Do we have any idea how many companions you can have with you at once? I've tried looking through a few of the vids but I'm still somewhat none the wiser unless nothing like that has been confirmed yet. As far I know it's not confirmed yet but in the last pre-alpha gameplay video there were four companions (Brigg, Berath, Amergin, unnamed male companion) along with the main character

That's cool we might have a handful with us at least, I should go hunt for more vids, see if I've missed anything else.

New character, prince Lugaid! edit. I fucking adore Emily seriously I'm so glad how open and communicative she is, like why all devs are not like her on twitter and stop queerbaiting people (Greedfall, MEA ... ¬¬) also, Emily just created the straight in the hold by making the only straight dude a quest-giver and not a companion XD ps. also how the hell I can show he's straight in the infographic? lol I dont want to use hypothetical straight pride flag LMAO

It's pretty neat that there are romanceable npcs/quest givers to go along with the companion romances. I wonder if the companion romances would have more depth to them however, but still pretty interesting, and it's so... refreshing how open Emily is about things, just outright stating romance options and no queerbaiting.

So things are like this PS. I refuse to use any symbol for heterosexuality even that ugly troll straight flag we queer people use to mock homophobes sometimes, call me straightphobic if you want I would however ask if anyone can educate me about polyamory/monogamy symbols, I have no idea about that, I can always write polyamorous/monogamous and that's it though. edit. also I was chatting with farferello about this right now, I hope there will be at least one lesbian and one gay character, maybe quest givers too since companions is a whole full experience (equality for all)

Lugaid. Rightful heir you say? bye Tiana.

Now I'm curious about Lugaid and the 'it’s... also functional stuff but spoilers' remark. I'm guessing it's mostly because he's rightful heir... and would need to make a heir of his own? idk. I do hope they'd be able to include a gay/lesbian option considering they are including straight options. I mean, their representation of many bi options so far is still very good... and I guess means the romance options we've learned of so far are all bi then.

This game both interests and confuses me lol. But, I also haven’t followed it super closely. It’s definitely something I’m interested in playing though.
There is a polyamory flag I think. Don’t think there is one for monogamy. Heterosexual is traditionally just the male female symbols looped together. Which was kind of ruined by the joke that is the “straight pride” flag, but I see it used to categorize fanfic still so idk

I'm guessing it's mostly because he's rightful heir... I thought about this too, not gonna lie, royalty characters are always straight because of this sigh but I hope his romance is small and less deep than companion's romances, companions should be more important than questgivers/advisors/etc but too soon to know I guess.

Whelp. Looks like the guys that were listed earlier are all bi since she's said that she can't confirm that there will be gay guys. While it's awesome that there are three m/m companions, I'm not going to lie. It will be annoying if none of them are gay. Seriously, will Dorian remain the only gay male companion in any game? And the "prince" is straight again because "story". <sigh>

Is there any news on romances potentially being race-gated? or nah?

So I mean I know we got 3 m/m companions already (though clearly bisexual after that tweet chain), but somehow there's also a straight guy. It really took no time at all for the sale about there being more than fair options to be exposed. I mean sure we got more than usual-still if there's exclusives and they are only on the straight side-we have less. That's not more than fair. That's LESS. I'm not that upset, but yeah-it's just irritating.

I'm not that upset, but yeah-it's just irritating. Yeah, I mean, I get it. They are being way more inclusive than other games (three m/m romances at least and possibly an ace romance). But......yeah. So we know that there is another guy because of that weird goggle wearing guy in the video. But, it sounds like, if he's romanceable, he'll be straight (since she said that there might be more straight characters) or bisexual as well since the devs don't know if the system can work with a gay guy (Is that what she was saying? I'm not sure I was following). So, once again, straight people will get more options, it seems. And there isn't a gay guy again. Unless I'm misunderstanding something. My prediction is that the last four unnamed companions are the goggles guy, the goblin, and the werewolf lady and one of the Mourian ladies from the original companion sketches. Do we know the breakdown of the female romances? We know that Delba, Khaldun, and Tiana are romances. Delba is possibly asexual. Do we know their sexualities? Also, with Lugaid being straight, the "quest giver" romances have to be unequal. If Tiana is straight, then they are both straight (boo). If she is a lesbian, then only women get to romance the major quest givers (boo). And if she's bisexual, then everyone but gay guys (again) get to romance the major quest givers (double boo). Also, I'm correct in understanding that Brigg is agendered or gender fluid?

My question is, since he's in opposition to Tiana, can I side with her PURELY on the basis of oppressing the straights? Honestly, while I'm disappointed about a straight option, especially since I really really REALLY want a noble ruler character who says "fuck your heterosexual agendas" and such for freaking ONCE EVER... Considering the circumstances surrounding the other characters, that there ARE more same-sex options is enough to make that less of a concern for me. And I believe that Brigg is non-binary - so far, the pronouns used have been they/them for this character.

