*sigh* I don’t intend to get my hopes up. We got burned with Odyssey, even if it was just DLC. I don’t want to go through that again by buying the season pass on release.
I'm still salty about Odyssey so I will watch this one from a distance until it's out and we see what the romances are like. It's good they say it will have both flings and proper relationships, but I'm still gonna side-eye them until that's confirmed and that the love interest either doesn't get forgotten about immediately, or get fridged. I know there's more to the series than romance blahblahblah, but if you're also selling the game on having romances to lure people in, then a repeat of the uneven options, and the 'surprise! you've got a baby now' from Odyssey, is going to leave me jaded until I see proper proof they've learned from their mistakes.
On the plus side I'm glad we're seeing more of the female Eivor, and I hope that continues. (Though hopefully not in a way like it was with Kass and Alexios where everyone starts shitting on the male character like we had with Odyssey. )

I had so much fun with Odyssey even if the romance content was lame, but it was still an RPG with an amazing setting and really fun combat where your protagonist could be queer, so this is still an instant buy from me.
But yeah, I'm definitely not giving them any gold pass money after last time and I won't be buying any DLC until after it's well documented.
Have they ever explained why both protagonists are called Eivor? That's always been a female name, as far as I know - like Claudia or Elisabeth. I wish they would have choosen a gender neutral name or different names for the male and female character. That's kinda...weird.

Given my experience with the BioWare fandoms... don't hold your breath. I distinctly remember that on like the day it was announced that the Ryder twins were both in Andromeda, there was ALREADY a post going around of "Sara Ryder spent her childhood being awesome by rescuing her hapless idiot of a brother." Not to mention the fact that when I've put out comments about how "hey, Shepard's empowering regardless of gender, and there are a lot of non-cishet white guys who get empowered by Shepard, on top of how even cishet white guys deserve someone to look up to, saying things like 'female Shepard is the only real Shepard,' you're sending a message to these guys that they don't belong here in fandom, can we not tell people how to play their games?" I have gotten called both lesbophobic and misogynistic.
Y'know, for asking for equal respect - I even always acknowledge that, yeah, if someone is saying crap like "Shepard CAN'T be a woman!" then it's fair game to invalidate them, but if it's just someone saying "male Shepard works better for me," the fandom actually can feel hostile and exclusionary at times. And THAT, apparently, makes me misogynistic and lesbophobic.
Given that, it is all too easy for me to see the voice actor/gender war start up all fucking over again, and I'm already exhausted.
So romances are going to be like they were in Odyssey. Peachy. Cuz those were so in-depth and full of significance...
Yeah, not inclined to preorder. I don't trust like that. Even with the prospect of a kitty.
Let me guess it will also have double the female options to romance compared to the male. ...If only I was joking. I'm interested but I just don't trust like that anymore.
Yeah-the imbalance in romance options in the last game still has me shaking my head. Especially the fact that ZERO male romance options could become ship crew members. That was so messed up. Mind you that whole thing was way oversold as that mechanic was less than meaningless-still-I want my shipboard romance damn it!
