Not another female Bridge Alliance companion. Why won't video games let me smooch a science guy. 😠Yeah, forget the bull of "nice guy versus bad boy" dichotomy. I want to struggle between the knight in shining armor and "talk nerdy to me"!

Well, confirmed we create our own character, and is that a male Native on that early access roadmap 'first companions' that I see? Whatever they do with romances, I hope they don't follow the same 'you have to pick every perfect dialogue option or you lock yourself out of the romance entirely.' I'm still salty that my first run of Greedfall was ruined because I took the 'wrong' option with Vasco and it locked me out entirely. I know it makes it obvious and 'gamey' but give me the hearts that makes it obvious. (Also helps to not accidentally get ninjamanced by someone you didn't want because you somehow got all of their dialogue options right. Looking at you both female romances. >_>)
The content of the early access you will be able to play will ultimately amount to around 30% of the final game.
I wonder if they will include romantic content or if they'll pull a Rogue Trader and keep any and all romantic content out of early access.

Normally I don't like the flirt markers much, but what Greedfall considered romantic dialogue was fucking wild and almost impossible to do organically lol.

I hate when they act like knowing romance options will ruin the game, when in reality it just informs us if the game is something that will appeal to us on that level or not.

Worse is when you make the good faith effort to tell them WHY we have such an issue with not knowing, even discussing the IRL reasons that queer people are uncomfortable with the idea of "finding out" who is romanceable, because it's our ingrained instincts for safety, and they just leave us on read.
Like... Your audience is asking you to make this game feel safe, what is so difficult about it?!

If game devs don't want to say who the romances are then 90% of the time it's for good reason. Usually that the options are incredibly uneven when it comes to choices. I still can't get over Owlcat releasing a companion trailer that only showed straight, and f/f romance options and somehow thought that was a good look for them, and then they had to scurry about and make it clear that Marazhai was also a companion and romance (they tried to keep him more 'secret') because it was giving them bad optics to look like they had zero m/m romances. (Not that confirming Marazhai was good optics either considering *waves in his general direction.*) If companies are keeping romances hidden you can guarantee they're trying to hide something. I'd rather know than spend 30 hours trying to romance a straight guy whilst locking myself out of the only same sex option. (I'd honestly be shocked if there was more than one.) Kurt at least lets you down very quickly but I still cringe at how much it was shoved in your face that he was not a same sex option because he made it clear he only likes women okay even if you didn't flirt with him. And then they made it so much worse by making it very evident he was sexually abused by a superior and making it feel like *that* is why he wasn't an m/m option.

I'm not buying the game if the m/m romance involves motorboating our love interest again for that matter. (at least not at full price, and possibly wait for used)
