Don't get your hopes up on dragon age. I think the bioware that made the last one is dead. It's now obvious that the BW teams are very separate, even if they do borrow people from each other. If EA concentrates on only meddling in MEA and Anthem, the next DA will be as good as the last one.

THQ Nordic, the same ones that made Elex. Nope. Piranha Bytes made Elex, THQ just published it. I can tell just by the screenshots that PB didn't touch this. The devs for this game are Black Forest Games. They've made some small titles. The more concerning thing is that they were partially created from the now defunct Spellbound Entertainment, and they were a very mediocre studio... Sorry, my mistake. Still, not that interested in it either

You are dangerously optimistic that the cancer hasn't already spread to the *dream team* no matter how separate they are.

Eh the early access thing with Fade to Silence is worrying, and there's a chance it will be a pure survival, gather stuff kind of game with little story... I guess we'll see soon.

DAI did well, both critically and financially, EA already butted in and told the old ME team, what to do. If they leave the team alone, like they did with DAI, the next DA will be ok.

Beefy TitansSeems like they forgot to announce who won for Best Multiplayer. Wonder how they're going to fix this one.

Not necessarily a bad year, but not one for me. Oh, Dragon Age, when will ye return to us? Don't get your hopes up on dragon age. I think the bioware that made the last one is dead. Rouccoco basically answered for me, but no, it isn't dead. Only BW Montreal is really dead, given its closure/merge into other branches of EA. I'm a lot less worried for DA4 than I was for ME:A. What they do with the story has a significant chance of disappointing me, however. I didn't watch the awards, but saw this elsewhere. Not going back through the thread's 16 pages... Was Bethesda's message about SP games and gamers already discussed? I dunno what I feel about that. On the one hand, I think it's an important message. On the other, the whole mocking tone is just gross; I don't find it cute or funny in the least. It doesn't help that they're shilling their own games in the process instead of presenting the general message of "We know that the SP experience is a valuable one and we will continue to make SP games." I also have mixed feelings about it. I thought the ad for SP games itself was amusing, but the plug for their sale was sort of lame. Still, I'd say a big publisher/developer supporting SP games at an awards show is still a net-gain. And those "burns" of microtransactions by people at points in the show, they're not very genuine to me since they ran ads for Battlefront 2. If they truly cared they wouldn't endorse that mess. Sorry Drell, but I'm still not sure why you think making fun of microtransactions is somehow advertising SW:BFII. They seemed very genuine to me Beefy Titans Seems like they forgot to announce who won for Best Multiplayer. Wonder how they're going to fix this one. The winner was: Store Wars: Battlefund II
...Obviously

Oh, and I forgot to simply mention that it was fun posting here as a group in near-real time when the show was on! Look forward to doing that again sometime. Stay awesome, everyone!

Whether they were genuine or not, they fucked it up.

I missed the VGA's due to work...I'm only hype for Soul Calibur 6, Shadows Die Twice (depending on what it actually is), and that bit you know this one.

Maybe its a Bloodborne 2, but I've heard speculation that it could be something else (going off the writing on the paper, the tool stabbed into the paper, and the music having some Japanese instruments, and it sharing a sound cue from some horror game) like Tenchu or Ku-on(?)

Not my interpretation, I got it from here and here.

On the one hand, if EA were smart, they'd remember the success DAI had and keep their hands off the rudder. On the other hand, when have EA ever been smart? Sorry Drell, but I'm still not sure why you think making fun of microtransactions is somehow advertising SW:BFII. Whether they were genuine or not, they fucked it up. I'm not too inclined to get excited about it either way. Making jokes about microtransactions is a pretty safe play right now, so I doubt it was some strongly principled stance. That said, it's not like this kind of award show is gonna have a long line of potential advertisers - cutting EA out of the loop is probably asking too much if you want them to be able to turn the lights on.

EA had to do nothing to make Andromeda a success and look what happened to it. No I have negative faith in them not to screw this up.

You can say I'm overreacting but mark my words if you think DA4 won't be tainted no matter what team they have working on it.

You can't expect EA to act like a rational actor here. Edit: More or less, anyway. I don't blame anyone for being optimistic, I'm just not ready to call this a sure thing.

I got burned to my soul with Andromeda so I will never ever ever trust them again no matter how promising anything pre release looks.