I totally get the frustration but I think it's too soon to go ahead of ourselves yet, at least it's what I'm trying to do, it seems that Emily is not allowed yet to speak about future announcements, more so because the game is in development at least that's what I get from her saying is more an UX and narrative design reasons. But it's totally true that if there is an exclusive straight romance (according to her tweet Lugaid is the only hetero male one) the balance is going to be uneven again so I hope in the incoming months? we'll know news about at least one gay male or lesbian character. She wasnt lying about the game being very queer if all the companions are bi, but the "more than equal" with a straight inclusive romance and without confirming if it is going to be gay/lesbian characters is concerning. Although her saying that the team is aware of that and they will keep us posted is reassuring but I do totally understand getting anxious. I don't like to see another royalty character being straight though, that's SUPER irritating but at least he's not a companion so I couldn't care less about him since I don't like advisor/non-companion romances, I still think those romances are a waste of resources which should go to actual companions but hey, there are plenty of characters this time and I'm pretty happy with Berath already and the fact there are three m/m companions. Is there any news on romances potentially being race-gated? or nah? No news about that, I hope is not the case, race-gated romances are bs Do we know the breakdown of the female romances? We know nothing about them because nobody asked!! Make a twitter account!!! We know Amergin is a m/m option thanks to @liarashepard , Heraklios thanks to VFerreira93 and Berath because I have been an annoying bitch every time I could on twitter because selfish reasons lol Brigg is confirmed as non-binary character.

I want Herk to just take me already-cause he's so far ahead of the rest atm. Though the fact that the other 2 exist in both time periods makes them look like excellent options as well.

Though the fact that the other 2 exist in both time periods makes them look like excellent options as well. lol same but with Berath, I think I'm going to buy this at release even if the romance distribution is not equal, there are a lot of variables like: Unequal romance distribution (even if it is 5 m/f, 5 f/m, 4 f/f, 4 m/m = 1 less option): -40 points (if this were Greedfall with its two bi two hetero it would be like -80 points I hate that distribution sooo much) Indie spaniard game (want to support my people's content -it's not something patriotic I swear I hate spain sometimes lol-): 10 points Three confirmed m/m companions: 30 points RPG with gay romance: 20 points Soft angsty ginger daddy gardener: 50 points Ginder daddy's puppy companion: 5 points (it's important m'okay? ) Cool-looking story: 10 points it's a solid 85 out of 100. also I just tweeted Emily about our concerns, I hope she responds soon and she's not tired of me edit. I dont quite understand what she means by being equal gender-wise I guess she's referring to the companion roster?

I dont quite understand what she means by being equal gender-wise I guess she's referring to the companion roster? It's a little unclear what she's saying, but I think it sounds like she's saying that she's prioritizing a trans character (or characters) and that might mean that there won't be any gay or lesbian characters. Interesting that she included f/f in that. It sounds like Tiana, Khaldun, and Delba are straight or bisexual as well. If I'm reading her statements, it sounds like she's been thoughtful of including a variety of sexualities and intersectionalities of identity. She's got straight men (at least one, maybe more), bisexual men, bisexual women, agendered or genderfluid companions, possibly an asexual woman, and possibly a trans character (assuming that's not Brigg). I mean, that's pretty good considering. But it's definitely frustrating that the demographics that are missing again are a gay and lesbian character. And her excuses as to why are starting to sound a little thin. First it was because the system might not work with a gay/lesbian character. Now it's because she also needs to include a trans character. I'm not sure why either of those should mean that there can't be a gay guy or a lesbian. And, of course, the royal guy is straight. Because of reasons. So that didn't break their system or mean that there couldn't be a trans character. But the gay guy or lesbian would. I'm not saying the game isn't going to be good. It looks good. But I also don't think it's going to be the paragon of inclusion that it appeared at first. I'm hearing some of the same old shit here. It won't stop me from buying it if it comes out for consoles, like it didn't with Greedfall. But the shine is starting to wear off the more we learn here. But, to keep it somewhat positive, bearded ginger daddy Berath and his faithful pup are a major positive. Even if I have to "share him". LOL.

So it just feels like she's saying we can't give trans people anything if we don't shit on the gays? I mean...really? Sigh...again I'm super happy we have more than the usual bare-minimum option(s), but damn. That one hurt worse than her just sticking with her bullshit answer about trouble programming.

Her response is very confusing and first I thought I was having language barrier problems but I see I'm not the only one xD trans characters are the most forgotten demographic and I would personally be happy to get one less option if that means we get at least one trans character, I'm ok with that. Not ok with straights getting more options again BUT what if the prince is a trans character? Maybe that what is the spoilers is about??? That would be pretty damn cool Even if I have to "share him". LOL.
