So having re-watched... I am certain that the AI took control of the Section 31 ship's systems, and learned to mimic Leland's voice. Though he wasn't in a state to give the order we heard, something weird was definitely going on with his stabbed eye and he did not seem dead. I have been joking about ME similarities, but I reckon he might have been "indoctrinated". We shall see....

I thought of dead space 2 with that scene.

Another really strong episode: Georgiou continues to kick ass. Loved how she clocked that something was up with Leland almost straight away. You just don't get to pull Machiavellian schemes on the Terran Emperor. I am so looking forward to her series. Leland's transformation has clearly paved the way for her getting her own ship.
The scenes with Burnham's mother were touching. I wonder if they'll find some way to get back to her. Unless I understood it wrong, she's on that planet with the World War Three survivors, so I guess they'll be back there. Nice to see some further development between Spock and Burnham, too. Also it's good that Culber has decided to resume his role as a Starfleet doctor.

Did you see the trailer for next week? Sure did. Soo hyped. People are saying that there should be a new show about Pike and Spock's years on the Enterprise. I would certainly like to see that, as long as it was not at the expense of more Discovery.

So yeah... They seem to be setting everything up for a Discovery season set in the future. The core crew are on board, Pike's back on the Enterprise, Ash has left presumably to be a main character in Georgiou's spin-off. Everyone's bid their emotional farewells to loved ones. The wrinkle is Spock. If he stays with them, then you have to imagine they'll be back quickly. If for some reason he's forced to leave the ship, maybe to fight off Control or some such, then yeah, Disco in the future! And of course, the door is very much open for an Enterprise series.

Another thought: This kind of explains the short with the stranded guy falling in love with the abandoned Discovery computer. It had been jumped forward in time, and had evolved into an AI using the sphere data.
