Interesting. I still haven't played the first game even though I own it, so now I have more of a reason to get to it. Maybe I'll do it this summer. Does anyone have a spoiler-free guide to getting the Vasco romance? From what I've read here, I don't want to accidentally miss out on it. Basically you just have to pick the right dialogue options after his personal quests and they're not marked or very flirty. #1 "happy memories" #2 "assert himself" #3 "sail with him"

So there is a trailer for it as well if you haven't seen it. It's set for a 2024 release and it is a prequel set three years before the first game. A prequel? Well that's... different. Might involve a different protagonist, hard to tell judging from that trailer. Makes me wonder if they'd even add romance for it however.

Well the premise is... interesting. I wonder if it will be different factions or if it's just the same ones from the first game again but with different people in charge. Hmm. Slightly more interested but I'll watch it from a distance for now and hope they won't be as shady about the romance options as they were with the first game.

I'm willing to approach this cautiously optimistically, if only because there's no other RPG with romance mechanics on the immediate horizon so far as I know. Granted, I'm still bitter about the "only one same sex romance option per gender, we're also going to allude that the reason the straight male option is not available for guys is because of prior sexual assault" thing and all that jazz, but like... I didn't hate GreedFall the first, and honestly, if I didn't have a significant number of unplayed games in my collection as it is would probably have gone and had a second playthrough by now.

I totally forgot and buried in the deepest place of my mind that Kurt was sexually assaulted by a man oh my god my hype just vanished + Jehanne condescending tweets about how we should be happy we got one single option per mlm/wlw

Yeah... That's all part of the whole "cautious" part of the optimism. I don't have it in me to uncontrollably rage at this point, since as bad as it is individually, we all know that this is a systemic bunch of bullshit beyond any one person or company, and... Like I'm gonna demand better, sure, but... I have also grown to temper my expectations going in all the same.
And like... I DID enjoy Vasco, so I liked my official option for once. That in and of itself is a rarity. So like... There's a sliver of something positive on that front to offer a bit of... Well, maybe "hope" is too strong a word, considering everything surrounding Kurt, or even the fact that Vasco's romance just reused the animations from the Andrew romance in Technomancer, but... I'll call it "room for optimism."
I mean, again, overall, I enjoyed the first GreedFall, so like... There's at least something here that would make me WANT to play.

Video games seem to really bring out mixed emotions for me of late for sure, but yeah I'm gonna follow this along with yall. I have doubts that it'll work out, but like others I really enjoyed the first game despite the fuckery. (I also really liked Vasco despite the motorboat where a kiss was supposed to be. At least they sort of got the end game kiss right!)
I usually don't like prequels, but maybe it won't matter as much in this case since it's apparently all different characters. Here's hoping it'll have a good romance (or 2) for all of us to enjoy.

I don't expect it but I hope they learned from their mistakes and go all bi for romances. I suppose 2 straight/2 gay would still be an improvement over the first game's options, but I guarantee I'll prefer the straight option again if it happens.
I'll be cautiously watching it as more information comes out. I did enjoy the first game and played through it a couple of times, but I won't be buying this full price if they fuck us when it comes to romances again, especially if they do the same as the first game and either only broadcast the straight options, or they only ever show a male character in the trailers until riiight at the end when we finally got a female De Sardet shown. Also maybe this time the female protagonist won't get constantly called a guy in the game like she did in the first one. (Did they ever even fix that?)

I only saw where they claimed they didn't know it was a thing. (an obvious lie) so I'm assuming it didn't get fixed, but it'd be nice if it did!

So I finally started playing this highly controversial game that made the forum explode a few years ago. I have to say that I'm really loving it so far. I love the atmosphere of the game. It's a nice change from medieval fantasy.
I'm TERRIBLE at the combat though, so I'm probably making the game harder for myself than it needs to be LOL. All I can say is that it definitely feels like a Spiders game as I can see the similarities to Technomancer...it gives off the same "vibe" I guess.
I'm still early in the game, but from what I have seen so far, romance in the game feels very shallow and like an afterthought. I'm going through Vasco's quests now but NOTHING has seemed flirty and I'm not feeling the romantic connection at all. I hope this changes in the end, but it feels like romance could have been improved so much. It's crazy that it's so easily missed and you have to jump through hoops to get it.
I already hate two of the factions so siding with the Natives on all quests seems like it's going to be easy to do.

