GAMES WHERE YOU CAN BE GAY

In Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines, player characters of either gender can have a sort-of romance with V.V. and a ftb sex scene with Grey DeLisle Jeanette as well as a creepy parisitic relationship with your ghoul, Heather. You can feed off "blood dolls", most of whom are female but I wouldn't call that..... romance.

I think male PCs can seduce three(?) male NPCs for blood and there's a mod that lets you bang Romero the zombie hunter but otherwise m/m gets the short end of the stick. Because str8 fuckbois.

Also there's some lgb presence with some of the NPCs. Pisha had a female lover, Jezebel is bisexual cultist, and Isaac was clearly in love with Ash lmao for real (y'all saw that right).

VtM Bloodlines is really not a good example. The game itself, lets female PC to flirt and feed on female NPCs, but doesn't let the male PC do the same with male NPC.
The only sex scene (as it is) is only available with a female NPC.
And of course the opening cutscene automatically pairs you with an opposite sex partner in the bed scene.
And like you say, the few same sex relationships glimpsed in game (like Pisha) are all female only.

The NPCs you are referring to are only available through the unofficial patches (the huge project that to this day still makes updates). The game devs were both homophobic and I would really avoid giving them any credit whatsoever for any lesbian content, because I'm willing to bet an arm and a leg it was not done with the intent of inclusivity or for lesbian players.

PS: I might be wrong, I haven't googled now to check, but I played this quite a bit back then and that's what I remember.

Edit: I do regret no one has done a game like this in recent times though... I certainly enjoy the vampire lore(s) more than zombies (eww).

I just had to vote for "tiny chocolate whale." KISA gets my second vote because I sort of play my Inquisitor as one (if I had to choose an archetype for him to fall into).


At any rate, some of you will know about this because I've posted about it before, but I figure this thread will reach a wider audience.

The official description is, "A medieval fantasy themed visual novel with emphasis on LGBT characters and people of color." The demo is available on the KS page.

It is/was a Kickstarter game but the funding is closed now. It is a visual novel where you play as a fixed male character, but there are roleplay dialogue options. There are also romances, with a large variety of guys to choose from. There are also trans characters.

The reason that I like it, and am a backer, is because the art is gorgeous. I'm also interested because this is a game with a plot that can be completed without romances; they are a bonus, but not required. While I fully admit that dating sims like COOT can be fun, I'm looking for a sweeping epic story that can carry me along, and I think Eldet will deliver on this. This will be my first visual novel game, and I'm quite looking forward to it.

The creator posts updates regularly to both KS and his Tumblr dev page, so you can see that he's working steadily along.

I just watched Dana Duchy's playthough of this and it looks like a fun game! Kettill is adorable, if he had been a LI in a Bioware game and given more content he might rival Kaidan and Anders for me. I adore the "friends forever and one is secretly pining" trope and he is so kind and sweet I got a toothache.

I keep forgetting to post about this, but there's another Harvest Moon style game out called World's Dawn. I dunno if it would grab anyone here, the farming mechanics are really dumbed down and there's a lot less drama then you'd find in Stardew Valley, but if you're looking for a game that's on the light and fluffy side, you can't go wrong here. There's something really satisfying about getting your farmer engaged to another guy (or gal, if you're so inclined) and having everyone in town gush over what a cute couple you are.

Lots of great games mentioned. Life is Strange is one of my favorite games. You play a female character and can choose to kiss and flirt with a female character, a male character, or both. (The male option feels really forced, so a lot of people aren't a fan. Including me. And the story is more interesting if you chose to romance the other main character, who is the female option.)




In Fallout 4 you can romance any available character, regardless of gender. (But in the beginning you are married to the other gender option.) In Fallout New Vegas, you can choose perks that decide which gender(s) you influence more. (It also opens up some flirt options, but there is no romance.) Male couriers can pick Confirmed Bachelor and/or Lady Killer and female couriers can pick Cherchez La Femme and/or Black Widow.

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else. So it's official, Episode 5 of Season 3 for Telltale's Walking Dead revealed that the main character for the season, a good looking ex-baseball player named Javier, is bisexual.



They kind of force this romance with your sister-in-law throughout the game. But you can reject it. And there's another female character you can flirt with early on, if you want. But you can avoid that. Then, at the end of Ep 5......


So I went looking online to see how many people were complaining about it (because I'm a masochist and also, "It was forced" "Why can't they leave romance out of the game?" (despite the heavily pushed straight romance) "It was pandering" "Who cares? It's about zombies, not gay people" -- you know, the regular bullshit), and found the official confirmation from the writer.

So there we go! A canonically bisexual male main character in a Telltale game! Now I hope he comes back in the next season so I can get him a fucking man already!
