This thread is for general discussion about the Fallout series and speculation about future games. While Fallout is likely several years out for the next installment, we can still speculate and share some of our hopes and dreams for the next game! Here are some discussion points to get us started: - Where in the world would you like to see the next Fallout game based?
- What sort of companions and romances would you like to see in the future?
- What are your favorite factions in the Fallout games and which do you hope will be returning?
- What are some factions and themes you would like to see in parts of the world that haven't been covered yet?
- What sort of environments would you like to see in future Fallout games?

I'd love to see a Fallout in the New Orleans area.
Gimme gay dudes to romance basically.
I love the Brotherhood, when they're good and when they're bad. I really like the Railroad too.
I don't know, swampy environments i guess?

I don't know, swampy environments i guess? I want Fallout in New Orleans as well! I liked the Railroad in FO4 and the Brotherhood in FO3. I hope Bethesda expands on what they did with romances in FO4.

I don't know, swampy environments i guess? I agree with swampy areas! Miami or New Orleans have been my picks for a while. Seeing some places outside the US would also be cool, but not sure if they'll do that. A swampy, overgrown area with huge, mutant plants would be awesome and really different than what we've seen for a while. Giant alligator monsters and maybe something like the night stalkers with a panther type enemy would be cool for that environment.

What I really hope to see is gay npcs. Like hot guy sees you runs to you and tells you "help! my husband was kidnapped!"... Of course I doubt we will get that anytime soon, when even "the most inclusive" gaming company is going back to good old Jade Empire days. But one can dream! Basically I want to see "teh gay" being a bit more than just an "invisible" option. And I prefer the "all bi" approach to LIs. Other npcs in the game universe, various sexualities. LIs? All bi please haha! Well, unless all the guys talk only about women... And they better not do a Jill. If they have a gay npc, he better not spend 90% of his time talking about women too. A swampy/jungle type of environment would be indeed cool. I think it was Metro which did something like that (not exactly jungle, but a swampy area sort of thing) and it was really cool.

I definitely agree it would be nice to see more LGBT people and gay couples among the NPCs. I like the "all bi" LIs a lot in Fallout. It's amazing how much variety we got. My favorite is MacCready, but it's nice a game finally had a gay KISA type (Danse) after it's been so requested from Bioware.

Agreed with more LGBT+ NPC.
I also would love to see more green environment. Realistically nature can take over very easily. If some animals survive the nuclear apocalypse, plants can easily do so.

I really liked both Curie and Piper. Hamilton also in FO 4.
I didn't like the synth storyline overall but I love a good AI romance so it was interesting. Nick Valentine was my favorite character. I mean a noir AI detective who is physically falling apart? That is really neat. My relationship with the brotherhood is complicated and I try to take it from the perspective of the character and not my own from knowing them over the span of the series. Each chapter is pretty different from what I have seen.

I never played any Fallout games. I bought Fallout 4 and the guide, but I found it such an overwhelming game that I gave it to my straight friend that abuses Adderall and can finish games better than I can. I wanted to romance Paladin Danse and have Codsworth be my best pal, but it just didn't work out for me.

I should go back and finish Fallout 4 sometime lol.
New Orleans and Miami would be awesome settings, but I would love to see what New York looks like. I want to see an overgrown Central Park with giant mutant squirrels, and massive, crumbling skyscrapers controlled by different warring factions.
I imagine a smaller open world, with lots of verticality and internal areas to explore. Maybe ziplines at the tops of buildings to help you get around faster, lol.

I think they're probably shy to tackle NYC because it's like, THE American city, you know? lol It would definitely be cool. They better not New Vegas us on it and have like no actual recognizable city, though. I love New Vegas, but that's my one major complaint about it. My only complaint about doing NYC next is that they did D.C. and Boston (plus Pittsburgh, Maryland and Maine thrown in), so it's like.. we've seen so much Northeastern US now.

I really like your vision of an overgrown jungle/swamp.

I think New Orleans would probably fit Fallout better. Most of the aesthetic people associate with Miami is.. too late? I don't know if it would work in the future-50s. So, I think I'm with Sir Drell on this one. New Orleans would be perfect.

Personally I'd like to see either Seattle and the greater Northwest Commonwealth or Honolulu and parts of the Hawaii archipelago.
Seattle They already attempted to make Seattle a location in Fallout for their failed MMO. One of the ideas was to make it a partly frozen with the ruins of the city dotted across the landscape. Also, depending on when the story takes place, they could show some flora returning if it takes places around the same time as Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4. F:NV already established that the forests high up in the mountains survived to some extent so I think it wouldn't be a stretch to finally show some (mutated) nature returning.
Honolulu For the same reason as Seattle, the archipelago and the city could pose a slightly brighter setting in the Fallout Universe while still remain firmly apocalyptic. Honolulu could be the crossroads for any travel still taking place across the Pacific or a primary element of the story could focus on re-establishing contact with any kind of civilization on mainland America (New California Republic). Regardless, it would make exploring islands and a little bit of ocean travel part of the Fallout series.

Honolulu would be more jungle compared to swampy with New Orleans/Miami, so that could be interesting. It would have the same feel a lot of people have been saying the wanted, with more giant mutant plants instead of just vast desert wastes. Seattle is also interesting, though, because an icy environment would also be new. A mutated tundra would be cool to see. Polar yao guai and packs of giant mutated wolves would make good enemies for that.

I do love the idea of a jungle/forest/anything green setting. I think one of the problems is that without long sight lines you (I) are (am) more likely to get lost. Hell even in FO4 i get lost going from Bunker Hill to Goodneighbor, and it's like 100 goddamn feet.
Still greenery would be amazing and much appreciated. Also, less settlements. I didn't dislike the settlement system in of itself, but with the DLC's there's like 30 of the damn things. 2 or 3 at the most please.

It really just was the repetitiveness of it that made it annoying. If it is a mechanism that will return in a future Fallout game, I hope they will make it slightly less 'free' and let you build several villages that are partly planned as to include quest(givers) popping up and have some more dynamics woven into the settlement itself that makes each place feel more unique and integrated into the story.

Where in the world would you like to see the next Fallout game based?I wouldn't mind seeing the game take place in Europe for a nice change of pace. London perhaps? What sort of companions and romances would you like to see in the future?Someone as hot as Danse, with the personality as awesome as MacCready. Make me die of happy Bethesda! What are your favorite factions in the Fallout games?the institute, Mr. House (I guess he counts sort of), and the Legion (what can I say I found them interesting even if they are terrible people....) What sort of environments would you like to see in future Fallout games?
I want to see them stay about where they are with the damaged buildings and city like landscapes, but I would like them to have more greenery though. Nothing wrong with the grass finally growing back.
