if you expect cool rep in The Quarry just better cool down your expectations, the only gay kiss is censored and optional and meanwhile straight kisses... what a total disappointment, fuck this company ... I went to youtube to see the straight kiss in the scene since they playing truth or dare and well... with girl vs with the boy

Davrin's boobs So the game doesn't actually have any gay romance in it? Just a gay censored kiss in truth or dare? If so, that's a shame. I absolutely loved Until Dawn and the only thing that would've made it better for me would have been LGBTQ+ representation...which I was hoping this would have. It's a shame because I was pretty excited for this one since I LOVE slasher films and games like this are perfect for slasher fans like me.

Yeah as far I know, the relationship for both of the guys has some tiny bit of content but theres no actual closure and theres no more kisses for them besides that censored one. It's so freaking disgusting, I hate this industry. But hey, the company is an ally, they have the pride flag in their pfp on twitter

Dylan is canonically gay and unambiguously very attracted to Ryan. Ryan is canonically bisexual and interested in both Dylan and Kaitlyn - but in a very unenthusiastic way. (Doesn't help that his voice actor has one of the worst performances I've ever witnessed.) Weirdly the game pushes Ryan with another girl out of nowhere in act 3 even though she has a boyfriend she's very serious about.
The LGBT rep wasn't amazing - they clearly half-assed the kiss compared to the straight pairings and you shouldn't expect a great romantic resolution between Dylan and Ryan - but none of the straight pairings were resolved either from what I saw.
If you liked Until Dawn/Dark Pictures Anthology and the above doesn't bother you - I had fun with it. Not a must play though in my opinion, but I had sort of a shit ending with a lot of deaths. Maybe I'll like it more when I get around to replaying with everyone surviving.
(And for what it's worth, even if he didn't get amazing romance content - Dylan himself is an excellent character and by far my favorite from any of these games I've played.)

I watched a streamer play it as I'm not into playing these games myself and I really liked Dylan. (A shame the streamer got both my faves killed and a gnarly bug meant he couldn't rewind it) Ryan was just... blah, it was so weird and the game trying to suddenly make stuff flirty between him and another character out of nowhere when she was doing everything she was for her boyfriend is just so fricking dumb. Though from what I saw, none of the 'couples' got any sort of closure considering how the game ends - however the fact remains that the m/m kiss was still pathetically censored compared to the m/f version and it's stupid considering you have to *pick* to kiss him so it's not like anyone can complain 'omg I accidentally kissed a dude' or anything. Just another company doing bare minimum and then claiming the lgbt rep. The only thing I did like is that they didn't pit the 'romance options' against each other and there's some banter between them later about the situation and like they both know they can do better than Ryan.

Honestly, I'm a fan of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology (well, the one I've played), so ultimately, while I'm disappointed that the gay is so half-baked in execution, I'm still inclined to put this on my list. Like, some of it is my own low expectations at this point in video games - it's like pulling teeth by hand just to get something in there in the first place, I'm generally willing to extend A BIT of leeway, in that the first time they do it, I'm not surprised it's underwhelming.
The first time.
The problem, of course, being in successive games - are they going to have more gay romances? Worse, are they going to hide behind "analytics" and say that "well, not enough players did it in this game to make it cost effective in future games"? So... I'm keeping an eye on what comes next, and I'm not saying that it's perfect or anything, but... I mean, it IS something.
Also Evan Evagora is one of the characters, and he was woefully underserved in Star Trek Picard, so I'd like to pick this up and get more of him.

The weird thing about it is everywhere I look/read people were trying so hard to get Dylan and Ryan together, even straight guys. They had far more time together and chemistry/flirty stuff than Ryan had with Kaitlyn and the thing with Laura later comes out of nowhere and makes utterly no sense unless you look at it through the lens of the infection was making Laura act weird and then Ryan act weird if you have her bite him. It's almost like they had two different teams writing the story line and no one knew what the others were doing. Though pretty much all the possible pairings suck like this. There's no closure for anyone and no reflection time for, say, Nick should he kill Abigail when he turns and she doesn't shoot him. It really feels like the ending was rushed because you don't get to see them reunite (only Max and Laura apparently do if everyone else is dead?) or talk about anything and instead get a really dumb podcast. I don't get why they added all these possible romance plotlines only to just end them entirely except for the idea they rushed it to completion.

Yeah, the end of the game is a dumpster fire which is a damn shame because I loved it up until that point - but it also makes the lack of resolution for Dylan/Ryan more tolerable to me because there's basically no resolution for anything. Their kissing animation compared to all the straight kisses is the only real gripe I have.

