Anything interesting? I'm at work and can't watch a video :/ It takes place on an Alien planet, you're a Freelancer who's job is to serve and protect humanity. It's more science fantasy aka space magic, he used Star Wars and the Marvel Universe as comparison. It's an action RPG, and has co-op which can be played with friends throughout the whole experience, not sure what that means. It was pitched as an idea when wrapping up Mass Effect 3's produciton. He was also overwhelmed and emotional in regards to the positive reception from E3 and that the game was finally revealed, which was nice, Flynn sounds like he needed a win. There was some mention of how fans, and their own developers influence the games they make. He did talk a lot about co-op, just saying. Think that is the whole summary. Your spin is so much more positive than mine Me <--- Debbie Downer

"More and more people want to play games cooperatively these days."
To some extent this is true, especially for married people. For single people like me it sucks. It's just one more way the world penalizes you for being single. Because once you hit a certain age, there's no going to a friend's house and playing games. The friend is busy. They have a family; they have children.
And then there's the platform issue. Say you do have a friend who will play with you. He has an xbox, you have PC.
You're right, it's a friggin mess. Dragon Age is not a favorite of mine but I guess I will have to just try and look forward to that.

On most gaming sites that have articles about it the comments are pretty positive. With this game I think BioWare is turning away from its core fans and attempting to attract a new group of fans, i.e. MP and shooter fans, people who like Halo, Destiny, Overwatch, etc. Those kinds of fans are looking for beautiful graphics and a great MP experience. I have a feeling Anthem will deliver. Blech. Hopefully it will be the new cash cow for BioWare and they can focus some of the cash on making Dragon Age and *crosses fingers* Mass Effect even better. Maybe get that open world nonsense out of their system. Considering the above, I think the best case scenario is instead of Bioware sacrificing RPG elements in its RPGs to try to attract a wide audience, they instead make Anthem specifically to do that and restore their RPGs to their former glory, concentrating on appealing to their current fanbase and potential RPG fans. The best of both worlds, appealing to RPG fans and shooter fans... just not with the same game. I just wish they had Montreal make Anthem and Edmonton make ME:A... Edmonton has experience with RPGs and Mass Effect specifically while Montreal is great at everything combat. Oh well.

Well hopefully @janalilith will play with me I guess we can try to put a positive spin on this and just plan for it. Decide who's on what platform and in which timezones. Maybe set up a chat where forumers can go and announce they're online and ready to join up.

If it's a really really great shooter with an at least decent storyline, I honestly will probably really enjoy it. It's the online thing that's irritating me. I don't want to play online with other people. When I want to play my game, it's when I'm ready and when I decide I have the free time to do so. I'm not interested in "planning" to play a game with other people. It just... doesn't work that way in the real world for me. Urgh.

They need to be clear about whether it's an RPG or not. They've now gone on the record saying both. I've heard "RPG-like," "not an RPG" and "hybrid RPG action/adventure."
The thing is, if they're really pushing for the online co-op, are there even going to be any companions? It feels like they are going to do away with companions and have the co-op players fill this role. So while it's technically possible to play solo, it will be a quiet and lonely play through experience.

Just how terribad at marketing they always end up being. Tell fans what this game is. What is the genre. If it's genre-busting, that's fine; then just explain to us what it is. Otherwise people are going to buy it thinking it's one thing or the other, and they're going to be pissed. "It's a first person shooter with third person interaction; there's a great story, and the gameplay focuses on playing cooperatively with your friends." Just say that if that's what it really is. Don't tease us or try to rope us in if you think we might not be into that. Instead of just replying "Yes you can play solo," tell us how the solo experience differs. "You can play solo but you will miss out on the unique experience Anthem offers." I would even be okay with that. It's winking and nodding and telling me, yeah, this is a co-op game.

My bet is that raids and dungeons are a requirement for co-op just like SWTOR. Which means that probably the best loot is going to drop there. Although I love co-op and cooperative games, idk Destiny 2 seems enough for me and I really wanted another RPG from bioware not really this.

They need to say it's RPG-like so their core fanbase is suckered into buying the game. I pre-ordered MEA. Fuck Off TM Bioware. Yeah, I pre-ordered MEA too. Whoops, sort of.

I wish I could experience the game for the first time as I am now, NOW that it's actually complete But we're all suckers, and I'm the chief sucker. I'll totally buy Anthem.

Ah, you see, you need to have a shitty PC. I still haven't managed to play ME:A, (I had it pre-ordered) and now I'm kinda glad for it. So thank you Bioware for making me feel better about my 5 year old wreck of a laptop

I knew there was something suspicious about m/m before ME:A release. Now staying away from Anthem, because again- the lack of rpg elements in e3 gameplay was weird. (I'm still salty about this game tbh. Fuck you Anthem, fuck you for killing ME and for being Destiny clone)

Game looks very pretty but the possibility of it being a MP heavy game really turns me off from it, not to mention I got burned last few times I gave in and got a game right around release. Probably won't look to heavy into it in order to avoid falling on a hype train and try to look around for information after its been out for a bit.

I didn't preorder Andromeda. I didn't even preorder Inquisition (I could've, but I had a much better idea of what I was in for than I had with Andromeda). But if Anthem is trying to tap into a social gamer demographic (like what every other AAA gaming studio seemingly is trying to do), it has already lost me as well... I kinda wished they were taking their cue from Tell Tale instead (just with the added action RPG element and minus the collaborations with other existing franchises).
