Another one I'm looking forward to.

I loved the first Incredibles so much and I can't wait for this second one. I'm really glad that Mr Incredible's major issue with looking after his kids seems to be that Jak Jak has a ridiculous amount of dangerous powers rather than the traditional 'man doesn't know how to do basic childcare' joke.

Saw Black Panther last night and all I can say is This and Thor 3 are in competition for my favourite Marvel film and it is definitely my favourite 1st film of a Marvel franchise. I'd watch another 10 Black Panther films before I'd watch another film from a phase 1 or 2 franchise. It has my second favourite car chase scene, (my favourite being Mad Max: Fury Road). Also is it ok for me to be a bit in love with Shuri? She is so cool and adorable.

Saw I,Tonya on Friday night, great movie, excellent soundtrack, give Allison Janey an Oscar for her bit as LaVona, fuckin' nailed each scene she was in. Genuinely lol'd with some of her lines! Margot was terrific also as Tonya, really surprised me as I've only seen her in bit parts. Movie was really hard to watch at times (domestic abuse),hilarious in places eg. Shawn, this person existed, the cringe! and the ending, damn that was really heartbreaking. Pretty cool to see Tonya on Ellen btw, nice to see her not being the punchline.

All the Snyder fanboys are still trying to get that non existent Snyder cut of Justice League when really the best cut film would be to make a coherent film out of all Wonder Woman scenes.

There is talks of a Batwoman movie on the horizon, I don't have high hopes, not because of the material but because DC always seem to fuck it up. Except for Wonder Woman, that was an anomaly.

Don't know who'll be at the helm of this movie, Joss Whedon ain't involved for one, he bowed out recently. edit: whoops, meant Batgirl instead of Batwoman. Batwoman movie would have been more interesting, Joker backstory and Oracle.

We saw that and Lady Bird this week. Both great films in quite different ways. It was interesting to contrast more typical teenage daughter/mother conflicts of Lady Bird with an actually abusive mother. I have known a few bullshitters like Shawn in my life, but none who quite took things to that extreme... My wife made the point that she would have liked to see a Netflix series of Lady Bird. The supporting characters were all interesting enough that it would've been nice to know more about them.

yourfunnyuncle with the Oscars on this weekend, poor Saoirse will have to wait again for her time to get an Oscar. Francis has been sweeping all the awards for 3 Billboards (on my to watch list that film) I'm hoping that Alison Janey will get an Oscar for her role in iTonya.

I enjoyed Lady Bird, and Saoirse was great, but Three Billboards was awesome. Certainly I would pick it for best picture. Both actress categories are packed with great performances, and I wouldn't be upset if any of them won, really (except i haven't seen Mary J Blige in Mudbound). Oldman seems a shoo-in for best actor, but again i wouldn't want to call the supporting category.

Batwoman movie would have been more interesting, Joker backstory and Oracle. I was wondering cos I did a quick google and couldn't find any mention of a Batwoman film. Joss was apparently going to use Gail Simone's New 52 run as inspiration for the film, but then he bowed out saying he didn't know what the story should be - which is so weird to me, there is so much you can do with Batgirl. She has an interesting backstory, she's friends with so many badass women (Huntress, Supergirl, Black Canary), her relationship with the rest of the bat family is complex and she sees the good in people the way Batman can't, as evidenced by her friendships with the likes of Poison Ivy & Strix. As long as you steer away from some of the more sexist storylines involving her like Killing Joke or when a writer makes her fancy Bruce, *cough Bruce Timm* cough* it's all good. I actually don't think a Batwoman film would work, her villains are either weird supernatural creatures, strange cults or big organised crime outfits, she'd work better on a TV show. Start with her being kicked out of the military cos of don't ask don't tell, partying for a bit, then getting her Dad (General Kane) to help her train to become Batwoman after realising her cousin is Batman (Bruce Wayne is Kate Kane's cousin right now), maybe have her team up with Renee Montoya (as either the Question or a GCPD Detective) The first season could be based on Elegy, which involves her twin sister she thought had been killed by cultists who kidnapped her, a cult and an Alice in Wonderland themed villain. yourfunnyuncle with the Oscars on this weekend, poor Saoirse will have to wait again for her time to get an Oscar. I love Saoirse Ronan and honestly she deserves an Oscar just for the grace she has as interview, after interview brings up how to pronounce her name. It's like every time she has a film coming up and she is doing the talk show rounds, some idiot has to make a comment about it. 3 Billboards is an enjoyable film, it just feels like it was specifically designed to win awards. Lady Bird feels like it has more cultural importance and I've a lot more respect for it.

Lady Bird feels like it has more cultural importance and I've a lot more respect for it. Can't agree with the bolded. I think it's cleverly plotted and well-made so it's up for awards, but I didn't see it as Oscar-baity in any traditional sense. I think what's great about it is how it continually messes with your expectations, which I don't see as particularly normal for a film that's up for awards. What I would say is that they are very different films which are really well made on their own terms. It's like making you choose between a perfectly aged cheese and a box of artesan chocolates - it depends on which you prefer! Edit: Though I do agree that, as a film written by and directed by a woman, with women in the key roles, it would be a culturally important thing if Lady Bird were to win best picture. Also, I would be happy if Greta Gerwig won best director, although Guillermo del Toro would also be a worthy winner.

Have Netflix even attempted to make a DC show, they made plenty of Marvel spin-offs? I feel like I'm missing out with Jessica Jones, I know nothing about that character but the trailer looks pretty cool and I've heard plenty of high praise for it. I'm also pretty sure I messed up my Batwoman and Batgirl, again. Thought Barbara Gordon was both, she's not, herp a derp.

CW seems to have all the rights to DC shows, but I think Netflix would do a good job. Can't wait for season 2 of Jessica Jones Sorry if geeked out a but about Batwoman, she is one of my favourite DC characters and I didn't realise you'd mixed up the characters again.

That was a joke...partially.
