I honestly can't even do his quest anymore. I am just like.."play poker with gil? Nope...can't go there, love myself too much. " Oh, yeah. I know that. I just don't click with Jaal as a romance and I loathe Reyes, so if I'm going to have ANYTHING in terms of romance, I HAVE to wade through the muck. And considering how much I hate my Inquisitors being forever alone in Dragon Age, I can't do the no romance thing, so...
It's a REALLY aggravating situation BioWare forced us to be in. Remember when they said that they'd offer improvements to BroRyder's male love interests in the plural? Funny how that never happened...
I can't relate. It's like hearing someone say they don't like oxygen. lolz! Jokes aside though, it is horrific thing for them to never fix the content, and never apologize for it either. Which is the bare-minimum of what they should have done for GilMancers. |

I mean, I have played it, done it a couple of times, actually. And I'm never gonna regret standing for letting Jaal be a male Ryder romance. It just... For whatever reason, it doesn't click for me. Something about it, maybe the "meet the family" sequence actively tripping my anxiety to a bad degree (the angara's large families really feels claustrophobic at times...), maybe the fact that I repeatedly get the banters of Jaal making flirtatious remarks with/about the female companions in the Nomad... Just doesn't really work for me.
And just... Yeah, my Tumblr is going full salt on the treatment of Gil right now with the current new run I'm doing. It's just horrible. AT BEST, I can say that this is a story that seriously missed the mark by focusing on the endpoint ("gay dads") at the expense of the journey, but... Honestly, even knowing that on a financial return point, they probably weren't going to rip out and replace Gil's entire story, I still say that BioWare SHOULD have eaten that cost, because they managed to make this horrendously homophobic story and thought they'd get brownie points out of it by being progressive for gays having kids.

dgcatanisiri I still don't get why they thought gay men would want to share their child with a woman in the future world where people can make babies without a second parent even (Miranda). It's just moronic and shows a lack of imagination, homophobia, and a huge lack of care on their part. I still feel like that content was not for us, but for the people bitching about colonies needing breeders.

Yeah, the kindest interpretation I've had about that is that they were trying to refute that crowd, but doing so in such a tonedeaf way that it actually supported their ideas.
Again, BEST CASE. I'd really rather not consider the worst case, easy as it may be to do so...
I don't know what was going on in that writer's room, but I'd give real money to be able to go back and be able to stand in there and speak out about how utterly shit this is. I don't know if it would accomplish anything, but I could at least feel like I was being heard when it was needed to be said...

Fixed Voeld's vault, defeated Architect on Veold, saved Moshae, visited Aya's vault, told Jaal I'm interested in him, went to Kadara and fixed their vault. I also scanned 18 planets. PS: telling Peebs I'm not interested was painful  |
