I totally agree Andrew Mancer!! Hopefully Bethesda still has the same philosophy of giving the players option and agency over their own stories instead of giving straights quality and quantity and mlm/wlw getting the short end of the stick as always, every time I think about DA4 or ME5 my soul is hurting lol What I'm hoping for this game is going beyond Fallout 4 and giving us less companions but more content, I mean Skyrim was cute and Fallout 4 was even deeper and it was great, now I need moooore!

Honestly I'd rather have romance be more like Fallout 4 (but much deeper) than gated because I will inevitably, and without fail, fall for the romance choice I can't have. (Though if there's a companion/npc who isn't a romance, I will probably want them the most. Looking at you Deacon.)
But it does make me a teeny bit more interested in the game, especially if those people in the art are companions. I've no idea if this game has companions? or just npcs you run into? I know very little other than space.

Placide Vasco the robot is a confirmed companion, or at least that's what devs have been calling it (him?) in some videos, so finger crossed there will be a good spectrum of companions to choose. I hope they increase the number for how many can go with you cause I want to have my boo always by my side

(To be fair you had plenty of options to mock me over in that game. I have three V's and not a single one has a canon romance. ) Hopefully, I much prefer games where we have actual companions we can run around with rather than just npcs we go talk to. The robot looks fun, reminds me of a Loader Bot from Borderlands a bit. I would hope maybe the others are also companions or people we meet and aren't just there for the art. Though the robot being called Vasco is just... gonna be weird.

Nick hyping himself up. Just don't get ahead of yourself and end up disappointed.
But the game does look good and I'll happily take Fallout in Space this game until I get another Fallout. I am curious about the 'one thousand planets' thing though because no way can that many planets be interesting and have unique stuff as that's just a crazy amount of resources (and I would feel compelled to visit every single one.) I am looking forward to the base building though because I loved it in FO4 even if my bases weren't very extravagant.

It definitely looks pretty. I’m kinda fascinated by how much they’ve resisted the sleek aesthetics of modern sci fi tech. Like this imagery feels so much more like real world tech. It’s interesting.

I mean if they showed them in the concept art with the robot companion... it has got to mean something #toosoon also besids body type (yay not playing as gym boy again lol) I noticed you can choose walk style its coming and I'm here for it

I'm hoping that they are somehow important even if not companions considering that they are featured in the splash art along with the robot companion we see in the footage. Though possibly only having three companions to choose between would be interesting and unlike other games - but if that means that the character is more fleshed out I don't mind too much. I'm hyped for a lot of things we saw in it, especially for character customization.

Let me romance the robot. In all seriousness the customization really pull me in and the immersive world, just hope it does look as good when it launches.

It's a Bethesda title. We all know it's going to be buggy as hell on release and as long as nothing breaks it's probably the only game company I'd let get away with some bugs because I still have fond memories of Skyrim and Fallout bugs over the years. Definitely excited for the customization though, I already know I'll be picking Diplomat for my first choice lol, and can't wait to look at those traits. Also looks like three factions you can join with the space pirate one looking to be the more 'evil' of the choices. I'd have to see what they're all like first though.

omg the rabbit hole I'm getting myself into The blonde woman is obviously important, and space daddy has to be too the female voice saying "the new guys found it" has to be the blonde woman, the voice is pretty much the same but maybe I'm seeing things this other daddy maybe an advisor? also, the fact the main protagonist found an artifact and gave them visions is very telling that the plot of this game is going to be finding sapien alien life (sentient wildlife exist so lets hope lol)

Alien husbands or I'm canceling my preorder. /old school threat But seriously the graphics do look nice, even though it'll not look anywhere near that good when I play it on series S, but I'm cool with that. I do hope it'll be a fun game, but the 1000 planet thing does make me worry that the story won't be very present. Hopefully, I'm just overthinking it.

I'm hoping that the game has a good chunk of meat to it and that the 1k planet is more a completion thing than anything as I doubt every single one of those would be a giant hub filled with life. I'm expecting some Mass Effect-esque planets where maybe you just scan them or something than be able to land on and visit all. Even if you can idk if they'd really put the effort into 1k having a ton of things to do. I'm excited for the rest and whilst Bethesda story lines can be hit or miss it's usually somewhat chunky content wise. I'm just excited for a new Fallout-esque game to play in Space with all the things I enjoy. I am expecting exploration and base building to be a big part of it.

I kinda expected that from what they showed. I liked the voiced protagonist in Fallout 4 but I know a lot of people didn't and I guess this will help for any quest mods people might be able to make if there's no voice to deal with. A shame though, dialogue felt more personal when voiced and not first person zoomed in but oh well.
One thing that the twitter replies made me lol are those saying that -you- are the protagonist and it will be more immersive because of it and blahblah and like... pretty sure I'm not a dude in real life, the immersion factor it already kinda null and void there. XD
Forced first person for dialogue would take me out of immersion whether there was a voice or not though so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: I'm just really confused by people who make the complaint that a voiced character means they're playing as the character and not as themselves. Like... isn't that the point of an rpg? When I play my Shepard I'm playing as Shepard (albeit with my decisions) I'm not trying to make a clone of me in the game. Maybe others play this way but idk that feels slightly weird and even less immersive to me.

Yeah, I've said this with regards to Outer Worlds and Cyberpunk, locked first person perspective does NOT immerse me, it actively ejects me. Y'know, it's really emphasizing the artifice of the world to me. I can work with it, but I'd sooner not - in Skyrim and what little I've played through of Fallout, I go to the third person over the shoulder camera as soon as I can, and feel much more immersed, like my PC is actually a part of the world.
I mean, for me this is all moot, considering that when I upgrade systems, I'm going to the PS5, so I won't be able to play this, but...

Sigh that's disappointing. I am not sure why I see people celebrating these news, but I am not a Bethesda player I guess. I don't mind first person that much but it does bother me when is a mix of both first person and no voicelines. I like to see my character I created in action and actually speak, I can't feel immersed if my character doesn't really feel like they are part of it. Like, do they expect me to just act out my lines? XD. It did bother me with Dragon Age origins too having no voice, but at least I can always see the character. But when is a situation of both things, I think it just ruins it for me. I guess for me what I like about RPGs like Biowares is that I feel somewhat like the director of the story/narrative, like basically I was given a script and then I have to decide how that script goes, choose my lead actor, choose his lines, what type of hero will be etc. Now the hero does tend to resemble a lot of me, and sometimes it can be a version of me in that universe but is not 100 percent like that, is more so is inspired by me. I get that people really want to feel they are that character, but that contradicts character creation in the first place, if your doing things fps.

The only plus is the modding as said by farferello . I don't like the idea of going back to silent protag or only having first person as I know it effects so many of you. I usually play in first person only, so it's fine for me-but I don't see why they'd abandon third person after all these years of including it. v.v

I guess they decided first person dialogue was either easier with no voiced protagonist so you're not just standing there in third person utterly mute, or they though it would be more immersive. I dunno. Not like Fallout 3/New Vegas was weird considering it had third person unvoiced dialogue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ First person is always going to un-immerse me no matter. I generally like to play third person in Skyrim/Fallout and only go into first person for certain combat elements/settlement building in the case of F4. It's not a deal breaker for me but it is a shame and I imagine any romance content might be shallow like F4's if our character can't say anything.
I'm just hoping whatever dialogue options we get will be worthwhile for lacking the voiced protagonist.
