What are your favourite books and authors? What are you currently reading?
My favourite authors are Garth Nix and Jasper Fforde. I am currently reading Borne, by Jeff Van Der Meer. It is crazy as fuck and I love it.

Ursula Le Guin! I'm in the process of buying some books I don't have yet, but one of my favorites is The Word for World is Forest. I'm an idiot and just found out it is part of a series, but they relatively not connected just in the same universe. I'mma devour them.

I totally thought this might be a normal poll based on the first 500 options, then I got to the end. I don't know what I was expecting. lol

I'm currently reading Green Rider by Kristen Britain. It's really good so far!
My most recent favorite fantasy series is the Graceling trilogy by Kristin Cashore. The heroine of the second book is a black bisexual woman, and there's a side gay couple that's really sweet.

My favourite author is Terry Pratchett.
I'm currently reading The Steel Remains. I'll finish it but I can't say I'm enjoying it.
So I'm going to also lurk here for recommendations.

I only read fan fiction, gay erotica and Dan Brown novels LOL.
EDIT: Ah, I did read Frank Schätzing's The Swarm ages ago and quite liked it. I guess that counts as sci-fi.

Ok, so I'm looking for a book with relatively easy english. Something that won't force me to check dictionary every few seconds. @artemis any suggestions? I can read anything from any genre.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney They are middle-grade books, so the characters are young and the last one is in almost comic book style, but I scanned the language level and it seems to be not too difficult. No LGBT characters (at least not main ones) because all my recs for those are higher level reading But if you want to give one a try, consider The Last Herald Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. She's excessively fond of adverbs though.

Joey I'll add The Giver by Lois Lowry to that list; a quick scan shows it to also not be too difficult. A good read if you like dystopias (it's sort of the original, at least in modern times).

I really want to reread 1984. That is one of my favorite books, along with To Kill a Mockingbird. I keep toying with the idea of doing a book club on here, but I don't know if I want to lead it or not.

I think Americans usually read those in school and I always felt bad for not having read them. They were amazing. I have a crush on Holden. Yes, I read those in high school. I also want to read the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

We didn't cover Catcher in the Rye in school, but I did read it on my own during high school. And I've never actually read Mockingbird. It is an American education staple, but I got stuck with the only freshman English teacher who didn't use it. We had to read Hiroshima by John Hersey instead for some reason.

How did you like the Song of Achilles? You should read Lord Mouse immediately. Surpassed my expectations by a long shot and I can't wait for a third book in that setting. SoA was really great too. It was an interesting take on The Iliad.

I'll make sure to start Lord Mouse. BTW have you read the Captive Prince trilogy? I haven't. Are they any good? I'm always a little dubious about gay romance novels by female authors because it feels like a lot of them are glorified porn rather than a fully formed novel that happens to have a gay romance in it (which is why I liked Lord Mouse so much).

This one is sorta slow burn and highly recommended. Check the warnings. Awesome! I'm definitely going to pick them up then.

I've been reading the Culture series of the late Scottish writer Iain M. Banks. I've read Consider Phlebas and The Player of Games and hope to start with Use of Weapons as soon as real life let's me.
