Popping back in for a sec! For people that were waiting for the game to go on sale, now's your chance. Still can't justify it with Christmas coming, plus no time to play right now. But I am so so tempted.

I'm surprised it's not a bigger sale, but since it started as less than 60-I suppose it makes sense to knock it down slowly.

OH look another trailer that pushes the straight version of Siora. It must be Tuesday in some universe.

Welp, I now have this coming as a Christmas gift. Granted, I'm still getting through a handful of started games, and, even with Vasco, I'm still putting this at the lower end of my to play list, but... It's coming.

I'm probably going to purchase this game the next time it goes on sale...and I will hopefully have my PC fixed by then so I can actually get into it. I've been in the mood for another RPG for some time now and it's about time I give this one a chance.

A lot of people seem to love Vasco so I'm looking forward to it! I'm excited to see how they've improved upon what I loved about The Technomancer!

Having played through most of Greedfall by this point, I don't dislike Vasco, but between the game's general pacing issues, where I had burned through his content by about ten hours in while having at least another twenty hours after, and the fact that he's part of a faction that hasn't seemed all that connected to the actual unfolding plot... Yeah, he really feels like an afterthought.
Him and Aphra, really, both of them feel like if they were cut, the plot of the game would not suffer. The characters with significance to the story have been Kurt and Siora.

Yeah, he really feels like an afterthought. Him and Aphra, really, both of them feel like if they were cut, the plot of the game would not suffer. The characters with significance to the story have been Kurt and Siora. I didn't think Kurt felt all that relevant honestly. I mean he has that one major story beat early on, then he's just there. Siora has more, but even there she felt pretty mute a lot of the game. Honestly, I felt the game's weakest point is making the companions feel alive and a part of the story. The PC and his Cousin were the only characters that felt fully realized to me.

Yeah, I was mostly just thinking of that one particular beat for Kurt. But it happened late enough for me that it at least felt like it had significance enough to better justify him.
I definitely agree about the companions being the weakest part, though. At least half the time, I feel like de Sardet could be wholly on their own and nothing would change. At most, their companions get to be meatshields, rather than really feeling like they’re making a contribution.

Someone did a romance mod that sounds pretty incredible. www.nexusmods.com/greedfall/mods/118In a addition to having repeatable bedroom scenes and removing the ability to fail via the weird flirting system, this mod makes Kurt and Aphra available to both genders. I'm not sure how deep things are since this mod is brand new, but the creator said the made new dialogues for them with same gender De Sardet rather than simply removing the flags. Sort of makes me want to pick up a PC copy of the game and try it.

Sort of makes me want to pick up a PC copy of the game and try it. Downloaded it and already had my first flirt with Kurt! The one weird thing about the mod is that it makes a lot of dialogue available way too early - like I'm literally still in Serene and could ask him about Reiner... to which he asked me if I was jealous. *eyes* Also the mod let's you romance all four of them, so I'm absolutely going to go full polyamorous bisexual De Sardet. Personally I wasn't super heartbroken about Kurt, but this seems great for anyone who was. I might actually do a female De Sardet sometime now that she can be with my girl Aphra

I had a half in progress game before I stopped playing - might finally remake that character and give this mod a whirl at some point as it seems easier, especially with the no wrong dialogue choice. I might know the right choices to pick now, but I'm still salty that my first experience with this game was ruined because I locked myself out of Vasco's romance first time around because of the dumb dialogue system.

Well, somehow I've failed Vasco's romance despite having the no fail mod installed lol. I was able to do it at right when we got to New Serene because the mod unlocks a lot of dialogue right away (although Aphra was immune to this when the other three weren't), but I reloaded because I wanted to do it at the natural times with the personal quests and I just did Vasco's last one and he has nothing to say. Maybe I forgot to do one of his dialogues before personal quest two or something.
I'm not really that upset since he's the one I've already done, so oh well I guess. Kurt and Aphra have one less person to share with. I'm not sure if I'm going to do Siora's or not. I really love this game, but it's got to have the worst romance system ever.

As soon as I finished the treason mission he was reciting poetry to me, so the no fail mod does work as intended.

False alarm. As soon as I finished the treason mission he was reciting poetry to me, so the no fail mod does work as intended. Now the question becomes is who do you kiss at the end of the game, or do all 3 to 4 of them have their own scene? That would quite a pacing brake.
