I agree! I love Arcade and Old World Blues was also my favorite. I wish your PC could romance Arcade, but I guess you can't have everything. lol While I really love FO4 as a game, I thought where it fell down in comparison to past games was the DLC. Some of my favorite parts of past games were the DLC stories, like Old World Blues. The Far Harbor DLC was alright, but nothing else lived up to past DLC campaigns from FO3/New Vegas, for me. They relied too heavily on adding mainly to crafting and new platforms for settlements. In the past I thought they did a really good job with fleshing out new places, stories and characters for their DLC additions, but this time they fell mostly flat, for me. Yep. Fallout 4's dlc wasn't worth the price of admission. I did like Far Harbor and I like parts of Nuka world too (damn sexy tarzan looking bastard). However, everything else was just a waste of money (thankfully I didn't pay but 30 bucks for the season pass though). My boyfriend bought the season pass. lol I thought Nuka World was cool in concept and I liked parts of it, too, but it annoyed me that you couldn't get Gage to turn on the gangs even though he didn't even care about them much and it annoyed me that there wasn't a more developed plot for helping the slaves even more. I wish the "good" path would have been on equal narrative footing, because I'm never siding with the gangs and fucking up my own settlements. It causes too much trouble with the rest of the game, for me, and I also just don't really like playing that much of an asshole.

I still appreciate what's there, but it definitely has a lot of flaws. I think there's a big part of me that wants to love Nuka world for sure though, but it's just okay sadly. What I wish more then anything is that the good version wasn't so chaotic. As soon as you open fire on one of the bosses everyone tries to kill you, and unless you have an overpowered god (late game) you will die horribly trying to take them all out. Messy!

I didn't play it yet, myself, because I was annoyed. I watched my boyfriend play it with a level 80+ stealth god PC with crazy AP and the Deliverer, though. Watching him methodically assassinate almost every person in Nuka World without being detected was interesting. lol

It won't happen though. Too many perks are needed even for the start since there's so many floor traps and mines. (sneak perks are so useful)

It does annoy me that they stick you in a hetero marriage to start. I almost didn't buy the game because of that. I only decided to play when it was revealed they were doing the all bi LIs and we'd get a big variety for m/m. Their choice to do the hetero marriage thing sucks, but it still ends up more enjoyable for me than Andromeda where you don't have to either be bi or headcanon it as a sham marriage, because we actually get decent options and Andromeda fumbled that hard. Being gay in games always ends up being a compromise, it seems. It's never been done very well, tbh. So, Fallout 4 has flaws with it, but I think it does as well as anything else when you weigh out the flaws. Of course, YMMV. I do really recommend NV then.. but i love arcade gannon very much :3

I know the thread doesn't ask about gameplay mechanics, but I was just thinking that I wish Fallout's levelling/perks system worked more like Skyrim's. I feel like it would make things easier for me, lol.
In Fallout, especially early on, it's hard for me to know what perks to get and if I picked the wrong ones, oh well, fuck me I guess. I would MUCH prefer it if my pistol/sneaking/speech skills improved BECAUSE I was using those abilities.
I also really hate how your SPECIAL stats are fixed and never see significant growth, except in very rare circumstances.

Yeah my SPECIAL stats would really grow over the course of New Vegas, it felt like my character was truly getting more powerful. He was a god by the end, convincing multiple armies to stand down and walk away with just words.

The same as Fallout 3 and 4, you get twenty something points and you spread them out across SPECIAL, but when you level up you can choose a perk that lets you have one SPECIAL point, and you can do that quite a few times but not forever.

You know what else would be cool? If you could be a Psyker.
I was hoping that since Fallout 4 is set in Boston, there might be a Salem-based DLC where you could find a bunch of weird future-Amish who persecute individuals who have developed psychic powers. And then maybe you could decide to either help the townsfolk or stop the persecution. It'd be like The Chrysalids, lol.
The few individuals with telekinetic/telepathic powers are a really interesting part of the lore, to me, and it would be awesome to play a character who has those abilities. Maybe they came from a vault that was trying to develop those avilities through gene manipulation.

I know you discussed this with me before the game came out even, but I'm glad you brought it up here again. It was a very cool idea and I'm disappointed they didn't do this, even if it is kind of a specific thing to expect. lol Psykers are kind of an obscure lore point, so I'll drop the wiki there for people that want to check it. Basically, it's the smattering of people in the wasteland we've seen that developed strange powers. I would definitely love to see this expanded on more and maybe even see a part of the world where having developed these abilities is way more common. Having a skill set for it in the game mechanics would also be very cool.

Having a skill set for it in the game mechanics would also be very cool. It was just so thematically PERFECT, man. Boston. Massachusetts. Salem. Witch Hunts, psychic powers, mass hysteria. They really dropped the ball. If you could BE a Psyker, it would be kind of like being the Dragonborn in Skyrim, lol. Mechanically it might be difficult because the power wouldn't necessarily tie into the core stats/perks system. Maybe it could level up independently, through use. Or maybe it could be like a Bioshock/Prey thing, where you expand your abilities by shooting up on mutant juice.

I mean with all the odd perks the Main characters can acquire through level up-he/she's almost that already, but yeah-I would like some super powers for sure. Since I played Saint's Row 4, I'm pretty much ready for another game with broken ass powers.

Some of my favourite games of all time are X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, because they let you mix and match your favourite well-known Marvel comic characters. But I would love a BioWare or Bethesda style game where you make your own superhero. Decide your appearance (and costume, lol), and how your powers grow. Find other super-powered characters and make a team. Maybe have a secret base you can upgrade, even.

That's one of the reasons I enjoyed the inFamous games so much. Playing as a super hero or villan is quite fun.

I just bought Fallout 4 cuz I was able to get it at 15 bucks, will report my thoughts on it. So far this intro videos while game installs is quite something lol. It reminds me when you have to see a video before getting on a ride in a theme park.

I have heard the alt start mods are good.
