I mean, yeah, that's kind of my thing with Merrill. lol She doesn't know wtf she is doing, but nobody in DA2 knows wtf they're doing. I was thinking more on the line of a well trained Tevinter mage that is competent and didn't learn blood magic from a random demon that happened by the magic mirror they keep around without knowing wtf it is. Merrill is kind of more of a what not to do, tbh. I agree, someone who can make a coherent, nuanced argument about the ethics of blood magic would be awesome. But BioWare sucks at nuanced debate just generally. Like don't get me started on the fuckin Tranquil, man. It might be interesting to hear your take on the Tranquil, although probably we should take it to the lore thread. lol

But my argument is grounded in my (admittedly shallow) understanding of brain science, and that all goes out the window when the lore of Thedas says that emotions come from some kooky dreamworld.

But BioWare sucks at nuanced debate just generally. Like don't get me started on the fuckin Tranquil, man. I want to be blood mage again, and want nuanced rp-elements as a blood mage. It was ridiculous, that no one reacts on Hawke's bloody practice, neither Anders, nor Merrill or Fenris. Hawke just was fine (and even the Warden). I want to see more weakness of blood magic, not only some little health-loss. For example temporary out of control, if the character use blood magic so many times (the player lost the control over the character for a while, the character can die), or game over, if this happen many times. (Example: Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption – rage: the character enraged from fire or something, and the player lost control over him. unleashed; or lost humanity [he killed so many innocents]: the character lost all his humanity, he became an uncontrollable beast – game over.) And I want to see, why blood magic is feared. If the companions see, that the character use blood magic, they will be distrustful. And, the player can decide, where is the moral limit. (Example: I never used blood sacrifice.) If the character morally weak, can be much more stronger, but can lose approves from the companions and lose him/herself temporarily, and then permanently (game over).

Yeah, it makes as much sense as Cassandra having the templar spec. "I don't have Templar powers, I have new, different, awesome-sounding powers." *Has templar powers* oh, i almost forgot about that XD bull also comments how he is not a reaver, he just has a style that behaves similarly if you go with the reaver spec. it's inconsistent how some people simply are what the spec says (sera or cole for example) but others not really In the post-WEWH talk, if the Inquisitor picks the and says "I'll remember our dance," Dorian replies something along the lines of how there could have been more corpses about. The Inquisitor says, "You're a strange young man, Dorian," and he response with, "Nonsense, I just enjoy the drama." He also has dialogue with Cassandra of being interested in the Grand Necropolis and how he wanted to visit when he traveled to Nevarra with his parents. He seems disappointed to learn from her that it's not quite as he imagined it as a kid. So I do indeed think it suits him! However, I do wish entropy as a school were more developed in DAI, as I think that does fit him well. It's my headcanon that, while he was training in the Circle, he started with entropy, and that just naturally slid over into necromancy. Also, it is a disappointment that Dorian doesn't have any dialogue about his spec at all. We get more about it from Cole than Dorian himself if the mage Inquisitor takes the spec. It's one way of showing the different Tevinter mentality with regard to spirits, as Cole says that he's bothered by it, they way they're pulled apart and manipulated. bolded line- i understood this reference as a comment about how deadly the large gatherings of the nobles are, not corpses being fascinating mood-setter to dorian. and "strange young man" comment from inky as comment about how flippant dorian is, not a comment about morbid desires. by the same token, a banter with cassandra can also be understood as dorian's academical curiosity, he shows plenty of interest in studying and playing with magic, but nothing really says "necromancy" about him to me. people would be bound to comment about his specialization if he were truly a necromancer, since it is viewed as weird and scary practice in thedas. i do agree we lack a lot of interesting spells and trees in dai. i wished mages had more options...

I guess we'll have to disagree about the necromancy thing.

I guess we'll have to disagree about the necromancy thing. of course, i don't expect to change anyone's mind, but it's interesting to debate nonetheless besides, necromancy is just a small part of dorian, plenty of other things about peacock to discuss

Some great Dorian Gifs: *deamy sigh* I didn't mind the outfit itself, and in fact liked the idea of them all wearing the uniform. The colors are what got me. Dorian and Inquisitor boyfriend look great in this version. I wish the dancing scene were a tad bit longer before it fades away.

Yeah I was looking forward a lot to that dancing scene since the mission started lol but was disappointed how short it was.

I'm going through all of the Dorian art I've reblogged on my Tumblr and will be posting some occasionally. I won't flood the thread with it. Here is a link to the tag if you want to see everything I've reblogged. Even though it's relatively simple, this is one of my favorite pieces. In fact, it inspired me to start writing fanfic, so I'm immensely grateful for having seen it. Source.

It's rather a bummer that gay players who really like Dorian, and his romance, don't talk about it very often. I know they exist. I can't really have much to say about it as a straight woman, so it's sad to see so many negative things, even if I intellectually understand the reasons for them.

But seriously, I enjoyed Dorian's romance despite some complaints. It's honestly because I do like the character that the flaws sting and I whine about him. lol There's a lot I love about Dorian. He'll be my choice every time I play DA:I. I wish it didn't drop off on the end it did and that he was a bit more emotionally available, but I still enjoyed his romance quite a bit.

I really wish Dorian had this outfit as a variant in the game. He looks like a Venatori here. Source: my own scan, from The Art of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

i liked character concepts from the artbook, i kind of feel like all the versions of characters kind of represent all their potential and future/past expressions.
but i'm glad dorian didn't have this venatori hood, i learned to associate it with very bad things :/
