Not another female Bridge Alliance companion. Why won't video games let me smooch a science guy. 😠Yeah, forget the bull of "nice guy versus bad boy" dichotomy. I want to struggle between the knight in shining armor and "talk nerdy to me"!

Well, confirmed we create our own character, and is that a male Native on that early access roadmap 'first companions' that I see? Whatever they do with romances, I hope they don't follow the same 'you have to pick every perfect dialogue option or you lock yourself out of the romance entirely.' I'm still salty that my first run of Greedfall was ruined because I took the 'wrong' option with Vasco and it locked me out entirely. I know it makes it obvious and 'gamey' but give me the hearts that makes it obvious. (Also helps to not accidentally get ninjamanced by someone you didn't want because you somehow got all of their dialogue options right. Looking at you both female romances. >_>)
The content of the early access you will be able to play will ultimately amount to around 30% of the final game.
I wonder if they will include romantic content or if they'll pull a Rogue Trader and keep any and all romantic content out of early access.

Normally I don't like the flirt markers much, but what Greedfall considered romantic dialogue was fucking wild and almost impossible to do organically lol.

I hate when they act like knowing romance options will ruin the game, when in reality it just informs us if the game is something that will appeal to us on that level or not.

I hate when they act like knowing romance options will ruin the game, when in reality it just informs us if the game is something that will appeal to us on that level or not. Worse is when you make the good faith effort to tell them WHY we have such an issue with not knowing, even discussing the IRL reasons that queer people are uncomfortable with the idea of "finding out" who is romanceable, because it's our ingrained instincts for safety, and they just leave us on read.
Like... Your audience is asking you to make this game feel safe, what is so difficult about it?!

If game devs don't want to say who the romances are then 90% of the time it's for good reason. Usually that the options are incredibly uneven when it comes to choices. I still can't get over Owlcat releasing a companion trailer that only showed straight, and f/f romance options and somehow thought that was a good look for them, and then they had to scurry about and make it clear that Marazhai was also a companion and romance (they tried to keep him more 'secret') because it was giving them bad optics to look like they had zero m/m romances. (Not that confirming Marazhai was good optics either considering *waves in his general direction.*) If companies are keeping romances hidden you can guarantee they're trying to hide something. I'd rather know than spend 30 hours trying to romance a straight guy whilst locking myself out of the only same sex option. (I'd honestly be shocked if there was more than one.) Kurt at least lets you down very quickly but I still cringe at how much it was shoved in your face that he was not a same sex option because he made it clear he only likes women okay even if you didn't flirt with him. And then they made it so much worse by making it very evident he was sexually abused by a superior and making it feel like *that* is why he wasn't an m/m option.

I'm not buying the game if the m/m romance involves motorboating our love interest again for that matter. (at least not at full price, and possibly wait for used)

"More options for romance"....let me guess...straight players get several options while LGBTQ+ players get only one... Hopefully I'm wrong and we get more than one choice this time. I took a peek at Vasco's romance and it seemed nice, even if there wasn't much to it. Hopefully they will also be more content than in the first game/Technomancer.
I've kind of been in the mood to give Greedfall another chance. I just don't know if I'll have the time for it right now. Hopefully I enjoy it more this time. I might just not have been in the right mindset when I first played due to being extra busy/stressed with school.

Looks wise NÃlan is not giving me much at this time. However, I have learned that voice and personality in games goes much further than looks so I'll wait and see. I hate that they announced he's a romance but not who can romance him. v.v

He's not really doing it for me looks wise either but will reserve judgement until we know what he's like (and who can romance him anyway.) Considering guys/girls had a female Native romance option in the first game it wouldn't surprise me if they made him bi to 'make it even' but I also don't trust them so.

How do the faces somehow look worse than they did in the first game.
The UI looks rough though it's early access so they might make it look less shit but the combat... yeaaah.
I'm not digging Nilan. Looks worse than the art they posted of him, which is a shame. Maybe the personality will win me over (if he's even a romance/bi.)

