Due to unhappiness at how the last PT panned out, I've started a new one from scratch. This one is Troy Shepard. He's a Spacer/Engineer/Sole Survivor. (Never played this class before.) He romanced no one in ME1, saved the rachni queen, saved Wrex, saved Kaidan, saved the Council and chose Anderson to be the first human Councilor. Appearance-wise, he's Sheploo, so that makes it easy. Not doing much today but want to get things moving and see if Thane can be romanced. Did install a mod that seems to have put Shepard in an Alliance uniform. Wonder if this will translate to the entire crew. Played through opening up to chat with TIM. This is a Paragon Shepard who not only remembers the times he fought Cerberus but also that Cerberus was behind Akuze. No friendly relationship with TIM here but Shepard is pragmatic when it comes to the Reapers.

There's more I could do but this game was buggy as hell. Therefore, I'm going to put an end to it. Never was able to flirt with Jacob or Thane. Ah, the mod didn't work? It didn't. Did a "repair" of the game through Origin. Hopefully that will fix things. However, I did have to add in an additional mod to allow for non-Cerberus casual clothes. Can't do another PT dressed that way. There are mods out there for FemShep but only unlocks from BroShep.

If it's too sluggish you'll know it's a problem. (I thing I discovered with The Witcher 3, though I do have a computer that can run it - the one I bought for MEA.)

Troy Shepard investigated Freedom's Progress with Miranda and Jacob. No sign of human life but did find some quarians, including my friend Tali. One quarian had been there on Pilgrimage and recorded video of the alien Collectors hauling off colonists in some strange pods. Couldn't convince Tali to come with me.
Talked to TIM about reassembling my old squad but every one of them was unavailable. I was going to have to work with his picks. He did give me a ship and a pilot I knew very well. Joker said the Alliance pulled the old squad apart and grounded him but I'm not quite sure how Cerberus lured him over. The new ship was impressive, much larger than the old Normandy, and we opted to call it the Normandy SR2.
Had a lot on my agenda, including messages from Anderson and Hackett. Needed a salarian scientist first and foremost because he could devise protection against the Collector seeker swarms that immobilize their victims. Still, I headed to Alchera. That's where I died, as did 20 other crew members. I was asked to place a memorial there and collect the dog tags of the lost. It was the least I could do. Brought back a lot of memories. Also left me baffled since my old helmet was there. How did I survive without my helmet?
That out of the way, I headed to the Omega space station. Ran into Zaeed Massani, a mercenary that was on my list of potential recruits. He was being paid but also had a mission he needed doing: liberate the Eldfell-Ashland Refinery from the Blue Suns. Seemed okay to me. Something I might have done regardless.

Lee , if download time is a concern for you, try the ME3 Demo; it includes the prologue in Vancouver and part of Sur'Kesh. That's what I used the last time I wasn't sure if a computer I had would run ME3. I have to give Bioware credit for the Mass Effect games' performance; in my experience, it's not that hard to get them to run pretty smoothly, even with contemporary hardware.

