the Living Dead (1968)
- Salem's Lot (1979)
almost made it: Candyman, The Blair Witch Project (THAT'S RIGHT, I LOVE IT), Creepshow, [REC] *phew* this took a lot out of me

I've only seen some movies on your list, I'm a fraud. I do love you a bit more for mentioning Creepshow, first one, I didn't think much of the 2nd one. Although it didn't make your top list, I really enjoyed it. Stephen King as that dimwitted farmer who found that meteor was particularly memorable and that cockroach scene. As for my list, argh! I don't know, I'll have to get back to ya on this. I'm not sure, watch this space.