So, I finally started Greedfall, 4-5 hours into it so far and not sure about it. On the one hand, I like that is an rpg with the design I like in terms of dialogues, romances, voiced custom protagonist, world hubs, etc in a very different setting then just sci fi and medieval fantasy. However, I'm having a hard time getting into the lore for this one, now the characters themselves for the most part seem interesting enough so far and I enjoy my protagonist but all the political stuff in the game with all the factions seems overly complicated for the sake of being complex rather than interesting. There are also weird inconsistencies, where I just met Siora and added her to my companions and next side mission, she is super caring for Kurt lol, as if they spend a long time together. There's also this story moment where you arrive to this new city and a native is being murdered in the street and your char and Siora do nothing or even react to the murder until later. I understand they can't do anything about it but at least show my chars care lol. Anyway, those things aside I'm curious how the chars develop. Yes, I'm sad Kurt no homo me but alas, will see if I like the game enough for me to get it on steam and mod him XD. But I like Vasco so far so I'm fine with him. My main gripe with the game though is the gameplay is sooo tedious. The quests have like 20 steps and half of them involve going back and forth on the same npcs over and over again, going through buildings with 40 doors.Like god is so frustrating to navigate. On the bright side, I like that there's many ways to tackle missions, on the negative side of this, most of them require certain upgrade/skill that you probably won't have so early on in the game, so you are screwed for trying to sidequest so early in the game. But yeah, this is the first chunk of hours, will see as I make more story progress and stop torturing myself with these side missions, if things kick in. After all, Cyberpunk took me a while until the heist kicked in that really got me into the whole thing, so I guess will see if that happens here for me or will just be a whole session just for Vasco lol. (Also they won't let me be unequip gear and be shirtless, minus several points).

Yeah at first is a little overwhelming and you are kinda lost with the lore but it gets better later. Dont expect a Dragon Age big lore but its a cool AA game (ignoring the unfairness about romance distribution ofc)
I feel like Technomancer was a richer world and with companions reaction to each other making sense though. Only problem with that game is the combat, harder and annoying with the spawn of enemies which they improved it here, thats why I find it weird the change of the combat for the EA of the second game, it doesnt make sense to me.

Yeah. The combat in technomancer was bad bad. Especially early game-if you aren't dodge rolling all the time it's so easy to be one-shot by someone off screen. Balances out eventually...but darn starting that game was $hi+.

I do want to try Technomancer eventually, only thing I saw bad on that one was the combat, and you all confirm it XD. On Greedfall I been hating running out of ammo and not being able to just easily grab more but I been doing okay overall with the combat aside from that.
I managed to do the Vasco romance! For starters, if I didn't look for a guide I probably would have failed because none of those dialogues made sense to go like ah yeah this will start a romance XD. When it all came down to it, I liked it, given the limits of course of the game being AA and not triple, it's good enough. Animations could have been better for that kiss though; I didn't understand half of what was going on and I had to unequip all their bulky shoulder pads armors in order to actually see something. But I liked the romance in that is something that seems to happen natural on them and not something awkward or "forbidden". I also liked that they did remove our hats for the scene, since the game refuses to give me an option to unequip. Overall, I'm enjoying playing something different so far, but I don't see myself replaying this one at least on console, on pc maybe heavily mod it because is such a drag in some areas. But I am very interested in finishing it as I hope to find out more about the background of my character, especially regarding the mark on his face. Fun fact, on PlayStation you get a trophy for each romance in the game if you romance them, and PS trophies tells you which trophy is the least earned, meaning the char less romanced. The character least romanced is Kurt, followed by Aphra and then Vasco, wrapping up with Siora on top. Now imagine if Kurt was available for all, if the results would be different, because that's whats helping Vasco's numbers here being number 2, granted perhaps Vasco is also more interesting for those playing female chars too, I don't know something curious to analyze.
