They added a micro transaction store where you can buy things like the fast travel items lol
which are gated with out doing that. Seems scummy. That and their misrepresenting pc performance seems to be a big issue.
another big issue is the appearance editor micro purchase is tempting people because you don’t get the ability to do that until later and with one save slot it’s tempting. Also how to start a new save is hidden and obscure so people are biuying that item, only to discover it doesn’t work lol.

I was watching the performance video today. It seems to run pretty badly on really everything. PS5 does pretty well in comparison to the other consoles, but that's not saying much.
One never tires of these poor launches we get of late!

Steam is mostly negative reviews because of the performance. From what I can find, something about the NPC AI really tanks the CPU. There are people making lists of what npcs they can kill that won't mess with quests.
I'm very glad I didn't buy yet if it's this bad. Throw in the rather shitty micro transactions on top of it and it seems pretty scummy. The fact that they didn't do squat to change the Beloved system (did they learn nothing from the first game?) makes me even less inclined to pick it up. Bullet dodged. Which is a shame as I had looked forward to it.

Just incase anyone here bought it on PC, I guess there technically is no real way to start a new game. If you go into your files and delete your save, the anti piracy software they included with the game can, and has, reported people’s account to steam and basically ruined their account. Or at best a temporary lockout.
So glad I was getting bad vibes a while ago and didn’t get too excited for this.

whaaat? so doing a back up save is no longer possible and it's punishable? WTF I don’t know if a backup save is punishable, but to start a new game you have to delete all save data (there is no supported option, first game you had the option at main menu, this doesn’t). If you do that, denuvo or whatever it’s called, will consider it a violation. super possible that messing with saves at all will cause problems though. Which means modding and save scumming might be… painful. edit: between it being cluster headache season and mostly speaking my first language (that is so confusing grammar wise) irl these days I might not be making any sense lol sorry y’all

Also there’s this mechanic called the Dragonsplague Which can ruin your game. Essentially pawns now carry a spreadable disease that can cause them to murder NPCs in the final stages, and with no save scumming, you see the problem.

I told you guys Ulrika would be waifu bait as she's the one that saves the Arisen and now look at the state of it. This game just gets worse and worse, especially if the kiss/intimacy happens no matter what. Even if they fix the performance issues, it looks like I'll be waiting a few years for guides and stuff to be out before I bother to touch it, just like I did with the first game. I was more than fine with never speaking to that princess brat for her quests, nothing was lost. Also, wtf kind of mechanic is that? Why the hell would you add such a thing to the game? If the disease can advance I imagine people will put out disease ridden pawns to hire just to fuck over people's games. I hope you can still play offline. With only one save and not being able to backup saves without risking its shitty anti-tamp tech fucking you over, this all sounds like a horrible idea.

I remember reading about Dragonsplague in promo material and thinking it sounded lame but now it sounds not just lame but annoying. In the promo they made it seem like there’s an event that will happen when a % of players catch it too. So that is probably gonna blow too.

Yeah, really glad I didn't pre-order this. Thanks Nick for talking me out of it lol. If I do bother to get it, it will be like I did with DDDA when it's £8 and I've nothing else to play.

With everyone mostly talking about micro transactions and PC performance I can’t really tell what else is in this romance wise. But as bad as PC performance is it’s kinda funny cause it’s people mad fps is dropping to 40 while ps5 players are fine with 30 cap.
Though there’s huge optimization issues. Mostly for PC (hardware range and uncapped fps factor) but even console looks like it needed to be optimized better. It’s just for better or worse console players are clamped at a point the game can handle NPCs and graphics on high but I have seen issues even then.

I had a work party at my place to help me expand my chicken run with music and beer. One friend showed up who bought this. 1070 GPU, i7 something cpu. Whatever. It ran at above 30 fps, averaging 60 except in cities, on medium ish settings. The no new game thing was super annoying. The micro transactions are there and tempting cause the beginning of the game is slow, confusing, and restrictive. They basically had no idea about romance so I can’t help anyone there, but their performance was not good but considering it was running at an okay FPS on older hardware is interesting. It really is optimization which is so frustrating these multi million dollar games can’t figure that out lol.

It seems like the thing causing the most lag is the cpu intensive AI npc scripting they added, plus giving npcs collisions. Get into a town with all that going on at once and it's no wonder people are making lists of what npcs they can safely kill off to claw some fps back. All I've seen about romance in multiple places is that two of the female characters have proper long quest chains leading to their romance (and the intimacy apparently happens no matter what if you complete said chain so it's the Princess from the last game but worse) and any other 'romance' is essentially 'give gift until they like you' with zero depth unlike these two female romances.

The reviews I've seen make it seem like the game is just as hard this time, or harder. So I won't be picking this up. I will try to catch some of the gay romance bits (if anyone finds any online that is). Though it sounds like there's not much to see anyway.

I will try to catch some of the gay romance bits (if anyone finds any online that is). Though it sounds like there's not much to see anyway. My friend who played ( I think still is playing it) said it was unforgiving. They died a lot. They played the first game, I rented their pawn when I played dd1. They didn’t like the controls, there are less abilities, the game is really, really slow to get to a point you can play advanced vocations. He was playing for many hours and could not play anything but the beginning classes. He didn’t sound happy. It’s apparently less responsive too with dark souls style input delay as opposed to the first game which was more old school with instant input. So the first game encouraged jumping around to explore, apparently this game you’ll die a lot just falling off cliffs 10 ft high. Hypothetically this would be what I want from a game as I just want a dark souls game that isn’t psycho anti lgbtq but my friend said I should come over and play it before I buy it cause it’s so janky. Which is strange cause before all the reviewers got shamed for pushing their overly positive reviews out, they kept saying the game felt better. I can get this game at a pretty good discount right now for a new game, but I’d want to see if I like it first. I’m so frustrated by game reviews right now that part of me just wants to experience it so I could actually tell people info if they’d want it or not. ever since Elden Ring all these game reviewers have this prefabricated review agenda, which is like pro gamer reviews where a game will fill their anti corporate idea of no predatory mtx, no hand holding, lots of content, and less overwhelming story cutscenes that should be play time. This game feels like the first one of these exemplar games these people latched on to before it came out and got burned.

I'm watching a gay spanish streamer that is trying to romance the elf but yeah for now is as deep as male romances were in the first one, pink cheeks and thats it (his quest is help his sister so...) edit. I just saw this thread and what I take from there is that the beloved taken by the dragon is not even treated as romance option like in the first game so this would mean no gay romances. I need to do some spoilers hunting and watch the ending at some point but if this is true Im not buying this shit lmao edit2. I read that Beren is the male romance equivalent in a youtube video but I cant find shit
