OK i'm not sure i'll ever take this game off story mode. Tried on normal, takes about 3 seconds for enemy archers to kill off my front line fighters.

Yeah theres been a lot of complaints about the difficulty balance. Owlcat said they're looking into and are gonna patch in changes down the road I guess? I'm playing on Easy right now, because Story mode itself was TOO easy, as in enemies were dying so fast I couldnt use any cool spells lol. Though unlike Deadfire where I want a bit of challenge, Im mostly playing this for the story and romances. Also I saw someone recently say Pathfinder has one of the best CC's so far in a CRPG like this, like....what even? Deadfire's CC blows this one out of the water, plus theres like 4x more portrait options.

So I haven't gotten as far as I'd like yet, I did get the first flirt with Regongar, but I'm already getting the impression I won't be liking him as much as i'd hoped. Maybe that will change as his story unfolds? For what it's worth, nothing about him screams evil to me. He's a lot like Ogren/Zevran in that he's hedonistic and dismissive of morality. But Evil? Chaotic Neutral would fit him best I think. Honestly none of the companions really do much for me. And i'm debating restarting as a cleric

And i'm debating restarting as a cleric I'm a bit further, and stuff will come up where Reg's wild evil side definitely rears it's head. But I've gotten a few dialogue events from him that are really sweet. That description that Nick got from someone who was playing the beta where they described him as an "evil puppy" is definitely accurate. I will say that the option to sleep with him comes up super fast but its in a tasteful way at least imo, but I wasnt expecting that kinda stuff until after doing some personal quests of his or something. I'm guessing it's basically the signal of the start of his romance arc. I know what you mean about some the companions. Some of them are very...dry? I want to like Valerie and Harrim but I'm having a hard time lol, Reg, Tristian, Octavia, Amiri and Nok-nok are the ones I like the most so far. Also a heads up, if you get a companion quest, try to complete it within a short amount of time. I had Jaethal's companion quest and was busy doing some kingdom management and it ended up expiring????? and I wasnt able to even do it and she got all mad at me. Like what....? Not really liking the idea of a time limit on companion quests.

So been playing this some more and I realized that the storybook instances that show the PC along with the other companions in scripted interactions defaults the PC to some male in a suit of armor even though I'm playing as a female lol.... It's a small thing in the scheme of things but it just kinda cements that usual "default is always going to be a male" thinking and takes me out of the moment a bit whenever I get these storybook scenes.

Sooo0o0 I've been hard at work to avoid any story/romance spoilers but I did happen upon a small bit of info from a player confirming that the only romance option in the game who doesnt have a chance of leaving you at the end game no matter what is the straight male romance, Valerie. All other romance options, depending on choices you might make etc, have a chance of ditching your character. Typical.

I truly hope all the things I'm reading are fake because it seems you cant reject Octavia when you sleep with Regongar, like this dude wants to bring her and do the friggin threesome and you cant change that?. I'll be waiting for sales tbh

Hmm what did you read? Because theres a part fairly early in his romance arc where he'll express interest in wanting to sleep with you, then after you say 'yes' basically, he'll ask if Octavia wants to join you guys, but for me, she declined and it was just Reg and my character. I think you have to express interest in both of them if you want the threesome, otherwise Octavia or Reg will decline accordingly. I kinda wish it was the players decision to ask Octavia to join and not Reg's but she definitely wasnt forced in and Reg didnt care that she said no. I've put that playthrough on hold though because of all the bugs, plus I finally figured out how to add custom portrait so I think after the new patch thats coming on Monday, I'll make a new character for the Reg romance. Most of Reg's romance that I've experienced so far is actually pretty good imo, definitely not perfect, but I'm enjoying his character, and Octavia is like best friend material lol. Edit: Saw the second part of your post. Yeah, Reg asks her to join and it's only the one time, he doesnt ask over and over. And like I said before, she'll say either yes or no. I'd have to disagree about the third wheel part though, because once you start getting your relationship established with Reg (i havent tried Octavia yet) he's very loyal, sweet and pretty devoted. Though those are just my impressions so far, I only got to chapter 4 in-game which isn't all that very far.

double post oh well.
They had a "Which kind of new portraits do you want to see added to the game" Poll. I voted for female aasmiar.
The results were in and female aasmiar and male human (big surprise there) ended up winning. So they're going to add two new portraits sometime soon, a female aasimar paladin and male human sorcerer. I wish the classes were swapped but oh well! New aasimar portrait!

