i said it before but i'll say it again: i'll buy MEA when the price matches the proportion of care put into m/m content compared to other romances. if patch brings it up to this level (lol) i'll go out of my way to buy it at full price, otherwise, discounts will be the way to go. i realize mea has more lgbt content than 90% of other games but i'm very pissed with biowares behaviour with this game. It was just half off on the PS4. Maybe they gave half a sh*t? Not really.I am definitely worried about the future of Bioware. I am hoping they will release some information about "Dylan" soon so I can feel a bit better. I do think because of what happened with ME:A they will be very cautious going forward and have some more oversight on this project- for better or for worse in the case of LI. I just hope this new IP can deliver and help infuse the fandom with some optimism all around. And yes the online mp thing worries me. Open world and multi-player takes away from the story quality imo.

well, i have no intention soiling myself with multiplayer, microtransactions and other bullshit in hopes this *may* help getting singleplayer rpgs done. no offense to people who play online, it's just not what i consider entertaining or have interest in, and have no intention of supporting it by giving it money. if that means bio gets lost in mimicry of skyrims, destinys, wow and similar type games, then it's been a nice ride, old games will keep me warm for years to come and i hope someday we will see a similar developer. but it will be a farewell Yeah... I'm not going to purchase a game I have no interest in, not connected to DA in any way, just to supposedly support DA4. I don't even know that that would make a difference anyway. I'm even wary of a hypothetical DA strategy game, which I also have no interest in. But I would buy it because it's at least Dragon Age, and I'd want to see if it's connected to the series lore in some way. was strategy game ever an option for da? it could work maybe but i never liked all the mobile versions, text games and trading cards (or whatever) for da. i want cinematographic experience, not strategy with some da version of microsoft clippy feeding me information and telling me what an amazing leader i am. there are games that cover that kind of gameplay more than adequately. i think the worst problem is that ea wants some of that sweet destiny/wow market share

Some months ago, Mark Darrah floated the idea of one, gauging interest in a Twitter poll. To be clear, he was asked and clarified that it would NOT be a replacement of a full, normal DA game. They've also worked with Telltale Games before, on that DA Keep mini game thing, The Last Court. I'll try and find the tweet. The running theory is that, if this were to be developed, it would be by a third party as a way to maintain fan interest in the franchise while they're toiling away on DA4. [edit] Here is the tweet thread. I do suggest reading most of the replies, as Mark Darrah answered quite a few questions.

I would still want good lore and backstory in the game.

I dislike turn-based games. I am also worried by his responses that it would be canon, as that essentially means that I have to play it. I also hated The Last Court, and have never finished that to this day. If I could just breeze through it, I would blow it out in a few hours, but because I refuse to participate in the microtransactions, I would have to wait for the timer to reset for the freebies. The idea is just so tedious that I inwardly groan whenever I think about trying to play it. What is more frustrating about it is that I basically feel that I have to buy it to support Dragon Age. But I don't want to play such a game, so I can't "vote with my dollars." But it might all be moot, anyway. He did that Twitter poll in February 2016, so it's been over a year and there has been no peep about it whatsoever. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it might mean something.

mrslothy @nightscrawl Agreed regarding buying into the new IP just to fund DA4. I'm not buying MEA in hopes that my purchase will fund a sequel/MEA2 that isn't as crushingly disappointing, and the new IP presents a similar scenario for me IMO. I do enjoy some online games, but the new IP will need to present something really exceptional for me to be interested, whereas rumors of a new single player RPG from Bioware would immediately capture my attention. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what they talk about at EA Play this year, with Andromeda's disappointing release fresh in everyone's minds. Edit: I hope I tagged the right people. Let me know if I haven't.

When BioWare said their new IP was an Action Adventure but still story based, I assumed they meant something like Lara Croft or Uncharted. A story heavy game, with action sequences but little roleplaying. Still, a mistake in my view but EA don't really have anything like that at the moment and none of their other tries went very well (Mirrors Edge for example)
I thought their cancelled IP Shadow Realms was the always online one.

I have to agree with those of you who are refusing to buy a bad game that doesn't appeal to me just for the sake of maybe getting Dragon Age 4. That's horse shit. Dragon Age Inquisition was BioWare's best selling game yet (from what I heard anyway). If they don't release a sequel then EA should just stop being a gaming company, cause they clearly lost their damn mind.

