Dragon's Dogma thread (a sequel is in development!)

The general consensus is that this was a bad demo. I do have to say… I didn’t love the first games combat. There’s stuff that’s okay, but the way you had to use consumables to do damage was awful. I couldn’t really tell from that demo if it’s much different. We need like super fans to play it and explain what’s different.

That does look quite nice. I'm very tempted, but still holding off until we know about any romances the game might have. I keep being burned with romances in games lately.

the demo of the character creator is out just in case you guys want to check that out, it seems its pretty great! The ones I'm seeing just make me wish they were romanceable haha, I'm gonna wait for romance options before I think about of the new Arisen though

Is there any chance that gimolas and nocte won't be romancing Glyndwr if they get the game?

If their statements that it is the same idea as the first game, then I would assume all named characters who aren’t scripted to die are romanceable.

As per my own personal niche interests, meh, they all seem pretty but boring which is what I expected. It depends what Arisen I can live with playing which guy I’d go for. Like the first game all my arisens looked like the type who’d fall for a random guard cause that’s how the CC worked to make a particular vibe but this cc is less restrictive.

but I do see this being a lot better than DDDA for romance. Might be like fable mixed with vanilla Skyrim. Where as the last game felt kinda like jump scare horror movie where you might get the guy you gave 25 gifts to or you might get… nightmares. 

It was a baffling game design, like how certain NPCs if you wanted to romance you basically had not do any quests with anyone else if they disappeared as part of their quest. And honestly you get a happy ending only to move your spouse into a fishing shack during the apocalypse. How romantic.

And even though the game is coming out soon because everyone is focused on the combat in their reviews, I don’t really know if they have improved quests, npc interactions, menus, that sort of thing cause the reviews are basically solely focused on the combat and honestly it sounds identical with some improvements. And some negatives, like less fashion options. So I really think I need a full review too in addition to waiting. 

Hopefully there are side characters not on the list are romance-able.

I do have to say, the first game integrated the plot of the game into romance. With out that, which may have been a fluke of development struggles, it would be pretty small. This game seems to be exploring a different story and I am not sure the game will go the same way. So, that in tandem with them being kinda cagey about the system that’s in the game, I do wonder just how big romance will even be. And I do wonder if people are just assuming things will be substantial, kinda like how people assumed the incredible clothes layering system would return only to find it will not. I do know they have hyped up the romance with generic brunette girl but the problem is her story seems like a “default” attraction, like the girl in the fishing village from the first game, which made her romance more significant in terms of content, than most, and she would start with high affinity toward us. I don’t think any male characters will get that. Plus the duke’s wife plot and it’s unfortunately nerve wracking to wonder if that shit will be present again.

But yes, love the idea of the combat, but I really wish I knew more about other parts of the game, and generally, it’s not a good sign if romance stuff is not talked about outside the generic girl.

I am hoping though that the main reason they aren’t talking about romance is because they don’t want people to remember the first games FBI worthy system and deal with memes and that it’s not them not talking about it cause it’s somehow worse lol. 

It seems some people are getting their copy already, one person streamed the game recently in twitch, so be careful if you want to avoid spoilers

Personally I dont care about the spoilers of this game so I will bathe in leaks as much as I can to see if there is a romance system haha

yeah exactly. I mean there new things ofc, new creatures, new races, new vocations/classes but thats it. Can you guys imagine if Bioware did this? The massive boicott would be so freaking big, but DD fanboys are just "mY wAiFu, SpHinX TiTs!1! i CaN fIgHt In a bIkini hunga hunga" lol 

I hope there are more things story-wise but the things I'm seeing .. it looks like this game is a remake.

edit2. just read you can marry and have a kid with the female elf, hahah I'm scared getting duchess flashbacks

edit3. I keep reading that beloved system is the same. Reading too that Brant/Sigurd pretty much is default romance by doing his quest. This is the first thing I liked from this leaks lmao its just as big as in the first game, the beloved shows up in the credits
