So I apparently already own Mass Effect 2 and 3 on PC (must've been promotions at some point to get them for free) and was thinking the next time I play these games it will be on PC so I can get the full trilogy Kaidan romance as change from waiting until the third game. So, what's the best mod for getting the romance to work on all three games? I also have to ask, is it easy to get these mods installed? Are there also any other essential mods I might need to fix any bugs, etc. throughout the trilogy? Would definitely appreciate any recommendations/help since I've only ever played these games on PS3!  the best mods that restore eeeeeverything are Rondeeno's www.nexusmods.com/users/41770405?tab=user+files&BH=0they did for LE and standard editions, when you play please share your opinions, Kaidan romance from ME1 to ME3 is a blast and I know the slowburn is so romanticised but it is a torture play as gay Shepard in the first two, never going back to that shit. |

Apart from what Nick said, you want to use the mod manager: www.nexusmods.com/masseffect2/mods/248This simplifies a lot the process, where you just open the mods you have on that program and the manager will do the work of putting them in your game. It also lets you backup the game in case you want to revert any mods or are having problems with a mod you can restore the game unmodded. It works for both normal edition or the new Legendary Edition also known as LE. That's the easiest way to identify which mods are for which version, so if a mod says LE, then is. the new legendary edition of them. The mods also tend to have instructions in their nexus sites so always good to read for any specifics if needed. |

Thank you so much! Davrin's boobs I definitely will post my thoughts when I get a chance to play again! It's going to be a good feeling being able to play a gay Shepard from the beginning and being able to experience the Kaidan romance in a different way! I still think that to date no other romance has ever been as good for me as the Kaidan romance. It's just so different being able build that relationship over an ongoing story and seeing it grow. So much better than only getting to experience it in one, isolated game. I honestly don't know if I will ever be satisfied with another game romance with how shallow they feel in comparison to three games of building that bond. Any other recommendations for mods will be appreciated.  Scottphoto I know I've used the mod manager before, but I just can't remember for what it was. I guess that tells you how little I play games these days. It doesn't feel like it, but it's been years since I've actively modded something and played games in my free time. I hope that can change soon and I can get back into gaming. |

Yeah, what I always say about the matter when it comes up is that sure, I love slowburn, and I also really appreciate how much thematic resonance the relationship has in the idea of missed chances and not saying things sooner. What I don't like, however, is the fact that this is the only way to play the relationship, that it exists as it does not for the sake of portraying Shepard and Kaidan as queer men who are afraid of taking that step and need the push, but because homophobia dictated that Shepard could not say anything before this one point, with the rest of the franchise still leaning heavily into the idea of Shepard as a cishet man.
Like if ME1 had had no romances at all, it'd be one thing. But no, homophobia is the reason that male Shepard cannot romance a man at any point prior to ME3, and I will state that fact openly and loudly, because that's exactly what BioWare said in shipping the Legendary Edition in 2021 with the 2007 homophobia intact.

So since Mass Effect was on sale I went ahead and purchased it. Looking forward to playing these games again soon with a new experience with the Kaidan romance! |

I finally started playing Mass Effect again. It feels so good to be back in the world and I'm excited about going through it again.
It was pretty easy to get mods installed so I can comfortably play with a controller instead of keyboard/mouse.
It's really nice to have the extra Kaidan content right at the start and I'm looking forward to seeing the romance. It's such an amazing change to be able to play a gay Shepard right from the start.
Still really love Ashley as well and kind of wish she didn't have to die later. Someday I'll see her content and romance Steve, but not this time!
One thing I wish was better about this game was the crew. They seem nonexistent after the intro and I wish there was more for them to do/say. Especially Dr. Chakwas. She's my favorite.

Glad you are having fun going back! I do want to try rerun for Cortez eventually myself, probably just start out from ME3 and just change my shepard look, don't think I can be bothered to be unromanced 1-2 again haha. I know for Legendary Edition there's a mod that lets you have both Ashley and Kaidan alive, there is cut content even from ME1 where they both address you been able to do that, so it used to be a thing. With the mod they manage to make it so that you can get both in 2 and 3. Not sure on the logistics of the cutscenes though. But still nice that option exists. Not sure if its on the original versions too. I agree, I wish the crew other than Joker, had more to do in the story, I don't like how Chakwas becomes rather silent with no new lines for a while. |

I'm installing the legendary edition just to see how my canon Shep look like with the -supposedly- improvements haha, I have an itch for big gaymes but I'm gonna control this itch for Mass Effect til the next one is around the corner.
I just saw Rondeeno havent done the mod for ME3, I hope they are ok and life is kind and good to them. People are so anxious in the comment section from nexusmods but maaaaan people have life you know?

I didn't see this before and basically answered you on twitter hahaha but for others to know here, Rondeeno did post some screenshots in the mass effect modding community discord this week that confirms he is still actively working on the me3 mod for kaidan and the Tali and Thane ones too for Legendary Edition. So is still at least active and he's okay! But yeah people get pretty intense when mods are all completely free and no money gain. |
