tbh you can see this with real life women that suffered abuse, where a lot of scum always blame the victim not the guilty, and I'm so fucking mad how this show pretty much killed all the woman empowerment message to do what they have done. I feel like I need to rewatch Buffy to feel less dirty or something

Kinda thought those ballistas would've been more of a problem for Daenerys, kinda makes her other dragon dying pretty pointless in the last episode. Cleganebowl was alright. Glad the horse survived. |

Dany went way easier on them than she should have. She let some of them live and keep their ill-gotten riches and fancy shit. I would have stripped them of everything they owned and redistributed it all to the slaves and then have all the slavers executed. |

It's not so much Dany losing it that I have a problem with, but the speed at which they attempted to buzz through her character shift. I can see what they were going for, and it could've been a truly heartbreaking tale of her losing faith in her advisers, her lover and the people of Westeros that she was promised would embrace her, but they had to fit so much character development into six episodes that it comes across as really abrupt and nonsensical. This is not helped by the way that the Iron Fleet could take down one dragon with ease, but were then powerless against the other, or the way they barely showed a close-up of Dany for the whole time that she was wreaking death and destruction. It's such a shame.

My goodness I've watched some trashy things before but this took it to a whole new level. Watching Daenerys transition from crying over the corpse of Jorah in a tragic, pensive and heroic manner to a character who is presented with Nazi imagery in the space of two episodes is jarring and outright tasteless imo. Also a lot of the dialogue was straight up difficult to listen to. Arya's condemnatory "I know a killer when I see one".... like are you looking in a mirror? One braincell please you fed a man his own children. I felt physically grossed out watching the episode when Tyrion began to explain Daenerys' 'madness' through a "first they came for" parallel when referring to literal SLAVE MASTERS? As if I'm supposed to feel sympathy for men who owned other people as property... Thats straight up vile writing.
D&D shouldn't be allowed to write anything, and most certainly not Confederate. |

I havent watched the episode as I said last week, but yeah I'm worried about the future of Star Wars, I really really hope Disney ditch these fuckers, I spoiled myself the whole thing through twitter. With another MAN in the throne, and with another MAN killing the most powerful female character who goes from liberator and revolutionary figure to fucking Hitler in just two episodes lol what a feminist show eh? I'm shook.
I guess the only positive thing is Sansa being queen in the north.

Y'know, if the publishing date for the last two books were released today, I'd immediately go out and start reading the series, because this is ridiculous. I'm still kinda stunned at how much buildup led to so little. I guess I'm just glad that I'm not as emotionally invested in the show as some fans are, because I imagine I'd be a lot more bummed out about this ending if I was.
Not to get too off-topic, but what would the rest of you say are some heavily-serialized TV shows that actually managed to have really strong endings? The main ones that come to mind for me are Babylon 5 and Breaking Bad.

not to be a fanboy but Buffy has the best ending ever and it is the best show ever. If you want something akin to GoT, Spartacus has a good ending with cool gay rep unlike GoT, then again it's heavy based on real life Spartacus so, you have been warned lol the last show I have seen with a cool ending was Black Sails, a show with pirates and cool lgbtq rep too and with great female characters. Both are lgbtq friendly. I dont know if I'm gonna buy the books if this is the ending GRRM has in mind though, I cant buy Dany being the mad queen, genetics as narrative force is one of the most LAMEST use of writing ... |
