Yeah....this game may never come out. He's going to work on it forever and still want to improve it here and there. eh...The story should be the focus, not the lighting and what position the character is sitting/standing-but Oh well. The game was a cool concept at least. (it will probably still come out, but seriously wouldn't be shocked if there was another delay) As a backer, I think it's going along fine. I'm not concerned. I didn't take what you did from his post. I think he wanted to write that post because he is continually getting comments about various things from people who just don't know what they're talking about and don't know what he's actually doing or has done. One of the replies, which he answered directly, is actual evidence of this: a person suggested he use a certain technique like it could solve all his problems, only to be told that that particular method IS what he's using. Armchair developers can be very frustrating. It is an ambitious game, there's no doubt about that. I think he is also feeling the weight of the ideas he has and the reasons he wants to implement them. He wants it to be more than a dating sim (which is the reason I'm interested in the first place). He wants to showcase marginalized people and give them voice and exposure. He wants real life versions of those marginalized people to see themselves and be represented in a high quality, finely, lovingly crafted game, made by someone also of that marginalized group. The fact is that we just don't know what his actual progress is in terms of percentage or how he's going about constructing the game. It could very well be that he has all of the writing and plot already laid out, but the more time consuming aspect of it is the art, which he is going about doing. His Winter 2018 (which he clarified is the end of next year) estimate could be quite reasonable, or it could be idealistic, depending on what he's done and has left to do. We just can't know. |

Look - delays happen. DAI had one, as do most kickstarters. I'm not surprised a newcomer to the dev world would underestimate the time requirements. I wouldn't start panicking just yet.

Yeah, I'd only really start worrying if, at the last minute, he has another long delay and/or decides on a whim to completely redo everything. I think we'll get it in late 2018 like he says, or, at the latest, early 2019.

Sort of related: Marccus has set up a Patreon, if anyone is interested. Along with helping the person, it's my understanding that patrons gets exclusive things, in this case art. He promises it will be super gay.  |

$3 is a reasonable price, might actually join.
Question though - how does Patreon work? I know it's more of a subscription, but does joining it grant access to previous stuff, or do you have to pay specifically for X month?

I can't say for sure, but I believe you get access to everything. Becoming a patron is basically the gateway to seeing the shinies. |

Anything still posted, anyway; I know some artists have people sign up, grab all the art they want, then cancel their payments, so those artists will email out links to their art once a month after the checks clear, and while they might send old links to new people, that's pretty much up to them. I don't think Marccus does that, though. |