Troy Shepard:
- Was told I needed to speak to Aria T'Loak "now". She runs Omega and she pointed me to Mordin Solus, who runs a clinic and is trying to find a cure for a plague that is killing everyone except humans and vorcha. I suspected I was going to have to help put a stop to it. Saved a dying batarian along the way and promised to send help. Stopped human looters from continuing what they were doing. It makes us look bad (and people already think we caused the plague) and who's to say the dead don't have families who deserve the belongings of their loved ones? Convinced some humans to take a chance on getting to Mordin's clinic. Killed a lot of Blue Suns mercs, quite happily. Mordin agreed to help but first needed me to inject the cure into the environmental systems - which had just been shut down by the vorcha. I killed a lot of vorcha, inserted the cure, rescued Mordin's assistant and was on my way.
- Made the rounds to the crew. Dr. Chakwas was there, which surprised the hell out of me. She was there because of me. She said she had everything from her old med bay except a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy. I said I'd get her one. Rupert Gardner was the cook and plumber. He would love to get his hands on some spices to make meals better. Definitely important. In Engineering there was Kenneth Donnelly and Gabriella Daniels, both ex-Alliance who had left because they disagreed intensely with the Alliance over Sovereign being one of many vs an isolated geth creation. They needed a thingy to make their work a lot easier. I'd take care of it. A happy crew was just going to make life easier all around. Besides, I planned to take this ship from TIM at the end of this mission. If the crew followed me, even better. EDI the ship's AI might be a problem, especially since I was locked out of the AI core, but I had some time to sort it out.
- Back to Aria to find out about Archangel. Turned out all the mercs were out to get him. Sounded like someone I'd get along with well. I signed up with the merc gangs so I could get to Archangel. Zaeed, Jacob and I would turn the tables once we got there. Before heading over, I paid a quarian's way off this shithole, bought that thingy for my engineers and purchased a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy. Then, into the war zone. EDI gave us a couple of pointers about how we might weaken the mercs. Found a heavy mech. Scrambled it's friend/foe ID, meaning it would attack anyone in its presence. The mercs would be closest. Tarak, the leader of this operation and the Blue Suns on Omega, knew Zaeed by name. It got us more intel that he'd have otherwise said. Last stop was Cathka, a batarian mechanic who was working on a gunship. I put an end to him so that the gunship was never fully repaired. Then headed over.
- Once I got to the other side, I took out the freelancers. Hardly worth the effort. Made our way up to Archangel. When everyone currently there had been cleared off he removed his helmet. It was Garrus Vakarian. Damn, it was good to see him. Here he was on my list of recruits and he's one of the people I'd wanted back with me. First, though, we had to take care of the mercs. Blue Suns, Eclipse and Blood Pack weren't going to be quite as easy as the freelancers. And...crash!

While trying to figure out the problem with ME2 crashes (can't get through Archangel mission), I decided to create Nathan Shepard for ME1. Engineer/Sole Survivor/Colonist.

Ryder, Jaal, and Liam made a lot of progress on Kadara, completeing some odd jobs for a doctor, Sloane, and even Reyes Vidal. Reyes later invited Ryder to a party (don't tell Jaal but he might have kissed Reyes to keep from getting in trouble with a guard). After that Sloane asked Ryder to watch her back, so he watched it get shot. She might have been more descriptive of what she wanted from Ryder. After finishing up there Ryder founded a settlement on Kadara and then fought an architect. Good times! UP next Ryder, Jaal, and Vetra are going to investigate some missing settlers. Here's hoping it's not a trap. (It's a trap!)

