I've been reading through the BSN thread on the trailer, someone said there's a mention of ark six being on the way which they said is a reference to the quarian ark but the quarian ark was the fifth ark not the sixth, the Nexus was never referred to as an ark so my theory is that's what ties the milky way and andromeda There's also some weirdo in the thread who wants Liara to become pregnant with Shepard's kid even if Shepard didn't romance herI hope Liara is like Morrigan in DAI, was prominent in the trailer but didn't play a big part in the game Guh...
Anyone questions why I get so aggressively anti-Liara at times, it's things like that. The fact that, honestly, it really DOES seem like that meld at the end (which, thank GOD it's optional...) is opening the door for just this kind of thing, which... As questionable as I find the way that BioWare presents Liara, I HAVE to believe that they'd understand the violation that would be. Even when I wrote a fic that used it as a springboard to examine the fallout, I acknowledged in the author's note that I didn't actually see her doing it, the plot bunny just wouldn't go away. But that it's a possible takeaway... Like, you should NOT be able to walk away wondering if a character just casually impregnated themselves without the knowledge or consent of the PC OR the player.
Yeah, if we HAVE to have Liara in the next Mass Effect game (and, rest assured, we DON'T need her, or any of the Normandy crew, they've had their time, we NEED to move on), I'd prefer her to only be like a brief cameo, like she's sending off this "sixth ark" or something, or maybe sent them with one of those time capsules or something, like they'd set out mid-invasion and one of her Shadow Broker agents went with them and had a capsule message included in their personal effects or something. Even that's more than I'd like, but... At least it limits her role.
And again, as much as my attitude is turned towards Liara at the moment, because she's the character who appeared in the trailer, I feel like this for the whole trilogy companions. I love them all, I honestly wouldn't be against revisiting them in theory, but I'm also fully aware that the instant any of them become a major player in a subsequent Mass Effect game, that character is going to be unfairly elevated by not just the fans, but even the writing itself, because this is an old friend and companion to us the players, but a total stranger to the player character, and overshadow the new characters who deserve a chance.

I hope the replacement will be more progressive especially when it comes to gay male content. I'm pretty tired of having the same stick in every game. Agreed. I will never forget just how much we had to turn up the heat to get them to make Jaal bi and equal things out for gay men. To their credit they did a good job with it, and among other things they gave us the most explicit gay male sex scene in a mainstream game -- but we shouldn't have had to fight for it in the first place.

Of course, I'm not exactly going to offer credit on that explicit scene, considering that it's due to not redoing the staging for the male Ryder figure that comes from the original female Ryder version... You'll note that they never changed the differences of the Reyes dance scene where Reyes will hold Sis!Ryder closer, having Bro!Ryder and Reyes leave plenty of room for Jesus...

I still haven’t seen that Reyes scene since the original version where your head tweaked out on Scott and you looked cross eyed the whole time. Good times.

Must be nice to be able to look forward to it, and not be dreading being shit on yet again by BioWare.

Yeah, I'm pretty set on not getting this at this point, because nothing has ever come along to make me feel like BioWare is going to make even that little bit for trying to make this franchise that little bit kinder to gay people in general and gay men in particular.
Like, the biggest thing for me really was that announcement day - I say "Not interested in this if I can't romance Kaidan across the trilogy," and the assholes crawled out of the woodwork to say I'm "whining" over "nothing." So in seeing that this does not happen... It says to me that BioWare agrees with them. That, despite the YEARS of calling out their failures on representation, to the point that they had to actively patch in a same-sex relationship to their most recent RPG BECAUSE they sold it unbalanced... BioWare won't try to make amends. And that BioWare would sooner have the money of those people, the people who dismissed my concerns, than mine.
I love these games, love the BioWare franchises. And probably I will still be buying new games. For all my complaints, I do fixate on these games and these universes. But I'm not about to shell out sixty bucks to replay bad representation in shinier graphics.

Must be nice to be able to look forward to it, and not be dreading being shit on yet again by BioWare. Being a huge Liara fan I guess I'm the winner no matter what, huh? Can't help myself. Waifu is waifu I also just want to completely switch to consoles when it comes to games. Mass Effect Trilogy are the only games I play on PC. I'm so tired of it. I've been a PC gamer for over 20 years before I switched to console and now I have a huge difficulty switching back to K&M so... yeah, I just want all of it on my dear playstation, please. Add Dragon Age Origin and 2 too the club, please.

I’d consider getting it just to experience the trilogy. Only played ME3/MEA (no dlc) cause I was too young and dumb to play the other two. And I feel like I should probably experience the trilogy.
If I get it on PC it seems like it could be modded like Kaidan was in ME1 classic maybe?
But it does kinda blow chunks. But also I know everyone likes ME trilogy and I liked ME3 when I played it right before MEA.

The depth of the story Bioware was able to tell are something no other studio was ever able to repeat IMO. there are amazing games and there's Mass Effect Trilogy - a whole different level.

I am pretty excited about it. And maybe I’ll just play a female Shepard who romances Liara cause I liked her character in ME3 but I had no idea her backstory really lol

I wonder if the same datamined files from the original games will still be there, considering this Edition is being made in UnrealEngine4 and such.

Yeah, I watched the trailer, and... What a surprise, not a single frame of M!Shepard/Kaidan or M!Shepard/Cortez romance content made it in! Why, what a shock!
So that's sixty bucks I'm saving.
