I haven't. Are they any good? I'm always a little dubious about gay romance novels by female authors because it feels like a lot of them are glorified porn rather than a fully formed novel that happens to have a gay romance in it (which is why I liked Lord Mouse so much). This one is sorta slow burn and highly recommended. Check the warnings. Lol, I didn't pick them up because I was told they romanticise slavery and abuse. Even the people I know who liked it describe it as "problematic but sexy", and they were all girls anyway.

Well I liked it, but obviously you should read the samples and check the warnings. I'm also just not that into stories that focus on romance so much. Like, I wanna see guys kissing, but the plot should be about something else. And no angst about "who do I pick to be my boyfrando", plz.

I prefer action/fantasy/adventure, with a little romance on the side. And I am super triggered by slavery crap. I am so not into the master/slave "sexy dynamic," ew, GROSS. Reminds me of yaoi fangirl type stuff. Blech. Not commenting on Captive Prince, which I haven't read, just on the trope in general

A fantasy adventure series that actually does have a lovely m/m romance is the Nightrunner series. I've only read the first three books because for most of my life that's all there were. I wish she would have stopped there, but she returned to them, i guess by popular demand. But I can vouch for the first three books. No cliches, awesome fantasy world and a thrilling adventure, and the way the two guys fall in love is very sweet.

Okay, well just tell me, are there dragons in it?

Boo. I like dragons. What are the actual fantasy elements? It's just a medieval setting in a fictional universe. There's no magic or anything iirc. OH SHIT I'M A GRIZZLED WARRIOR NOW. COME TO DADDY, RADIUM. Lol. I'm about to fall asleep though. Ugh, I hate those kinds of "fantasy". ): < Night night!

I am the current lone Frank Herbert vote! I am currently reading a tech thriller, Change Agent, by a recent fave, Daniel Suarez. Great stuff; I highly recommend his books if you're into that kind of thing. My favorite novel of his is the third, Kill Decision about autonomous drones that will kill us all. His novels, though fiction, are all highly researched and based on real concepts (and very exciting!) Also, if you don't mind reading young adult (as an adult), I also recommend The Finisher (and sequels) by David Baldacci, which is fantasy. The main character is a 14-year-old girl, BUT I will add as a person not crazy about teen fiction (I aged out of that long ago), she doesn't act in that annoying teenager way. [edit] I suppose I should add that all of the above have minor side het romances, but they're hardly the main feature of these works.

You can also find more explicit versions of some of the show's songs.

Lynn Flewelling... C.S. Pacat...
I'm still looking for a gay male fantasy author who hits all the right buttons for me.

How the hell is Ray Bradbury not on this list? He writes beautifully. It's really hard to pick just one. The most recent books I read were the 2 Kingkiller Chronicles. There are scenes where the writing is so fucking good it's unbelievable. {Spoiler}Like the scene where he plays at the inn for his silver pipes. Le Guin is amazing. I read the Left Hand of Darkness and the Dispossessed. I'm going to start the Wizard of Earthsea soon. And Tolkien knows how to craft a sentence or two. I've never read the Silmarillion and am reading it now. I love how it's pure mythos. Fucking gorgeous. Recently I also read Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Amazing. And Olaf Stapledon (Star Maker, Last and First Men) may not be for everybody but I love him. The books currently on my reading list are: The Lions of Al-Rassan - Guy Gavriel Kay Wild Seed - Octavia Butler Dhalgren - Samuel R. Delany Dying of the Light - GRRM Anything by Le Guin but the Wizard of Earthsea is next Also other stuff like The Alexandria Quartet and Desert by Le Clézio but those aren't Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Ray Bradbury writes some amazing stuff. One of his shorts that I read in a vampire anthology was one of my favourites. I know everyone goes on about The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit - I love them both, first read the Hobbit when I was 8 and read LotR when I was 9 and loved and read them repeatedly ever since - but the Silmarillion is so much better imo. Though I do love mythology stories written in that style.
