While I don't really have the time to do another run of this game with the backlog I still have to get through (On the RPG front alone, I still have Pillars 2 and Pathfinder Kingmaker, let alone anything else on the shelves surrounding this), I've been rewatching through DanaDuchy's playlist, and... Yeah, I definitely am beginning to come around on this game, to the point of honestly kinda wanting a sequel of some kind, revisiting this universe and setting.
Might have something to do with the disastrous rollout of Cyberpunk dulling the frustration from this game. Funny how a new enraging thing dulls the rage of the previous thing...

...
I'm not sure how I feel about that. Like, okay, good that there's actually a reason to be willing to buy the game on next gen platforms, considering this game is only a year old and has no reason to be remastered already...
...But I don't like the idea of new content locked to next gen as a result, considering... y'know, ONE YEAR OLD GAME, it's still running fine on the PS4/XB1, we don't really NEED this upgrade.

It's gonna have to be some pretty nice content for me to even bother to pick up the game again honestly. Though it's good they confirmed the extra content is for everyone as it really did sound like it was next gen only.

I wonder what the content would be even? I hope it adds romance content...it won't though will it...meh

My first guess would be some various new equipment, possibly things like the dialogue patch for misgendering and maybe clarifying the romance lines. I wouldn't be against seeing some new quests or something, some better character integration, new conversations and such (and, y'know, the straight romances being bi), but I'm not gonna put money on it, considering that it would mean bringing actors back to the studio, cutscene conversations, and those are some of the most expensive parts of development, so they wouldn't be doing that casually.
Suppose we'll have to see. And if, by some deeply unlikely quirk of fate, they DO make Kurt a romance for M!De Sardet, I guess I'll be replaying this...
Hey, I may not be putting money on it, but hope springs eternal and all that...

So how do we feel about the (allegedly story) DLC coming out years later?

Until it’s officially confirmed, I remain opinionless on the result.
Though if this does spark a trend of DLC for games after the traditional roughly one year cycle, this could be a good thing, a minimized risk of reinvigorating supposedly dead games when opinions have had time to simmer and reflect. We’ll see.

Story dlc coming out years later is... weird. It mostly depends on what it might be and when it takes place in the story. I'm honestly not sure what they even could add in story wise at this point. I wouldn't be against new content or against patches and fixes (the misgendering issue, the weird and highly annoying skintone bug, etc.) I'll wait and see what it is (if it happens) before I care enough. I did three full playthroughs and got started on a third but just got bored and eventually stopped playing. New story if it was interesting enough might be enough for me to do another playthrough.

I guess we'll find out if it's worth a go or not on the 30th. I am curious about the cost of the dlc.

I mean reading the little blurb about the 'expansion' it's adding new story of some sort... but whether it'll be worth it or add anything to the overall story is anyone's guess. It can probably be played at any point also so I don't know if it'd even have any romance content (companions might even be mute in it.) I think I'll definitely wait to see what it's like before I bother.

It's only seven dollars so I don't think it'll be very big, but who knows. I really enjoyed the game, so I'm hoping it'll make me want to replay.

I think we’ll see more DLC years after games come out as RPGs take seemingly longer and longer to make, especially smaller companies could benefit from the buzz/slight boost to income.
Bethesda kinda did this with Skyrim, on the Creation Club they have quests they’ve released years later. They aren’t mods. Even though they are but they insist they’re canon and not mods. Even though they are made by modders.
I never played this game, and knowing there’s new content has increased the chance I would buy it. Probably won’t, but the chance is now non zero lol. So it is effective.

It's also entirely possible (and in my amateur opinion, probable) that this new content is not a post-game element but new content set in-game proper - less Trespasser, more Warden's Keep, y'know? Since the game proper has no post-game play, it's very likely that any new content will take place in-game, to encourage a new playthrough if you want to play it. In fact, that seems cost-effective for an RPG, that if they put in the time and effort and money in creating variations in game, players should be encouraged to play a second round somehow.
So, y'know, the idea is this new content is meant to evoke that "huh, now I kinda want to play a new game" feeling.

I have to admit for 7 bucks I'll probably check it out. Still, I'll probably wait to see a review or 2. It's sad to say, but since dlc for Ass Creed Oddysey I'm gun shy about dlc now.

Not like I'm much different - I haven't picked up Wrath of the Druids for Valhalla, for example, I'm waiting on the result of whatever happens in Siege of Paris, how well that treats us. Like, I'm lukewarm at best because Wrath of the Druids did offer a female romance but no male one (of course...), but I'll probably still play both of them if there's no forced romance in Siege. But I'm fucking WAITING before I do anything.

I am pretty happy with the content already there.

I might make a new character the expansion out eventually. I had been part way through one when I stopped playing so I may do that. I'm not in any rush to replay through it currently, but I wanna see these 'updated visuals' and other things. Plus more mods to try since I last played a few years ago. Edit: Definitely going to make a new character. One of the mods I tested was a romance one that not only allows same sex romances but also adds/splices together new dialogue and lets you flirt with the character again if you'd already been turned down by them. So I tested with my first character who got turned down by Kurt (and as I was well past all of his companion stuff I was able to test all the romance in one go lol.) Not only was it a complete success, but it also seemed to remove his 'my Lady' remarks, so the romance ended up feeling far more natural, and it also fixed the romance scene itself so no having to tweak animations for it to work. Which simply makes it even more of a shame that Kurt wasn't an m/m option because it flows so nicely with this mod. Because the extra dialogue is spliced together using lines from elsewhere, it's even voiced.
