I'll review the other movies I watched this afternoon when I have a bit more time, there were a couple good ones, but I just want to say Train to Busan was such a good movie. The best zombie movie I've ever seen. I never expected to get that emotional over a zombie movie, they're usually not my favorite. I liked World War Z as a book and the movie was a big let down for me, tbh, but Train to Busan had the depth of plot and characterization that I felt WWZ totally fumbled as a film adaptation. If I'd seen it before making my top ten, it would be in there. That's on netflix I take it? I will have to check it out. Good zombie movies are rare! Most of them are so bad.

It's subtitled, though, if that's a problem. It's a Korean movie. I just know some people don't like subtitles. lol

I 1000% loved Autopsy of Jane Doe. Original concept, terrific acting, and a TON of atmosphere and tension, especially considering the action was largely confined to two rooms and a hallway. And special shoutout to the actress playing Jane Doe, A+ job as a corpse.
All of a sudden it's obvious we're in the midst of what'll likely be seen as another golden age of horror. Ssince 2013 or so there's been no shortage of smart, stylish movies out there right now: Jane Doe, The Babadook, The VVitch, Under the Shadow, Get Out, Raw, It Follows, Berberian Sound Studio, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, We Are What We Are, etc. I also love that so many of them feature female protagonists, villains, and more...women aren't simply relegated to sex objects and/or Final Girl status anymore.

First World problems About to watch It Follows for the first time. 👀 If I die, give all my stuff to my dog. staph being so adorable dammit.

About to watch It Follows for the first time. 👀 If I die, give all my stuff to my dog. I watched it the other day! I thought it wasn't bad. It played on a few horror tropes pretty well. Before I'd heard a lot of hype and it didn't quite hit what I expected, but I feel like maybe it was just unrealistically high expectations. It was, all in all, a pretty good movie.

First World problems It's not at the moment; I rented it via Amazon. Under the Shadow is on Netflix though! And so is The Invitation which is more "thriller" than "horror" but holy crap it's soooo good, everyone should bump it to the top of their lists yes yes

I'll have to see Autopsy of Jane Doe. The Babadook has been one of my favorites. I recently saw The Witch and Under the Shadow, both really good movies. I especially really liked Under the Shadow. I agree, there have been a lot of great horror movies lately. I think services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime help get these movies coverage they otherwise wouldn't get. A lot of the best horror movies aren't the mainstream, theatrical release titles. I watched The Disappointments Room the other day and it was a shit movie, tbh, but it had the known actors (Kate Beckinsale, Lucas Till) and a major theatrical release. Meanwhile, movies I saw at the same time, like Under the Shadow and Train to Busan, were amazing.

And I have to admit, I can't wait for The Bye Bye Man to show up on Netflix or Amazon. THAT TITLE, who thought that was a good idea? Who could possibly deliver lines calling someone the Bye Bye Man while acting scared? Were Faye Dunaway and Carrie-Anne Moss that desperate for a paycheck? I'm dyinnnnng to see it

Here's my (actual) top ten then 1) The descent - 2005 Oh hey, I watched this! It's one of the ones that really stuck with me, lol. And I think of it every time I play the Descent DLC in DAI.

I'm so behind in modern horror flicks. I tend to cater my watching habits around other people I'm spending time with-and I don't have many good horror friends left in my area. OH well, I guess I'll have to start watching some alone sometime soon.

I was a bit claustrophobic before this movie, now, I can't enter a cave if the sunlight is not visible ^^ --------- I'm not into asian movies, but since you all talk about Train to Busan, I'll give it a try

OH well, I guess I'll have to start watching some alone sometime soon. I do that with mostly watching what other people want, too. I almost never watch TV or movies on my own. This is actually how I got into horror movies, because horror is popular in my social circle. lol
