As this article confirms, the game does not have romances: www.pcgamer.com/obsidians-the-outer-worlds-blends-firefly-and-fallout-into-a-bold-open-ended-sci-fi-rpg/So, why am i creating a thread for it? Why am i still interested in it? Because Fallout New Vegas (also made by Obsidian, and my favourite rpg ever) also does not have romances, but you can still be very gay, female and male player characters literally have their own gay perks, which meant using same sex flirts throughout the game as speech checks. Also, you had a gay companion and lesbian companion, so rep was good. So i wouldn't be suprised to see those things here too. If this news turns you off the game, that's fine, if not, stick around and let's see how this turns out. |

Also I mention bioshock because the combat reminds me very much of that which pleases me greatly.
Also after reading that article I think this gonna be a starfield who game unless Bethesda gets off their ass.

I think I may need to watch the trailer a couple more times. Although romancing companions is not gonna be a thing in this game, I do wonder if that's also the case with NPCs  |

Don't count on it. It could work in theory but I dunno if Obsidian would be inclined to do that after reading that article. Also never played a lot of first-person games so yeah, we'll see x) |

The game looks like space version of Fallout New Vegas with updated gameplay and graphics. If they maintain and improve lgbt representation from New Vegas, then I will be really looking forward to it. Oh and welcome back, Red! * |

My favourite points from that article i linked: Your protagonist isn't voiced (thank god), your companions don't have seperate inventories they just add to your total capacity, and hacking and lockpicking don't have minigames, they're just based on your attributes

I'm getting good vibes from this game! It looks really, really good! It's a shame they decided against companion romances, but hopefully they do keep a good amount of LGBT representation in the game like Fallout New Vegas! Throwing in an LGBT companion or two would be nice. 
It definitely looks like the type of game I love to play that for once isn't in the isometric perspective. I'll be keeping an eye on it! |
