November and still no release date. Braces self for "sometime before the end of 2020". release date for what?? Yeah, like dgcatanisiri said-the console release has been promoted to be out "by the end of the year" for 2 years in a roll-and still no release date-so...

Official release date set: January 28 2020I was tempted about the Collector's Edition, but that's a hefty price tag when the only thing you're getting extra is a figure. Though if this makes enough money, that might counteract the "acclaimed flop" they're figuring out about the series that's put it on hold before any more follow ups come along...

Noooo ugh. Well shit, thats news to me with the whole Pillars on hold thing...SIGH. And yeah it is puzzling why 2 sold less... "Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which generally had lower review scores than Deadfire, sold better than Deadfire and had RTwP combat." That statement makes me all kinds of sad. I like Kingmaker, but I still havent even finished it yet. I've had Kingmaker since it launched. Yet I keep dropping it halfway. I've completed Deadfire 3 times. Deadfire imo, is superior in every way, fluid/less clunky combat (and now with a turn based mode) sheer number of romance options (Kingmaker is definitely aimed a straight dudes), better looking graphics/spell and ability animations..only thing Id say Kingmaker has over Deadfire is a longer crit path story. But when you add all the DLC for Deadfire together with the main story, theres a huge amount of great content there. At least consoles have a date now, and its not too far off. For anyone wondering after reading that article, the loads times are miles better than the first game btw lol. Ekera..

I'd agree with the linked article regarding the "on hold" declaration that one of the things that the first game had going for it was the initial wave of Kickstarter funded games. The sequel came a handful of years later when that initial boom had passed. Throw in a general trend of economics being shaky at best for a lot of people, sucking up their disposable income, and maybe even the near two year gap between PC and console releases (like at least I did grab up the Steam release during a sale, but I still haven't played it, or finished the PC run of the first game)... That all kinda collapses in on itself, and strangles good franchises in the crib.

Oof. That’s sad. I never finished POE1. I never was That into the boring medieval setting. POE2 though was different. Loved the bright colors, the voiced dialogue, the setting, and multi class mechanic. It felt like the franchise really came into its own in the sequel instead of being Baldur’s Gate Clone.
I wonder if Deadfire suffered time fatigue? A lot of companies that rely on customers to invest a lot of time in something (DIY businesses, memberships, community learning places, mail in services, etc) have done worse in the last few years, the idea being people have less time because they are working more. I personally did not buy POE2 right away, even if it looked good, because I had no time to play it and bought it over the summer sale for cheap. Still haven’t finished it though, but I intend to.
It’s also a real shame because deadfire was explicitly lgbtq inclusive and the writing really came into its own and boy oh boy was the VA good. Serafen in particular is entirely made by his VA’s amazing work.

Yeah, I think a lot is hitting up against the time fatigue issue. I mean, geez, I have almost a full shelf of completely unplayed PS4 games next to my console (granted, part of that is also replaying the older games...) I'm hoping that the console version will sell enough enough to at least prompt another game (though given the Microsoft contract, any console release would chance being a version exclusive... *sigh*).

I was really sad when I read the news that we likely won't see a third game anytime soon. Deadfire was such a good game and I really want to see more from this world... and still hope for a proper romance with Edér!The Pillars Of Eternity games were giving me exactly what I wanted out of a BioWare game and I'd love more! So, anyway....here's the final piece I got commissioned of my watcher Kelton with Edér. I'm really hoping to get my PC fixed sooner rather than later so I can get back into these games. I've missed them.

Well, I'm hoping that the console release will at least offer something for them to be able to provide a third game. Already have my preorder at my local GameStop, and, considering my birthday is just a few days before, I'm calling it a gift to myself.
Though, I'll be honest, I'm still more than a little pissed about how Eder hits ALL the beats for falling in love with the Watcher in the first game, only to actively turn them down in the second...

I'll probably wait till march to get Pillars 2 on ps4 (or switch...not sure). I want to play it, but money...ya know...plus I like to have an rpg with gay content on my birthday anyway.

Got my console copy. Now I have to finish out the run I started of Greedfall, because if I put that aside, I might not get back to it...

Well, I was planning on getting this soon, but I'm reading lots of reports that the load times are horrendous on ps4 like 2 or more minutes. It also was mentioned on twitter by the devs that they can't do anything about the long load times ever, so I don't know what to make of that.
I've seen lots of people say you can fix it by buying a solid state drive, but buying something that expensive for one game with ps5 looming already-I don't think it would be a wise choice. Ugh...Much thinking on this I must do.

Ugh...Much thinking on this I must do. It is slow on my old laptop (was my only computer until recently, bought one for all the post work work I find myself doing this last year). Many days after a long day of work, rushing through my routines, scrabbling together fridge food into “dinner” and finally sitting down to play POE2 (a great game though) I would fall asleep before I could finally load my save. I’ve had the game since July and i’m Barely through the main city (pretty early in the game) because the load times work better than any sleepy time tea to knock me out. Pretty embarrassing.

That's crazy that the load times are that bad even on pc. I mean it's not a really graphically impressive game, something must be wrong with the engine they are using.

The load times were a little long when k played it back when it first came out, but I assumed it was because I was running it on a pretty terrible laptop.

I have decided I shall get the game despite the foretold issues. Not sure if I'll get it today or next week, but sometime soonTM
