I finally watched Thor Ragnarok, I honestly didn't like it very much. The humor was too ridiculous for me when the story had so much potential to be something greater. The plot didn't really favor this humor. I think it doesn't help having watched Black Panther recently and seeing how well the narrative is done on that. That said I really find Chris' haircut in Ragnarok hot and I still ended up liking Thor more in the end (or maybe I was just enjoying too much the eye candy this time). I'm sure our gals here will definitely enjoy Valkyrie as well. Jeff Golblum felt like he was trying to make memes out of this film. Oh well, can't like them all.

Valkyrie was hot but Hela gave me very dirty thoughts. Also I dunno I liked the film, it wasn't trying to take itself seriously and it showed. I haven't seen Thor 1 or 2 in ages so I didn't really compare this one to them.

Oh she was underused, but it was love at first sight when she destroyed mjolnir like it was nothing lol. ...But yea seriously Valkyrie was hot. Her intro killed me haha.

Thor Ragnarok was one of my favourite MCU movieis, and I enjoy them generally. While I also loved Black Panther, I didn't think that one proved anything over the other (other than the obvious fact that a blockbuster with a black cast can be a huge hit).
What I will say is that both showed that a talented director can make a film which carries their own stamp and still remains a coherent part of the MCU. Taika Waititi and Ryan Coogler made movies with a strong directorial voice as opposed to being cookie-cutter superhero films, and I relish that in both cases.

I don't know, for me Thor Ragnarok felt like it just didn't have anything to tell me by the end of it. I thought the ideas of the story had great potential, but it was instead focused on just trying to add a ton of humor and shift strongly the tone of the first Thor films. That's fine, but they didn't have to literally squash almost everything from those movies in the process, not everything was bad on them. And its not that the comedy tone bothers me cuz I enjoy a ton the Guardians tone, it just didn't work for me with these characters. I still like the characters overall on it, but I think the story they picked had more potential if done in a different way, it was more promising than any of the previous ones they picked for Thor. Maybe when I re-watch it with a different mind set Ill enjoy it more.

I just think that if you ask Taika Waititi to direct a movie, it's because you want comedy. Personally I think that the whole concept of Asgard and the viking gods being real is one of the more silly ideas in the MCU, so I'm glad they let him do what he's good at, and deflated the pomposity with humour. Also, for me Thor 2 was one of the weaker MCU movies, and this one got the series back on track.

Let me preface this with - I don't really like superhero movies. I've seen like a few, and I just hated Iron Man. And today I saw Black Panther. Man, it was so good. The visuals were just gorgeous. The action was great. Okoye was spectacular and pretty much the coolest fighter in the movie. Oh, and M'Baku is hella cute and sexy, and I love him. Totally recommended. And I laughed so hard at this

Anyone gonna see pacific rim 2? I enjoyed the first enough and gonna go watch it with a friend so should be a good time even if its bad. I enjoyed the first, but it was directed by Guillermo del Toro and has a distinctive dark grungy aesthetic. Also the fights seemed like they really were between giant mechs and monsters. In the trailer for the sequel, the aesthetic was gone and the action looked like a bloody Transformers movie. The only plus point is that John Boyega >> Charlie Hunnam. Let us know what you thought...

Just reading this thread. I'm now gonna need to look up if I've seen Sharknado 5 or not. I think I have but not sure. I love those movies-they are the height of bad movie culture. hahaha!
Hmmm, everyone loves Black Panther-so I guess I'll need to see that one for sure. I wanted to see Love, Simon-but it's not playing anywhere near here (not really a shocker-since gay films in rural areas are hard to come by). oh well...I'll get it eventually! Theater watching is over rated.