Sorry, I've gone through some weird stuff in the past month, from an injury to, after I got over it, a bad cold. Anyway, here's some stuff about Nathan Shepard:
-Summoned to see Captain Anderson and that turian Spectre, Nihlus. Everyone just knew that his presence meant that our mission to Eden Prime wasn't going to be as easy as it seemed. Joker and Alenko argued about it. So did Pressly and Adams. As well as Jenkins and Chakwas. A Spectre was big news and probably big danger. I promised I'd find out what I could. - When I got to the Comm Room, Nihlus is there but no sign of Anderson. Strange, because Anderson summoned me and made it clear that he was with Nihlus. Nihlus kept asking me questions about Eden Prime, if we were really capable of keeping it safe, if humanity was even ready to be out among the stars. I said we were ready but made it clear I found his questions to be damn strange. - Anderson showed up and said it was time I knew the truth. A Prothean beacon had been found and needed to be taken to the Citadel for study. Last beacon we found, on Mars, pushed us forward about 200 years technologically. Who knew what this one could do, especially with better tools available to study it? Nihlus also said this was the first of three missions where he'd be observing me. He had put my name forward as a candidate to be a Spectre. Very unusual for a couple of reasons: one, turians and humans don't typically get along; and two, every other Spectre is from a Council race. If I did become a Spectre, I might well be the only one from a non-Council race. - Before we could go much further, an alert came from Joker. He forwarded a transmission from Eden Prime. It was under attack by unknown forces. One other thing we saw was an enormous ship in the sky. The mission parameters were now a bit different. Jenkins and Alenko would be accompanying me while Nihlus scouted ahead to find out what was going on. - Disaster his pretty quickly. We'd seen dead bodies everywhere, and Jenkins was shaken since this was his homeworld, but we were dealing with forces beyond the norm. When we saw no active enemies, I sent Jenkins forward. Unfortunately, there were flying turrets waiting to attack. Jenkins never stood a chance and they tore right through his shields. Warned, Alenko and I made short work of them but it was too late for Jenkins. Poor kid. He was so eager to prove himself and he didn't even get further than his homeworld. - Alenko and I went forward, continuing to encounter resistance. We cane upon a lone marine, Ashley Williams, who was on the run from the enemy. We helped her defeat them and discovered we were facing geth, a race of synthetic beings who hadn't been seen in over 200 years, long before humans came on the scene. Had to be after the beacon. Williams was the only survivor of her own squad so I asked her to join with us. We'd need the help and she seemed very capable. - At the beacon site, the beacon was gone. No idea if we moved it or the geth were behind it but either way we had to find it. Came across two surviving scientists, one who seemed a little on the crazy side, but this whole situation was insane so I wasn't ready to write off anything I heard just yet. - We'd seen some humans on spikes and figured it was just a way of terrorizing anyone who came after. It was much worse. The spikes dropped and we could see circuitry and wires laced throughout the bodies. Like zombies, they rose up and attacked us, even exploding as they drew close. They were tougher than the geth but mindless. Worse, killing fellow humans seemed wrong but we had no choice. I had to believe they were really dead and we were simply preventing their corpses from being dishonored.

Nathan's Story:
- Spoke to some farmers. They didn't know what was going on except that when the large ship appeared it gave off a noise that seemed to reach down inside of them. Confirmed by a dockworker I met later. (Incidentally, a farmer and the dockworker were involved in a smuggling ring. I let it go in exchange for some weapons to help me and they both vowed to never smuggle again.) The dockworker also said the beacon had been moved to a different docking area. - The body of Nihlus was there, clearly having been shot from behind. Seemed unlikely for a Spectre to be so unprepared. The dockworker said another turian named Saren had been there and that Nihlus let his guard down. Then Saren shot him in the head. Disturbing, since it meant someone Nihlus trusted had betrayed him. - We followed the trail, fighting more geth and more...well, husks is what we came up with, since they're the emptied out remains of humans. Also had to disable some bombs since they were trying to destroy the beacon. Stopped them from happening but Williams decided to take a closer look at the beacon while I called in to say we'd secured it. The beacon was glowing green, something she said it hadn't done earlier at the dig sight. When I looked over, she was suspended in the air by this strange energy. I leapt up and knocked her out of harms way. Unfortunately, that same energy grabbed me. It instilled me with visions of synthetics destroying organics. Didn't know if it was a warming or something that had already happened. The geth were only 300 years old so they couldn't have been behind the destruction of the Protheans. Made me think this was some kind of warning. That could be why Saren and the geth wanted this destroyed, so we'd be unprepared for their attack. - I next woke up aboard the Normandy in the med bay. Fifteen hours had passed. Chakwas said I was fine other than that I had some signs of dreaming. Williams was next to me, feeling guilty for having gotten too close to the beacon. Turned out after the beacon was done with me that it had exploded. That was bad news. Anderson trusted me when I said I'd done nothing wrong. This was supported by Alenko's own report, as well as that of Williams, who had officially joined the crew of the Normandy.
- Headed to the Citadel. Had to give testimony to the Citadel Council. Turned out Saren was a Spectre, and had some bad history with Anderson. We didn't actually have any evidence against Saren and even I could see that my "visions" from the beacon weren't valid in court. Though, honestly, some of that asari mind melding would probably have done the trick if it was something that allowed as testimony. It might still just mean that *I* believed a thing, not that said thing was necessarily true. So it was off to find evidence.