There is a secret romance for straight dudes (only good alignment characters it seems) with Nyrissa, the nymph.m/f three options -all good characters- f/m two options -1 good character and 1 bad character (can be neutral)- f/f one option -good character (can be neutral)- m/m one option -bad character (can be neutral)- both s/s options are a couple. I wonder who is the spoiled child on this equation I still want to get this game on sale because I like Regongar-type of characters (changing his alignment is a brilliant and organic idea imo) but yeah, second class consumer again. I read the game has a lot of bugs too which I hope they fix by the time I buy the game lol I read there have been a lot of fixes already. About the poly romance you can have a happy ending with them, so I HOPE you can do that as woman if you romance Octavia and as man if you romance Regongar.

Hmm, im pretty sure Nyrissa is bi (I saw a group of female players talking about it) but I have no interest in romancing her, plus she does some pretty shitty stuff, being the stories main baddie so far... I still havent got past chapter 4 though, waiting for the giant patch that is incoming any day now. If Nyrissa is indeed for straight guys only I wouldnt be surprised because I think it might of been Chris Avellone who shoved romancey stuff for her in the game. Pointless romance imo, it's up there with Avela in MEA.

I read you can only romance her with good characters, what's happening lmao if she is bi that's cool, the little I read about her romance was from dudes. They are talking about the "true ending" with the nymph I dont know what they mean by that. I hope other endings feel as true as Nyrissa's. I hope some gaymer make a guide to romance Reg at some point! edit. not confirmed but just read she is bi I found someone who was successful on the Steam forums, and it seems she doesn't care about gender. Although I cannot tell if said person who was successful did it through save file editing, it does look like for the time being that this romance isn't gender locked.
and it seems she is cursed or something like that and she turns good in the end. Love me some spoilers even though I dont understand a thing

I have no idea about the game endings but I'm sure there's probably a bunch of different possibilities for Nyrissa so none of them would be the one "true ending".

OKAY THIS SOMEHOW SLIPPED MY NET BUT OMG they're adding Tiefling as a playable race! New dlc dropping on Dec 6th called The Wild Cards. I hope the new female romance option isn't just for straight dudes though. I've already seen lots of comments from guys calling her ugly. I think this is her Fiend blood runs through their veins, whispering cruel truths and evil ideas. Who are they? Tieflings, the outcasts of the civilized world. Living channels of elemental energy, tamers of wild power - who are they? Kineticists, masters of occult elemental skills. A mysterious stranger crosses the threshold of your barony - marked with the blood of devils, gifted with the power of the elements. Who is she? Discover for yourself! This new DLC for Pathfinder:Kingmaker includes: A new playable race. During the poll to decide which bonus race we were going to add to the game, one particular option was requested a lot (besides the winner - Aasimars): Tieflings, the people with a drop of demonic blood in their veins. They didn't make it into the base game, but became the natural choice for the first piece of post-release content. A new playable class. They master the raw power of the elements, channeling it into their wild talents to manipulate the world around them. Kineticists are living conduits of primal energy, deadly both in close and ranged combat. A new companion. If you combine a race with a class, you get a character. Welcome your new companion, the Tiefling Kineticist who comes, just like every other companion, with her own storyline. She could also be a romance option and may hold one of the positions in the Kingdom. The new companion will join your party in the beginning of Chapter 2. Those who would like to add the companion to their current playthrough can do so at any point before the end of Chapter 5 ("War of the River Kings"): the companion will ask for an audience at your throne room. However, we would advise to begin your acquaintance with the character as soon as possible.

DLC Season pass details
DLC #1 - “The Wildcards” Ardent adventurers of The Stolen Lands will soon have the chance to play the first new DLC! Featuring a new playable race Tieflings, a new playable class Kineticists, and of course combining a race with a class, you get a character! Prepare to welcome your new companion, the Tiefling Kineticist who comes, just like every other companion, with her own rich and engaging storyline. Oleg Shpilchevsky, Head of Owlcat Games explains, “A new playable race. During the poll to decide which bonus race we were going to add to the game, one particular option was requested a lot (besides the winner - Aasimars): Tieflings, the people with a drop of demonic blood in their veins. They didn't make it into the base game but became the natural choice for the first piece of post-release content.”
The Season Pass and the first DLC “The Wildcards” is due to be released on December 6th, 2018 here on Steam.
DLC #2 - “Varnhold's Lot” A new bonus campaign. While celebrating your victory at Jamandi Aldori's mansion, you've met another hero of the Stolen Lands: the mercenary captain Maegar Varn. What did they have to face? Play this new story and export the consequences of the choices you've made there into the main campaign! This exciting new side story is about the size of one chapter of our main campaign and will take 6-12 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle.
DLC #3 – “Beneath The Stolen Lands” A new game mode. Sometimes you want to play a story with memorable characters, rich lore, and a complicated set of choices and consequences. But then there are days when you just want to grab a sword, cast some spells, and destroy a horde of monsters! This DLC will introduce a rogue-like randomly generated endless dungeon, complete with a new unique boss. You can explore it in a separate game, or as a part of your main campaign. How deep can you go?