I just played the new version/xbox version of "Newfound Courage". I don't know what is different about the new version compared to the original since I didn't play it, but I had a good time with the game. The first book was very depressing (it's broken into 2 parts), but the second book was great! Sadly it's a very short game, but only 9 dollars so I guess it makes sense. I actually had to play book 2 twice cause I forgot to make a save before picking a romance ending. I really wanted to see 2 of the 3 at least, and thus I plowed through a second time on the setting that makes you invincible in combat. (the combat is too hard honestly, but I did manage to get through on classic once at least) Thoughts on the romances semi-spoilery: Mitchy is my favorite guy as he's basically a knight-in-shinning armor personality in a way. Yarrow (sp?) is my second favorite since his shared past with mutual trauma kind of just works with the story best. I didn't romance Cult yet, he felt very underdeveloped but I'd not be shocked at all if he has a great story if there was a third book.

Omg the new reimagined harvest moon a wonderful life, now called Story of Seasons will let you be gay and even non binary! This is wow for me because I played the gamecube game way back, and of course only had straight options but young me probably wouldn't have taken a gay path anyway hahaha. the website of the game to see more: marvelousgames.com/games/story-of-seasons-a-wonderful-life

Story Of Seasons A Wonderful Life has been announced!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!! This was my first Harvest Moon game way back in the day and I can't tell you how many hours I spent playing this wonderful game as a kid and teenager! Of course it had the flaw of not allowing gay marriage - something I always dreamed of when playing it...that final touch to make the game more perfect and enjoyable for me. YOU CAN PLAY AS MALE, FEMALE, AND NON-BINARY AND MARRY ANYONE! 10 year old me would have been so happy to have been able to marry one of the men in the game, and now this remake is making that dream a reality! I know farming sims aren't for everyone but this one just means so much to me and I can't wait to get my hands on it and relive this experience the way it should have always been - with gay marriage!!!!

For sure! Is crazy to think about my childhood game now this way is awesome. I don't have a switch atm though but I decided to investigate the newest story of seasons and looks like you can romance anyone as well, so I am going to try that on steam! Think Ralph might be the one already. Kinda crazy to think about farming has more representation in romances than... *checks notes* science fiction that's suppose to be a progressive future but alas.

two years late but I finished with my sis The Quarry yesterday, a friend of hers lend us the game and we (after so many attempts lmao) save everyone yesterday. The game is fine but I still think Until Dawn is the best game of its kind, like we dont even know the origin of the curse and the end of the game is pretty mehhh.
Dylan and Kaitlyn were for me the best characters, I really enjoyed their friendship and camaraderie, more than the gay ship, Ryan is so boring and I didnt care about him at all and yeah her crush for Laura is just because lol it made no sense, but to be honest all the relationshiop were so forced with zero chemistry between the characters, take Abigail for example who is supposed to love Nick but she is drawing Emma instead when you first meet her, which makes you think she has a crush on her (my sister and I were like is this a ship? because it looks like it) chemistry between Emma and Aby was better than she had with Nick. Same for the other characters.
I liked the subverted trope with Jacob who was pretty much the hot big boobs blonde of the game, and is nice to see male characters being vulnerable and even cry.
Laura was fine as character too, I really liked Travis too (oh mighty Joxer!) and David Arquette was just there for a few seconds lol shame. Emma was promising, she had a great chase scene but then meh. The rest were very forgettable.
If I need to do a ranking it would be like this:
Until Dawn (its still the best for me, great plot twist and Sam is still my favorite character of these games) House of Ashes (it was great and I really felt in danger like I felt with UD) Little Hope (I would have appreciated more this game if Man of Medan didnt trick us, but it was a nice story regarding mental health) The Quarry (Cool beginning, meh ending, some characters are really cool, sadly gay kiss censored so boooo) Man of Medan (I felt so cheated haha fuck this game I liked some characters though, specially Fliss)
I need to play The Devil in Me which it has a lesbian couple with no censored kisses, but the game is still expensive lol so I will wait...

Yeah, I played The Quarry and just... The Jacob/Emma stuff just felt so pushed, and Jacob SCREAMS gay himbo energy. And as much as I like having a canon pairing to work with (sort of, I'll get to it), I honestly feel like it would have been much better for Jacob to just forget this girl and hook up with a guy like he clearly should (granted, I will allow that there's some wishful thinking in there). And yeah, Emma and Abi were DEFINITELY showing more chemistry than their straight canonical pairings.
My big issue with the Dylan/Ryan stuff is that it just ends up fizzling out so that... there can be ship teasing of Ryan and Laura, a character whose existing relationship is her primary motivation? It's just a weird mess that I find myself wanting to just not parse because it doesn't even make sense. I support the canon, but I do kinda prefer to roll with Dylan/Jacob as a result.
Still, I do like the style of these games, so I'm gonna be looking out for the second season of the Dark Pictures and any subsequent solo game.