More about Nathan:
- My investigations led me to Garrus Vakarian, the C-Sec officer who thought Saren was dirty. He was helping a clinic doctor who was under fire. These guys had been sent by a thug named Fist, one time agent of the Shadow Broker who was now working for Saren. Long story short, a quarian Dr. Michel had treated had information that directly implicated Saren. Garrus wanted in and I wasn't about to turn down help. - Fist was ready for us but they were no match for Alenko, Vakarian and myself. In the end, Fist surrendered and gave us directions to the quarian, but we were on a timer. I let Fist go not because I'm a nice guy but killing in cold blood doesn't suit me. - I found that quarian being groped in a VERY creepy way by a turian. I couldn't hear what they were saying but she backed away from him. Then some salarians came forward with guns drawn. The quarian was prepared, throwing a grenade at them. Then I intervened and they were all dead. I told the quarian, Tali'Zorah nar Rayya, why I'd come looking for her. She had a recording of Saren talking about Eden Prime that she'd got from the memory core of a geth. Brought that to Ambassador Udina, who in turn played it for the Council (as well as additional voice logs implicating asari Matriarch Benezia). Just like that, Saren lost his position and, to allow me the freedom to track him down, I was made, wait for it...the First. Human. Spectre. - Udina wanted to gather resources for me, since he said I'd need my own ship and crew. While he worked on that, I helped a few people around the Citadel. Not worth getting into but it's always useful to have people owing me favors, big and small alike. Never know when they'll come in handy. Also recruited the krogan Wrex, who had been hired to take down Fist. For whatever reason, he was interested in taking out Saren and I was willing to take anyone who wanted to help. Quite the inter-species squad I have going.

Nathan Shepard:
- Captain Anderson stepped down and turned command of the Normandy over to me! That's...wow, really amazing. I feel bad that he's now stuck being Udina's assistant. That guy's an asshole. He deserves to be promoted to admiral or something, but maybe they think he can help me more from the Citadel, at least for now. - Gave a speech to the crew, telling them we had to do our part. We can't just stand by an expect things to be handed to us. We had to earn it. We'd start by taking down Saren and stopped the Reapers from destroying everything. - Went to Eletania and found a few things of interest. First, a Prothean ruin with a large silver, reflective globe hovering over it. It was mostly smooth but had a slot that perfectly fit the trinket Sha'ira gave me after helping her out. That's some damn crazy coincidence. I know asari are psychic when they mind meld but I didn't think they could see the future. Second thing was this lost probe that was taken by...space monkeys. Tracked it down to deep inside of a mine. No idea how they even got in past the locked doors that need a code or a hack. Strange, but I got the job done. Admiral Hackett should be happy. Was attacked by geth on the way out. No idea what they were doing there. - Headed to Feros to investigate some save the colony from a geth attack. Brought Alenko and Wrex with me. Very first thing that happened is some dude told me "Fai Dan" wanted to see me. Then he was murdered by geth. Damn things were everywhere. The colonists were also weird. Extremely weird. - Helped the colony with some problems it was having, including the geth, and then took the Mako across an amazing Prothean skyway. Too bad it was covered with geth. The ExoGeni corporation had been investigating ruins and I had to save their asses, too. There was something unusual going on, not quite sure what. - Learned that there was an alien life form present called the Thorian. It was some kind of plant but the scientist I spoke to didn't know much about it. Or so she claimed. When I accessed a VI with her credentials, I learned that the Thorian was sentient and its spores could control the minds of other organics. Worse, ExoGeni knew that the Thorian was controlling the colonists. That explained why they were acting weird.
