Completely forgot Peter Capaldi was in an episode of Midsomer Murders. And since it is a british show, I have now head cannoned it as part of the Dr Who Universe.
Dr Who, distraught over his last night with River being over, spends time as the conductor of a choir, then murders start happening, his fake wife leaves him and he goes back to space adventures.

I just realized there hasn't been any discussions yet about the new companions! Having three of them possibly from the very start is both very interesting and very risky. I mean, a new Doctor is always going to need time to grow and settle with everyone, and while the TARDIS crew usually expands, it's over the course of a season or two. Can they give both The Doctor and all these characters their time to shine? Anyway, some good natured poking fun at the new cast:

And now we have our first look at the 13th Doctor in her costume! I'll admit, at first I wasn't quite feeling it, but then someone on the Doctor Who subreddit said it best, that this does look like an outfit that a 2,000+ year-old man would probably initially go for if the now she was trying to go for a more feminine look when they never really had much fashion sense to begin with, and now I can kinda dig it. Every modern Doctor's played around with their initial look after a season or two anyway. They've also apparently redesigned the TARDIS, but I never notice those kinds of differences, which means they're probably doing it right.

Hm, i can tell it'll grow on me, and that coat, i always love the Doctor's coats.

Oh yeah -- I find that it always takes a few episodes until fans really settle on a new Doctor, and until then, everything about them is scrutinized and uncertain about at least a couple of things.

New doctor, all previous companions are gone, the interior of the TARDIS will need a redo. Everything is in place for a fresh start and clean slate. Well, as clean a slate as you can get with Dr Who. I didn't think Moffat was bad, or anything, but it's time for someone new to give us some new ideas.

I'm ready for the new doctor. I thought the Christmas special was a bit disappointing but good at the same time. Sort of how I felt about the 12th doctor in general. Question, but is Bill dead for real, or is there a version of her traveling with the water alien still? I am confused.

I was disappointmented River Song didn't show up to say goodbye at the end. The Doctor was saying goodbye to all of the special people in his life in this incarnation and no River Song?

Bill did technically die, that's why they have her memories stored in the database, but she's moved to a different form of life with her water girlfriend.

It would have been better if that version of Bill wouldn't have remembered the girlfriend saving her at all then. It wouldn't have been quite as confusing for me then.