I'd be on board with that. Obviously, I need to see more of the game and I'm hoping they'll showcase something at this E3 (but we might not see anything until 2018 because it seems to have been punched out to 2019), but I've never played a BioWare game that I hated so I'm interested to see what they do in a different genera and since Action Adventure can sometimes offer a better story than an RPG since it can be more focused, I'll probably play it (unless it looks completely rubbish), plus their combat tends to be way more fun than Naughty Dog's, so at least this game will have that. Always online doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me if the game is an Action Adventure so I'm not going to worry too much about that until I find out more about the game. I also doubt DA4 relies on the success of their new IP. DA:I made a shed load of cash for EA and EA are all about the money, they'll want to milk the DA franchise for all it's worth.

I didn't want to play destiny, so why play destiny clone? no idea. and what do they hope with accomplishing by attracting the destiny crowd? they'll just go "oh, since you're here, check out these rpgs we've got..." no. if this new ip is destiny-like AND it is successful, bioware will rebrand themselves into something else it is today.

Agreed, so if you want a DA4 that plays like a Dragon Age game...best not to support the action online only game.

Apparently we've also got some more numbers on the their sales of MEA; roughly 2,5 million sales. Not exactly stellar but that should at least be enough to break even on the costs right?

I don't think it would make much sense to make a game similar to SWTOR, cause yea, that was not a huge success. But they may be looking at titles like Overwatch and League of legends and thinking: "How can we cram our usual obsession of Call of Duty into THAT!?" I'm bitter. So very bitter. God have mercy on us all. Feeling a bit conflicted here: if I support this, then DA4 could happen while Bioware gradually losing their own gaming identity. And if I dont, mostly because I'm not that big of a online-based games fan, DA4 miht not even come to see the light. Ugh, why did Montreal had to screw up this badly? I am just making assumptions, but I feel like the trend toward more MP and streamlining RPG aspects of Bioware games has been happening for a while and will continue to happen regardless of MEA's reception and fiscal performance. Bio's recent games have all been watering down the heavy RPG mechanics and if MEA had been universally loved they would have taken that as a sign to continue streamlining (no companion customization or tactics, three active abilities, focus on crafting and resource collecting etc). So honestly I don't think it matters if current fans support the new IP or not, EA is going to mandate $X of microtransactions for DA4's multiplayer and make sure that the single player experience can easily transition a player into multiplayer gameplay mechanics. well, i have no intention soiling myself with multiplayer, microtransactions and other bullshit in hopes this *may* help getting singleplayer rpgs done. no offense to people who play online, it's just not what i consider entertaining or have interest in, and have no intention of supporting it by giving it money. if that means bio gets lost in mimicry of skyrims, destinys, wow and similar type games, then it's been a nice ride, old games will keep me warm for years to come and i hope someday we will see a similar developer. but it will be a farewell Yeah... I will be interested to learn about this hypothetical strategy game; I loved the Heroes of Might and Magic series when they first came out even though I'm rubbish at playing on harder difficulties. So if the mechanics were good and the setting and lore still feels like DA I would be willing to try it out. But since it would be handled by a separate studio I don't trust that it will feel the same as an actual DA game. So I'm on the fence until I learn more. It could be cool if it depicted historical battles like the previous Blights, the fall of Arlathan, Emperor Drakon's conquests, and provide some additional lore that we would never be able to experience from an actual DA game. And if the Tevinter/Qunari war will be a big theme in DA4 then we could also see some of those initial battles that lead up to DA4. Not so that anyone playing DA4 without playing the strategy game would be missing information. Sadly, it's not something I would be interested in in the slightest. Like mrslothy , I want a full cinematic RPG experience. I dislike turn-based games. I am also worried by his responses that it would be canon, as that essentially means that I have to play it. I played it a few times without paying anything and the game actually gives you plenty of time to accomplish everything and still get the "best" ending. I would have been pissed if it's impossible to get the ending I wanted without paying for it. But I understand that the time delay is annoying and gets old quickly. There wasn't tons of content, though, so without any form of time wall it could have been completed in a few hours.

The additional dlc's would have to be pretty amazing though, which means Edmonton would basically have to do it themselves because i don't see Montreal achieving that.
