I understood completely.
Yeah, at this point, Dorian/Lavellan is COMPLETELY unreadable/unwatchable for me. I can not under any circumstances look at this pairing and view it as healthy, purely based on Dorian's attitudes regarding slavery. Because if Dorian and Lavellan had met in Tevinter, Lavellan wouldn't have a choice about being with him. If Dorian was interested in him, Lavellan would have to submit or he'd be punished. Elves in Tevinter are servants and slaves. Their continued ability to breathe is dependent entirely on the whims of the magisters around them.
And honestly, I'm at a point where I fear the worst with Dorian - that his appearance in DA4 will have him still focused on blood magic to the exclusion of all of Tevinter's other ills. And that he'll have a crisis point of some kind where his fate rests in our hands... And honestly? At this point? I don't care enough about Dorian to go to great lengths to help or save him.
The deadliest words for a writer are 'I don't care what happens to this character.' And that's how I feel about Dorian.

Sloane can raw me. Maybe if I read Uprising, I would like Sloane more, but I heard they Bury Your Gays in it. Yeah, they do, one half of a couple joins the uprising and gets killed. Maybe if I read Uprising, I would like Sloane more, but I heard they Bury Your Gays in it. I wouldn't know. There's never been a single Bioware tie-in novel that I've really wanted to read. Not yet, anyways. Nexus Uprising is pretty good IMO [...] fenris (quit whining already!) [...] What's up with Elven necks in DA2 Abelas. I just don't get it, other than he's a really really old elf. His thighs are alarmingly bendy looking, too. Gaspard. He's a whiny old warmonger with disturbingly large ears. Solas, to a degree. He's definitely interesting but the way he's become the defining character in fandom and the love for his romance isn't exactly something I can relate to, lol. But different strokes for different folks and I do get the appeal of a broody demi-god, no matter how strangely shaped his head is. I think it's probably because Abelas is relatively pretty Not gonna lie, I'd probably read Uprising if Kandros was awake because I like him, but I don't think he is and I don't really care about anyone in the Nexus leadership that much. Also, I haven't the best experience with video game tie-in novels. I mean, to be fair, the ME writers are not responsible for Karin Traviss' amazingly terrible Gears of War tie-in stuff, but once bitten, twice shy. I can't recall Kandros being in the novel, whats unforgivable IMO is that Vetra was awake for the Uprising, but didn't feature in the book at all, but the Weeablue gets her own novel I gotta gripe about Loghain's fanbase here. Not so much the people who think he's flawed but interesting, but I've seen more than one fan gushing over how honorable he is and how sad they are you don't get to work with him more. Admittedly, I'm from the South, so slavery is a bit of a hot-button issue for me, but, uh, seriously? The Alienage is the last level right before the Landsmeet, how do you forget the crap he pulled that fast? Again, I think it might be because of how his looks improved in Inquisition To answer the question, I wouldn't say that there's a specific character whose fans I don't get. What I don't get is when people are such fans of characters/factions/races that they seem unable to admit their flaws. One of the main thrusts of the DA universe is that there are no 100% right answers or good characters. You just have to choose the shade of grey that you can live with most easily... DOG WAS PERFECT! His constant barking in camp was so bad that someone made a mod for it Oh, is he? I hadn't seen him in any of the plot synopsis(es?) of the book, but it's pretty cheap, so I might just get it, then. He's the only Nexus politician character (aside maybe from Kesh) who I got attached to. He's not a main "POV" character as he's Sloane's second-in-command, so he doesn't feature as heavily as the others, but he's important to Sloane and his absence is a fairly major plot-point. I think Sloane's second in command was Kaetus, her boyfriend on Kadare, he was away from the Nexus (iirc his team was the one who made first contact with the Kett) at the time of the Uprising and only found out about her exile when he arrived back Frickin' Cullen "Mage Killer" Rutherford. What's so great about him? How is he qualified to broker peace between the mages and the templars? Why would a mage ever romance the guy? Why, after his appearances in previous games is he suddenly supposed to be this lovable guy worthy of a redemption story? He's not even the most interesting choice story-wise, in my opinion. He's feckin' sexy. He had noodle hair before DAI and only became attractive in DAI Another character I don't get the love for is.... Bann Teagan. People were crying that they made him ugly in Trespasser. Where were these fans? He was visually unappealing since Origins. (OK, OK, I know, doesn't mean much considering I'm not into men but....) He was OK in Origins, but he did get uglier in DAI, he aged pretty badly I don't understand the love for... 1. Lace Harding. She's boring and has like five lines in the whole game.
2. Dagna. Also boring and her personality is annoying. 3. The Chargers. Aside from Krem they each have about one line a piece and look weird to boot. 4. Carver. He's a little shithead who sells out his brother. 5. Shale. Her lines aren't funny. BOOM I said it Add me to the, I don't get people wetting themselves over her group. I think it's because she was voiced by Liara

The key plot point is that he's away when the Uprising takes place and isn't there to help Sloane, which is part of the reason why it all goes to shit. Kaetus is said in Uprising to have had a close connection to her in the Milky Way , and to have been on the Turian Ark. I guess at some stage he finds his way to her, but he was never on the Nexus.

Id rather have a f/f qunari love interest and any potential dwarven romance be m/m Maybe the appeal is also a LI who's strong enough to carry you over their shoulder (despite their height, Im pretty sute I heard dwarves were physically stronger than humans and elves)

Also, I'd be cool with a buff fem qunari companion, very cool.

I don't know what people see in Nakmor Morda, she was so boring compared to other krogan leaders, I mean Wreav is a giant asshole, but he's a well-acted asshole, Morda's acting was flat and her voice was terrible compared to Bakara and Kesh.
And there's the people who are such fans of a particular race that they love every individual member, like the person who sabotaged the genophage cure because a krogan killed a random salarian in the Shadow Broker dossiers or people who want to bang this fucker

Solas People like Samson but not the hotness of Stroud in DAI? turianlannister: I wonder why the asari dance didn't just sent that turian flying with her biotics? (Though I wonder the same thing about the asari councilor in ME3 when Udina pulls a gun on her.)