It feels super weak the first 10 levels or so then it gets really powerful. And yeah the atmosphere of the game is excellent. Biggest strength by far for me and why I'm excited the game world gets a second shot.

LOL The fact that Aphra has obvious flirty options AND hearts next to romance dialogue while you have Vasco's romance so hidden says A LOT about the people who developed this game. If I remember right even Siora had obvious romance dialogue. It's a shame they went from Andrew to this...but if I remember right you could also pick multiple flirty options with the Technomancer girls while Andrew's was more restricted. Also the fact that they just used the same animations from Andrew's romance was ridiculously lazy. Like that entire romance scene was so poorly done. Still, I like Vasco as a character even if I didn't really feel the romanctic connection due to how poorly they handled that. I'm not sure if I'd go for Vasco or Kurt if Kurt was also an option, but part of me is leaning to Vasco. disgustednoise I have a two-handed sword/gun build at the moment and have started dipping into magic. I'm still not great at the combat but some fights have gone better than others. I think part of the problem is the game giving you quests early on that are far beyond your current level. Still, I'm level 23 now and still have some trouble with what should be basic enemies. Fury has been a big help though now that I've actually started using it!

Funny thing about Aphra for me... I honestly sometimes forget she's there. Like she is the least integrated character in the cast so far as I can tell. Granted some of that was part of how I played the game - I straight up killed Doctor Asili at the confrontation with him, because by that point, the Bridge Alliance had left me feeling that there'd be no justice from them, especially with all the instances of the Alliance's people treating the natives worse than crap, so the whole trial sidequest ended sidestepped entirely, but... Yeah, Aphra just feels like a functional non-entity in the game overall.
Not that Vasco doesn't have similar problems of story integration, but... I do think Aphra has it worse.

I have to admit I kind of...just gave up on this game and lost all interest. I want to say I was about halfway or more through it, but it just felt like it kept dragging on and on and the empty semi-open worlds didn't help with that. I would've preferred fewer (or smaller) open areas with more meaty content. I really wanted to like this one, since I love The Technomancer, but I guess this one wasn't for me. (It doesn't help I also didn't feel connected to the companions in this at all, unlike Technomancer where they really felt like a small family). I'm happy for everyone that enjoyed this though. Maybe the prequel will be better?
I don't know if I just played this at the wrong time, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to finishing it.

Andrew Mancer sorry to hear you didn't get into the game. I found it a lot better-paced than Technomancer (with a lot less backtracking through areas where you had to fight the same enemies over and over). I do admit I did like the companion conversations in the transport/tank thing in that game a lot, however. It feels like the companions in Greedfall all exist with some kind of invisible wall that keeps them from talking to each other most of the time. Though they are plenty chatty with the PC.

In Greedfall it does feel very much like you're the only thing connecting all these people together and they have no connection or friendship with each other whilst in Technomancer it did feel like there was a bit more camaraderie between everyone.
Which is a shame you never really feel that in Greedfall. They'll all talk to you but there's nothing really there between them which just makes them feel more like tag-alongs. I kinda hope the presequel does better with that, though I'm still curious as to what type of companions we will get in it given the setting.

I've never got very far into Technomancer (maybe I'll have to give it another shot sometime), so I can't compare but I do agree there's something a little off with the way the companions are done in Greedfall. I like them all as characters, but they don't really feel alive in-between personal quests and chats with DeSardet.

I'm playing this right now after finishing The Technomancer (loved Andrew, liked the story, hated the gameplay) and I guess I'm hating the Bridge Alliance and Theleme (Thelemites? I dont know what english word is used sorry lol), thing I'm wondering is if I can piss them off every chance I can without screwing myself up from a good ending¿ I dont know when I'm going to finish this though, adulting life is busy and I only have the weekends to play with my brain properly functioning lol but I'm guessing I have time til BG3 is finally released I hope Greedfall 2 will be better and treat us wlw and mlm as good they treated the straights, I'm about to create a prayer circle to manisfest a handsome tol plant-like native for the (possible only) mlm option lol I NEED HIM

I'm wondering is if I can piss them off every chance I can without screwing myself up from a good ending¿ I know you can get a good ending with ditching one of the 3 non-native factions, but IDK about ditching 2 of them. There is a wiki with ending info out there though, so if you want I can look into it more. Just holler at me on Twitter or here.
